Draco’s POV
The earth rumbled, and a loud growl filled the air as we approached the borders of the Still Moon Pack. Silence, unusual for the Werewoods, hung over the rabbit- and birdless path. The tree branches shook as if startled by a significant force. Chaotic sounds of battle filled the woods as we got closer.
“Alpha, it looks like there’s a battle going on up ahead,” Sebastian conveyed through the mind link. My team journeyed toward the Still Moon Pack, fulfilling a council directive.
But that wasn’t my only goal. I would meet my mate, the Alpha of the Still Moon Pack, Sera Nerva.
We raced forward in wolf form, and dirt flew up in our wake.
Draco’s POVThe rogue had his claws on my mate’s neck, ready to sniff out her breath. The sight triggered my wolf, and with a resounding growl, Noble charged forward and swiped the rogue’s face with a paw, sending him flying. He landed at a distance, sending dirt flying all over. The rogue had a deep gash on his face. His left eye had only escaped by an inch. He stood in a hurry and scurried away in fear.My blood boiled as I watched him run off. I’d been so close to tearing him to pieces. My rage had yet to subside, and my heart pounded. I turned to my mate, only to find her watching me guardedly.A glance at her hitched my breath in my throat. She was stunningly beautiful.Locks of chestnut-brown hair curtained her oval face. She had a svelte figure. Her flawless skin shone under the sunlight with an ochreous hue. She possessed silky lashes over her hazelnut-shaped eyes. She glan
Draco’s POV“That’s Sebastian, my Beta, and these are my team of enforcers,” I said with a wave towards Sebastian and the team, ignoring their weird looks. It surprised them to see me so chatty, considering I’d ignored the other alphas who’d tried to get friendly in the other pack we’d visited. But I wasn’t concerned about that. They’d understand in time.“I am Millie, the Beta of the Still Moon Pack. Thanks for lending a hand.”The petite female from before came forward, as my mate had no intention of continuing to entertain me. She was feisty, and I enjoyed it.“This is Miles, the pack’s delta and top enforcer.”I nodded at Miles. A thoughtful expression lingered on his face. He seemed lost in deep contemplation.“You must be tired from your trip. Let’s get you guys settled in the pack
Draco’s POVShe had a tiny and high-pitched voice. The pup had thick chestnut brown hair which curled around her round, chubby face. She studied me with soft green eyes filled with questions. Something about her features was familiar, but I couldn’t place my hand on it.“Ruby, he is the pack’s guest. Come help set the table,” Cindy said, staring at the pup in disapproval.“Are you Sera’s new mate? Would we be getting a little sister?” The pup refused to bulge, and she looked ready to rip out the answers from my throat.I could now link the familiarity of her features with that of my mate. However, her questions brought up question marks of my own. How was this pup related to my mate? Was the whole pack aware of Sera’s new mate?“Ruby!”C
Draco’s POVThe living area erupted in noise as everyone exchanged greetings and settled in for lunch.I glanced at the stairs again, wondering when she would join us. Sera had been a no-show so far. I was getting impatient, and my wolf was getting antsy. Feeling a gaze on me, I glanced up to find Miles watching me closely. He had the same unreadable look as when we first met. His sharpness as a wolf meant he must have detected my scent on my mate. That was surprising because the others were too distracted to notice.I looked away from him and glanced at Sebastian and the rest of my team. They were all enjoying themselves as they dug into their plates. The tantalizing smell of grilled chicken caressed my nostrils, and I turned to attack my plate. I was as famished as the rest at the table.I studied the entire room as I ate.The atmosphere was harmonious, and I noticed
Draco’s POVA surge of protective instincts welled in me as I wondered what the problem was. Millie’s words cut my musings short.“This way, please,” she said, leading the way as Sebastian and I trailed along. The meeting room was a large, airy room that smelled like lavender. The room contained rows of seats that could fit many. However, for this meeting, only 5 persons would be in attendance.Everyone filed in and took up seats at the head of the main table in the room. I had Sebastian on my right, Miles and Millie on my left, and Sera sat far from me.“I believe we have all been properly introduced. Then let’s get right down to business.” Sera said in a grave tone.I watched the words leave my mate’s lips as she commanded the room with a glance. A sudden urge to grab her and kiss her senseless before everyone, right here and now, filled
Draco’s POVThere had to have been something that made them take such a risk. Something that assured them of victory. Something that only an insider scoop could give them. There was a spy in my mate’s pack, and I was going to find out who it was.Sera shared a look with Miles and Millie. I got the feeling that they knew the reason for the sudden attack of the rogues. There was something they were not telling us, and I was determined to find out.Sera stared at me. “Ralf, the former beta of the pack, led the rogues. We are yet to find out why they suddenly attacked now after staying quiet for so long.”Miles continued, “We’ve been trying to locate Ralf’s hideout to wipe them out for good, to no avail. Max has been out for so long trying to trace them.”Sebastian asked, “Who’s Max?” Millie was the one who replied. “He is a member of this pack and also an enforcer. He handles all external affairs of the pack.”I was silently watching them.“Have you ever considered that a spy in the pac
Draco’s POV I haven’t been this aroused since the death of my fated mate about 5 years ago. My wolf howled in joy. The delayed reunion with our mate had taken a toll on him. To a wolf, being without its mate was torture, and most couldn’t last long with their other half. “You must be joking if you think I would give up,” I said nonchalantly. A surge of possessiveness filled my bones. My wolf came to the fore at her words. My eyes shone an eerie grey in the airy meeting room. I wasn’t letting her out of my sight for a moment. Not even the Council could prevent me from being with my mate. Sera stared daggers at me, but I didn't care. There was no escaping this. “You can’t force me into this. A mating can only succeed if it’s consensual..” I stopped her words with my lips. She remained frozen in shock as I kissed her. I took advantage of her shock to deepen the kiss. She began struggling against me, but I had a firm grip on her. I had her where I wanted her, with no in
Sera’s POVMy trembling legs gave way just as Draco exited the meeting room. My heart pounded relentlessly, and I crumpled into the nearest chair.I could still feel his lips on mine. The intensity of the kiss had left me breathless and wanting more. I tried to feel nothing, to pretend to be unaffected by him, but it wasn’t working. It had been a struggle to keep up the facade. I desperately wanted to embrace Draco and welcome our beautiful bond, but I couldn’t risk my pack’s safety. This pack had been the only thing left of my once beautiful family and I couldn’t trust anyone to take over while I sat at the back burner. The last time I’d trusted anyone, it’d ended with the deaths of my family members. Dylan had taught me, and I’d learned. I’d learned that letting people in was like throwing open the doors to your perfectly maintained mansion for pests and flies to feast. The resultant effect was always ugly to look at.Succumbing to Draco’s wish would mean handing over the lives of
Draco’s POVI moved even closer to Aria as she watched me with that familiar, harmless, disarming smile on her face. But that smile couldn't disarm this Alpha as I was no fool. I watched her with a sharp look and a grim smile.“Which pack did you say you came from? Remind me.”My voice filled with murderous intent.“Alpha, I have lost…”I was waiting to hear her cooked-up stories when Sebastian’s voice came once again through the mind link.I put up a finger, signaling to Aria to hold on as my eyes glazed over, signaling that a connection had been established through the mind link.“Alpha, we have a situation here. We are having difficulty getting through the line of enforcer here.”“Enforcers?”“Yeah. A couple of enforcers are insisting we leave and have refused to let us in.”I let out a sigh as I ran my fingers through my hair, eyes still on the female shifter before me.This interrogation was going to wait.“I’m on my way now. Try to control the situation to prevent things from e
Draco’s POV“Alright. Just approach the enforcers while I inform Sera,” I responded through the mind link.I took a glance at my reflection in the mirror, making sure there was no issue before exiting the room.Once I arrived at the Still Moon Pack with Sera from the Crescent Hills, and the pack knew my identity and purpose, they put me in the guest room at the far end of the west wing.It was a large and comfortable room which was just next to that of Miles and Max, but it was far off the east wing, which had Sera’s room at the extreme end of the wing.Since each wing had about 5-6 rooms, that placed about 8-10 rooms between my room and Sera’s room.As far away as possible.I’d caught Millie’s sly grin as she assigned me to the room, so I knew what she’d been up to.But I hadn’t minded.Because I had plans of my own.Plans to move from room 12 to room 1 in the uppermost wings of the pack house.I glanced at Max’s and Miles’ doors as I walked past, headed straight to my mate’s room.B
Draco’s POV“Alpha, we are almost at the Still Moon Pack’s border.”Sebastian’s unmistakable voice came into my sea of consciousness as I slept, and my eyes immediately snapped open.I was in the large, Queen sized bed in the guest room of the Still Moon Pack’s pack house.“When will you be arriving?” I asked as I sat up on the bed, still grouchy from sleep.“We should be there by mid-morning. The team seems wary, but it’s more important to complete the trip ASAP. So, it’s nothing we can not handle,” Seb concluded.“Okay. Inform me when you arrive at the borders,” I said.“Yes, Alpha,” Seb replied and cut off the connection.I sighed as I fell back on the bed, my arms crossed behind my head, staring up at the chandelier hanging from the ceiling of the room.It was a beautiful piece with an intricate design and complex curves, but my mind was far away from it.I glanced around the guest room and sighed in satisfaction. The room’s sparse furnishings included mismatched furniture and a s
Sera’s POV“Alpha, we have a problem!”I was in the pack’s dining area having breakfast with Draco, Miles, and Max, and finalizing the details for Draco’s pack when the doors burst open and Grace, Max’s sister, came in through the doors and exclaimed with a pale face.I glanced up at her, a frown creasing my brows as I asked, “Grace, what’s wrong? What’s going on?”She came forward panting.Max sent her a glass of water, which she gulped down without pause as we watched.“Some pack members who are against the merger of the two packs are kicking up a ruckus in protest!”I let out a sigh, all my appetite for the dish of cold roast chicken and a glass of strawberry juice before me long forgotten. After the incident with Ruby in the nursery, everything had passed in a blur, as preparations for the merger had occupied our time. After the meeting with the leadership of the pack, the news spread like wildfire in the pack. The pack members had mixed reactions to the news. The logical ones amo
Sera’s POVWe all fell silent at Ruby’s words and even the pups around strained their ears, waiting to hear Draco’s reply.I turned to Draco, whom Ruby had put on the spot, as if I were watching a spectacle. We were all waiting to see how he’d handle her.As we all watched, Draco crunched down before Ruby, looking her in the eye. He let out his all too familiar wide grin and finally gave a reply.“Yes, I am Sera’s mate. My name is Draco, the Alpha of the Silva Moon Pack. I am the father of your niece or nephew, which is going to come out any time from now.”I gasped at his words.Ruby’s eyes took on a vicious glint, which I’d never seen, and she reached out to hit Draco before anyone could stop her.“Bad Alpha. You are the bad wolf that got Sera pregnant and left her all alone,” Ruby said, her hands crossed over her chest in defiance. My eyes widened, and I watched, amazed at how my sister had defended me. My eyes brimmed with tears and my vision blurred, but my heart surged with so m
Sera’s POV“You mean Alpha Draco of the Silva Moon Pack? The strongest shifter in all the Werewoods?” Max couldn’t keep his mouth closed as he stared at my mate, looking amazed.I fought hard to hold in my laughter, and the looks on Miles’ and Millie’s faces betrayed their amusement.Max had always been a fan of strong shifters and always raved about them. It was no wonder that he was also a fan of Draco, an Alpha who’d accomplished so much while we were all still playing around in the pack, merely pups. He’d become the young Alpha in his teenage years and built the strongest team of enforcers the Werewood has ever seen. That team was now going to move into this pack and become a part of us.I could already see Max’s reaction when he found out.Draco had a smug look at Max’s reaction to his identity. I hit him on his arm discreetly, while no one else was looking. He was having fun at my friend’s expense and I could have that.“Yes, in flesh and blood.” Draco responded with a slight
Sera’s POV“What?!” I exclaimed, unable to believe my ears.Max had delayed his return to the pack for so long that when we’d received a letter stating that he was close to the pack just before I got summoned by the Council, I’d brushed it off like it was another one of his reassurances. The harsh sound of screeching chair legs against the floor came from the side of the meeting room as Grace exclaimed with excitement, “My brother is back!”Like a whirlwind, she ran past the panting enforcer towards the exit, all thoughts of the ongoing meeting long forgotten.Miles and I exchanged glances.Max was back just in time before we begun big changes to the pack.I couldn’t help but be curious about the outcome of his investigation into the backgrounds and origin of the new pack members we had.It was just as well that we cleared out the spies before setting up the new pack.“Thank you, Joseph. You may take your leave,” I said to the messenger enforcer with a small smile.“Yes, Alpha.” He t
Sera’s POV“What? A union of both packs? Mates? This is absurd!” Elder Philips exclaimed while the rest of my pack remained silent.“How is that possible? They can’t just command two shifters to get mated on a whim, right?” Max’s sheltered little sister, Grace, looked downright confused as she glanced around the room.We all knew that the Council could do whatever it pleased as it reigned supreme in the Werewoods, but no one was going to upset the she-wolf by telling her that.“The idea of uniting two packs is ridiculous. I mean, no one has ever tested it in the Werewoods,” Steve said, shaking his head slightly.“Which is why the Council has placed the union on a three-month probation. If either of the packs feels that strongly that things are not working out, they can secure a reversal by putting forth a convincing argument to the Council,” I said, hoping to reassure them. There was an inaudible sigh of relief that filled the room.Everyone looked relieved at my words, and the frown
Sera’s POV“Just in time,” Cindy said, as she watched us walk into the dining area. Her face showed her disapproval as she stood arm akimbo in the large dinning. The Omegas assigned to the kitchen, Lydia and Aria, were clearing the dishes used by pack members during their breakfast and cleaning up the tables. We didn’t make it in time for breakfast with the pack.“Had you been a minute late, you would have had to microwave your meal yourself,” she said without a hint of a smile. The pack’s meal time was sacred to Cindy, and we always tried to ensure we made it in time every day. As the pack’s cook and the one in charge of our everyday meals, she hated food wastage even more.“Hello to you too, Cindy. I had to urge them to come down earlier. If not, they wouldn’t be out until noon,” Draco said as he moved forward to take a seat.I glared at him in mock outrage while Millie just looked from one person to another, confused by Draco’s statement.I ignored the snitching wolf and turned to
