6. Change

Nina's gaze was straight ahead and looked so cold that Elena moved away involuntarily. The words that came out of her mouth caused Elena to be attacked by many questions.

Who was the villain? Lucas? If it was just cheating, she didn't think it would make that jerk into a villain.

Then why did Nina seem to know about Lucas? Who exactly was this girl beside her? Besides the mysterious and secretive Jack, his sister was the same. It's just that Nina is like a chameleon.

"What do you mean, Nina? Who's the bad guy?"

She didn't answer. Instead, Nina started the car engine with a straight face, making Elena finally wonder. Who was it that made the girl who was younger than her look so angry?

As soon as her head followed the direction of Nina's gaze, Elena's heart felt like it was being squeezed.

Lucas and Bella walked in front of them with smiles gracing their lips. Something she never saw when Lucas was with her.

TIN! TINN!!!

The two humans jumped and immediately turned to face Nina's car. Elena hurriedly put the hood of her hoodie back on, afraid of being caught.

"Nina, what are you doing?" Elena whispered while turning her face away so as not to be recognized by them.

Suddenly, Nina pressed the gas several times as if she was about to take part in a car race. Elena immediately fastened her seat belt and held on to the seat behind her.

In her heart, she was afraid that the incident with Jack would happen again.

The car drove quite slowly before finally stopping with the engine running. Nina slightly opened the windshield of the car beside her and extended the middle finger of her left hand to that two people.

"We meet again, bitch! You're already a successful high-class prostitute?"

Bella's face looked so shocked that her mouth gaped wide and her eyes bulged.

"What the... Hey! How dare you..."

Elena didn't have time to hear the rest of her half-sister's sentence because Nina immediately stepped on the gas leaving them with a big smile.

She looked happy as the car sped away from the hospital, making Elena wonder. Does that girl have multiple personalities? Her demeanor could change in the blink of an eye.

"You...you know Bella?" Elena asked when the car was quiet.

She heard Nina snort.

"Who doesn't know a cheap whore like her? Every student on our campus knows her profession. Some of them are even regular customers."

One fact that left Elena dumbfounded. She knew Bella had changed partners a lot out there, but she didn't expect it to be that bad.

Wait, that means she survived the disease, right? If Bella is changing partners, then Lucas is having a relationship with that girl, that means they've exchanged diseases. Lucas also cheated on her a lot behind her back.

Why was she so naive and stupid all this time? What did she expect in this free country? To find a faithful virgin?

Then what about Jack? Is... is she the umpteenth woman of him? What if she contracted a disease? Jack must have had frequent contact with Claire.

"Don't overthink it. You just need to be grateful that you're free of a depraved man like him."

Nina's voice broke her reverie. They were already in the parking lot of a mall.

"Let's have some fun today. I'm not going to waste my chance to spend my brother's money," Nina said with a smiling face, contrary to a few minutes ago.

Elena hesitantly got out of the car, looking around. She was afraid that someone would recognize her. Suddenly a mask was thrust in front of her face.

"Put this on and keep your hood up. You're still a hot topic in this town."

Elena's mouth gaped wide behind the mask she had just put on. She hurriedly followed Nina who walked confidently.

"Wait, so you already know about the scandal?" She asked in a low voice, afraid that the people walking around would hear her.

Nina shrugged her shoulders. "It made my mom faint and my dad smashed his cell phone. But they soon realized that my brother had grown up. My mom even wants to meet you."

Elena's eyes blinked. "Wh-what? Your mom...but it was just an accident. We were both unconscious. Tell your mom that we were framed."

Once again Nina just shrugged her shoulders. She pulled Elena into an expensive-looking beauty salon. Elena even froze in place when she saw the luxurious facilities that only a conglomerate like her could enjoy.

But back then, she never even went to any beauty salon. She was busy with her work.

A violet-haired woman approached her immediately after her conversation with Nina. There was no mocking look on her face as Elena had imagined because of the scandal.

"Follow me, please," the woman said, tugging gently on her arm.

"Uh, but I didn't bring any money." Elena was forced to comply when told to lie down and rest her head on what looked like a sink.

"Everything is taken care of. You just have to enjoy it," the woman said kindly.

She wanted to protest again, but the cold water splashed on her hair kept her silent. Her head, which had been a little dizzy from thinking about her problems, now felt refreshed and relaxed. Especially when the woman gently massaged her head.

Elena complied with all the directions from the salon staff, until she fell asleep while her whole body was gently massaged without touching the injured area. She didn't realize how much she needed this treatment.

She don't know how long she had been asleep, a tap on her shoulder woke her up. Elena hurriedly got up with a smile, feeling bad for the violet-haired salon employee.

"Sorry, I overslept. Your massage was really good," she complimented sincerely.

"It's okay. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Sit over there for the finishing touches on your hair," the woman said as she helped Elena down from the special bed.

After a few minutes of sitting in front of a large mirror, Elena watched the salon employee's work in amazement.

Her once blonde hair color had turned brunette and it was curly, no longer straight as it was originally. She looked fresher and much younger.

Her smile grew involuntarily. It was like she was seeing a new Elena, and she really liked this change.

"Elena, are you done?"

Nina walked up to her with her head bowed while stuffing a black card into her small bag.

When Nina looked up and met her gaze in the mirror, the small bag she was carrying fell to the floor and her mouth dropped open.

Was there something wrong with her appearance?
