“Porter, why are you not dressed yet?”
Serge asked his best friend. Porter’s living with his friends in a big pad in an exclusive condominium. It was a dream for their friendship. And though it may seem gay that 7 people live in a huge pad, they didn’t care. Staying together is better than staying at home with their parents who nagged them a lot.
Porter sighed and got up from bed. “I don’t really want to go to work.” He told his best friend.
Serge threw him his shaver but Porter shielded using the pillow. “You better get up now, man. Or you will get fired on your first day!” He told him before going inside the bathroom.
Porter rolled his eyes. “Then how the hell do I take a bath when he’s inside the bathroom? Aish.” He muttered as he took his clothes and went to the youngest’s room.
“Porter!” Oliver beamed as Porter entered his room. “I thought it’s your first day at work?” He asked curiously.
Porter rolled his eyes and went straight to his bathroom without saying anything.
Oliver wrinkled his nose at Porter’s back before continuing what he was doing. He’s actually practicing Sistar’s Touch My Body. Please.
And that’s the main reason why Porter didn’t say anything and just rolled his eyes on Oliver. He couldn’t get why he likes to dance girl group dances? Doesn’t he think it’s gay or something?
15 minutes has passed and Porter was all prepared to go to work. His new work.
He’s going to be a new supervisor in the sales department of the Jewelry branch of the Lee Group of Companies. He doesn’t look like he’s capable but he really is. At least that’s what he thinks of himself.
“Gotta go.” Porter shouted as he took his car keys and drove off to the building.
Porter is the best bachelor in town.
He is the most handsome man who’s not a celebrity and is walking down the streets of Seoul. He is definitely a head – turner. And okay, panty-dropper.
He’s rich. Yes. He has accomplished a lot in his life already. And that’s why he is
And yes, he might not show it much but at his age, he already finished his Master’s Degree in Business Administration and has worked with several big companies here and abroad. And he’s just 22. How the hell did he do that? Oh yeah. He graduated in college early. He was accelerated.
Not just once.
Not just twice.
But thrice.
Porter is a freaking genius. Serge, who thinks highly of himself, even acknowledged that. Hell, it doesn’t look like it because his features are of a playboy or chic image but, yeah, he is a gifted child.
He stopped by the stop light, a few blocks away from the Lee Group Office. He hated this. He hated waking up early in the morning to work. But he has to. It’s either he works where he likes or he works with his family, as a director in a hospital.
“Go.” He muttered as the traffic light turned green. He stepped on the accelerator when his eyes widened as he saw someone crossing the street.
He immediately stepped on the brakes and shouted in frustration. The lady fell down from shock.
“What is this woman doing crossing the street when it’s not even time to cross?” He messed his hair as he stepped out of the car to check on the lady.
The lady was still down on the road while looking at Porter with glaring eyes.
“You!” The lady suddenly stood up and pointed at Porter. “Can’t you see that I am crossing? Don’t you have eyes? What if you run onto me? What if I got injured? What if I get traumatized because you almost killed me?!” She ranted at Porter then she glared at him while panting. She probably had been tired of ranting nonstop.
Porter scoffed at her. “Excuse me, you woman who can’t even differentiate colors green and red.” He started. The lady narrowed her eyes on him.
“What did you just call me?!” She asked in fury.
Porter glared at her. “You woman who can’t even different colors green and red.” He repeated.
The lady scoffed at him. “How dare you—”
“You were crossing the street at the wrong time.” Porter cut her words. He was preventing to hear another rant from this woman again. One more rant and his eardrums would explode.
“The traffic light was green and you were crossing the street at the wrong time!” Porter shouted at her. “It’s not my fault if you want to kill yourself.” He rolled his eyes.
The lady scoffed. “Excuse me, Mr. Know-What-The-Speed-Limit-After-The-Green-Light-Is, it was green light when I crossed the street.” She told him as she pointed at the light for pedestrians. It was really green. “See?” She asked.
Porter clicked his tongue and shut his eyes to collect my cool. “Look here, Miss Can’t-Distinguish-A-Green-Walking-Figure-On-The-Pedestrian-Light, you—”
“WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL ME?!!!!” The lady hollered at him.
“Miss Can’t-Distinguish-A-Green-Walking-Figure-On-The-Pedestrian-Light!” Porter snapped back. “What? Can you not hear me?!” He asked in a loud tone.
The lady scoffed. “Excuse me, Mister. I know what traffic lights are! I did not live in a cave, under the rocks!” She scowled.
Porter scoffed then sighed heavily. “I don’t care wherever you’re living right now.” He told her. The lady narrowed her eyes on him. “The point is, you were crossing the street when the green light was on.” He tried to suppress his frustration.
“I told you already, Mister,” the lady sighed and shut her eyes. “The light was green with the walking person.” She repeated her previous point. “I was following the light.” She added.
Porter took a deep breath and shut his eyes, trying to keep his cool. Why can’t this lady understand that the green traffic light was on?
What was more important anyway? The green light of the pedestrian lane or the green traffic light? Of course it’s the green traffic light!
Crossing when the green traffic light is on is dangerous. Why can’t this person understand that logic?!
“HEY!” Porter and the lady looked at the traffic police shouting at them.
Their eyes widened.
Porter shut his eyes tightly. Doomed again.
The police walked to them and pointed at them. “You two!” He yelled at Porter and at the lady. “What are you doing here? Why are you fighting in the middle of the road? Don’t you know you’re disturbing a lot of people?” He ranted.
Porter looked behind him and there is a long lane of cars after them. All of them are honking at him because he illegally stopped the car in the middle of the highway.
“Shit.” He muttered under his breath and turned to walk to his car. But,
“Hey, you young man!” The police called his attention. “Where do you think are you going?” He asked.
“To work.” Porter replied. And come to think of it, he’s already late. Geez, why did he even have to bump into this kind of woman with no proper reasoning?!
The police smirked at him. “Oh, no, you can’t.” He beamed.
Porter looked at him shocked. “What? Why?” He asked.
“Because you two,” the police pointed at Porter and the lady. “…are going with me to the police station.” He finished.
“What?!” Porter and the lady chorused. Then they rolled their eyes at each other.
“You heard me.” The police beamed as some backup came and held onto Porter and the lady. “Come explain to me to the police station.” The leader told them.
And they couldn’t do anything about it.
--
“I told you, she was crossing the street when the green light was on.” Porter explained his side for the thousandth time.
“No, I did not!” The lady beamed and Porter glared at him.
Both of them are in the police station for illegal parking and jaywalking. Porter’s car was towed and he could only get it when he bails it out.
The lady looked at the police officer who’s interviewing them. “Sir, I really did not jaywalk. I was crossing the street when the green light for pedestrian was on.” She beamed.
The police officer sighed. “Look, Miss Janine Kwon, it is not about the light.” He spoke. “You’re jaywalking because you did not cross on the pedestrian lane.” He added.
The lady, apparently called Janine, stared at the police officer in disbelief. “WHAT?!” She asked. “Then why does it have a pedestrian light if it’s not a pedestrian lane?!” She asked.
Porter scoffed at Janine. “One of the stupidest persons I have ever met in my whole life.” He muttered under his breath.
“WHAT DID YOU SAY?!” Janine snapped at him.
Porter just rolled his eyes at her. Talking to her would just be a waste of time. In fact, he is wasting his time now in the police station. It’s supposed to be a very good first day for him as the new supervisor but it’s ruined because of this stupid lady. Meh.
“This mister,” Janine pointed at Porter. Porter narrowed his eyes on her.
How dare she call him mister? Doesn’t she see how even the police women are eyeing him because of his superior looks?! Huh! This girl is really stupid.
“He almost ran onto me. He almost injured me. He almost killed me!” Janine beamed. “Why are you not giving him a heavier offense?!” She protested.
Porter scoffed at her. “Excuse me, Ms. Jaywalking,” he snapped at her. “You were so lucky that I even stepped on the brake on time.” He said. “I am regretting that good deed, for your information.”
Janine scoffed at him. “Should I be thankful to you that I just ended up in the police station and not in a hospital?!” She beamed at him in anger.
Porter sneered at her. “You should.” Then he rolled his eyes.
Janine glared at him. “You’re worse than a bully, you know that?!” She snapped at Porter then she rolled her eyes.
Porter scoffed. “And you’re dumber than a newborn.” He shot back.
Janine narrowed her eyes on Porter. “Jerk.” She muttered.
“Noob.” He countered. Does this woman really think Porter will fall back easily?! Huh, nice try.
Janine was about to shot back but the police officer suddenly stopped their fight.
“You two!” The officer yelled at them. “Do you want to get out of this place or do you want to just keep on arguing like cats and dogs?!” He asked them with a firm voice.
Porter and Janine suddenly felt deflated. Of course they want to get out here. They have work.
The police officer sighed and gave each of them a piece of bond paper. “Write your offense and state that you’re not doing it again.” He beamed at them.
Porter looked at the officer in disbelief. What is he trying to do?
Does he think he is a principal and they are his students in detention? Hell, this is so funny. L didn’t even experience this at school. Why is this happening to him now?!
Then he looked at Janine who is writing fast onto the bond paper.
If not for this girl. This girl, really!
He sighed hard and started his own reflection paper. Why must this happen to him? What wrong has he done in his past life to deserve this?!
But heck, does he have a choice?
“I’m done.” Janine beamed at handed the paper to the police officer.
The police officer nodded. “Okay.” He said then he looked at Porter who is handing him his own paper. He smiled at Porter.
“Now, you apologize to each other.” The officer commanded.
Janine and Porter looked at him in disbelief. If they are just going to apologize to each other, why did they even have to write the reflection paper?
“You don’t want to?” The police officer asked as he showed them two pairs of handcuffs. Their eyes widened.
“FINE! SORRY!”
Janine was muttering a series of curses under her breath as she stepped out of the police station. How could this happen to her? How dare they accuse her of jaywalking? The Police Station is not Janine Kwon’s style. Meh.“Tss. So much for the first day of work.” She heard Porter Kim mutter behind her. She glanced at him and glared.Too much talk for someone who almost killed her, right? He doesn’t have the right to talk like that! He almost killed Janine.Janine looked away and shook her head as she walked on, leaving this reckless driver behind. She better not see his face ever again. Or all hell will break loose. She walked fast to grab a cab and hurry to the office because she just remembered that today is the day that the new boss, new supervisor, would come to work. She shut her eyes in utter annoyance. If the new boss reprimands her, there’s no one to blame but that Porter Kim, who led her to the po
“He’s the worst guy I have ever met in my whole life!!!!”Janine ranted as Johann watched her with a big smile on his face. She didn’t know why he is smiling. Is he celebrating for someone’s misfortune? Huh!“Don’t smile at me!” She whined as she pouted and crossed her arms across her chest.Johann chuckled from the screen. “Come on! Your boss can’t be that bad!” He beamed, trying to cheer her up. As much as Janine looks really cute and sexy when she’s mad, he doesn’t want to see her stressed and agitated with her annoyance in someone else.Heck, Johann is jealous with even that tinsy bit of attention that Janine is giving on someone.Janine rolled her eyes. Well, what does Johann know anyway? Of course he doesn’t know that she almost got run by a car by this same person. She didn’t want to tell him because if she did, then, Johann will be the one ranting on h
“Do you understand, Ms. Kwon?”Mr. Han, the disciplinary officer in the company, asked Janine.Janine nodded, half-heartedly. She still doesn’t get why she has to write a real Letter of Apology when in fact, she’s the victim here. How could someone, let alone a supervisor, aim to do that? She’s not his secretary for crying out loud.Mr. Han sighed as he kept the Letter of Apology that Janine made. The first one made L mad so, he reported it to the disciplinary council – to Janine’s displeasure, of course.“Okay,” he told her. “You may go now.” Then he continued to examine some papers.Janine sighed and bowed before him before leaving his office. As she came out of the door, she already saw Porter smirking on her. She immediately felt the urge to kick him in the balls. He’s so despicable! How could he be this evil?“Went well?” Porter asked her. His voi
“Janine Kwon, get me a copy of the agenda for the meeting later.”“Janine Kwon, please get these papers photocopied.”“Janine Kwon, please call Ms. Kim for the minutes of the meeting last Thursday.”“Janine Kw—”Janine shut her eyes in frustration as Porter Kim continued to order her around. When will he even understand that she is not his slave or something? Doesn’t he have a secretary for a reason? She muttered another string of curses under her breath as she stood up from her desk and followed his orders. What can she do? If she didn’t, then, this devil would report her to the disciplinary council and would write another letter of apology again. And she knows that when one writes up an apology letter up to three times, it would mean a 3-day suspension. She sighed to herself while walking to Ms. Kim’s office. Since when has she felt like this? Since when has she felt a
“How was work?” Kellan asked Porter as all seven of them huddled in their living room while watching the Asian Games.Porter shrugged. “Same old stuffs. Boring.” He replied nonchalantly while his eyes are still on the television. To be honest, his work as a supervisor is routinely. He would check on the stocks of the previous deals and make a report about it. After that, he’ll just have to ask his secretary about his agenda for the day and then poof! He’s done. This kind of work never really kept Porter interested.Hunter snickered. “Well, we don’t really know what interests you, Porter.” He told him. “You don’t like girls. You don’t like work. You don’t like anything at all.” He finished making the other members laugh at him.Porter glared at Hunter and sighed to himself as he continued to watch on the screen.Well, Hunter’s words are true. Porter doesn&rsquo
Porter was trying to get back to his old self – his despicable-to-Janine self – after being able to be that close to her. He was trying to shake the feeling off because he shouldn’t feel it. He shouldn’t be moved by mere closeness. Heck, he shouldn’t be wavered. He told her that he would wait for her outside because he just couldn’t bring himself to get back to proper breathing, proper heart beating and proper complexion. How could Janine Kwon, the girl that he pisses off every day, be the reason for this feeling?“No, Porter.” He muttered to himself. “It’s just because you haven’t been that close to a girl for long that your heart skipped a beat like that.” He shut his eyes and tried to convince himself.Porter is not the type to party unlike his friends. Well, one, he is not interested and two, he doesn’t like loud places.Porter’s a downright dork and he knows th
“What are you doing today, baby love?”Johann was all smiles at Janine as they skyped this early Saturday. They had not talked the night before because Janine got home late due to the shortage of cabs last night. Her shopping with Porter ended at 8PM and she waited until 10PM for a cab because, apparently, there were a lot of people waiting for a cab. For a second, she regretted not asking Porter to drive her home. But on second thought, why would she? More time with L would mean more time to get pissed. Hence, more time to get herself into bad mood.So she waited until 10PM and missed Skype with Johann.Janine chewed on the brownie that her roommate, Henney, baked before leaving for her own Team Building with her department.“Nothing much,” she replied while munching the brownies down. “Maybe I’ll just sleep it off all day to catch up on my sleep-deprived nights.” She grinned.Johann frowned at her.
“Is everyone here yet?” Porter asked Jonas as the other employees under his department boarded on the bus.Porter’s department would be undergoing their very own Team Building for the weekend. Everyone is so psyched about this – even those girls who were grunting in disapproval when Porter announced the theme of the team building.“Not yet, Sir.” Jonas replied.Porter sighed and clucked his tongue. It was already almost 7AM and they all agreed to meet before 7. “Who else is not here yet?” He asked as he tried to calm himself.Of all the things and traits that Porter disliked, he dislikes tardiness the most.“Manager Kwon isn’t here yet.” Jonas replied as he looked at the employees slowly getting into the bus. He was checking each employee’s presence. “She’s the only one.” He concluded as every employee had boarded the bus.Porter felt his blood rising w
