Miranda's Point of View

> Two weeks later <<

Vincenzo and I haven't seen or heard from each other during this period. Lorenzo, on the other hand, is still hell-bent on catching the violator.

He's no longer openly accusing Vincenzo, but he has his guards keep a close watch on Vincenzo's mansion, and they report everything to him.

"What do you think, Claire? Should I change my dress today?" I asked while checking myself out in the mirror.

"I don't think anything is wrong with your dress," she replied.

I twisted my lips as I doubtfully inspected myself, trying to look for an agreeable excuse to change it.

"Everything is wrong with the dress. I don't like it. It's hideous and makes me look old," I whined.

"Huh? You've always worn this dress for your rituals, Luna."

"I don't know... Maybe we should add a little color?" I asked suggestively.

I recalled the last time Vincenzo saw me in this dress—he called me a ghost—and I've been self-conscious every time I wear it, hoping and praying he doesn't see me in it again.

Hold on, since when did I start caring about Vincenzo's impression of me?

"I'm not dressing up to impress him," I said out loud before I could stop myself. Claire gave me a weird look but didn't say anything. She can't query me, though.

"Should we go now?" she asked.

Taking a final look at myself in the mirror, I nodded. "Yes."

Today's ritual was quick. Maurice is getting tired of these rituals as much as I am, so he skipped a few steps.

"When will you stop doing these rituals?" I heard Vincenzo's voice behind me, and my heart skipped.

I don't understand why, but I keep getting nervous every time his thought crosses my mind these days. I cleared my throat quietly and composed myself.

"Stop sneaking up on me like that!" I scolded him.

"It's not my fault you're a scaredy-cat."

I scoffed, rolling my eyes. "Look around." I gestured at the creepy-looking things Maurice hung on his lair's walls. "Can you blame me for being scared in a place like this?"

Even though I come to Maurice's lair every day, the weird aesthetics still creep me out. There are horns of different animals hanging on the walls, and he has a crow in a cage that won't stop cawing.

"What are you doing here anyway?" I asked.

He sighed. "I came to see you."

"Aren't Lorenzo's men keeping an eye on you? How did you manage to get out?"

"Lorenzo and his men can't keep me on house arrest. I've only been laying low because I didn't want to bring trouble to you."

"Oh." I smiled mischievously. "Does that mean you risked everything just to see me?" My tone was surprisingly flirtatious.

What is wrong with you, Miranda?! I mentally scolded myself.

"Wha... What are you doing?" I stuttered as I took quick steps backward, trying to get away from Vincenzo, who kept closing the distance between us.

"Will you leave my brother and be with me if I risk everything right now?"

"Vincenzo, you must be..." My words stuck in my throat as my back hit the wall, meaning there's no way to escape anymore.

Vincenzo put his hands on both sides of the wall, caging me and looking straight into my eyes. He leaned closer to my ear, then whispered,

"After all, we're mates originally. What do you think?"

My heart wouldn't stop beating as his hot breath fanned my neck and his lips brushed my ear. Sparks shot through my veins as I felt excited all of a sudden.

"I'm kidding," he said, pulling away from me.

"Fuck!" I swore as my chest rose and fell rapidly while I tried to catch my breath and stabilize my mind. It's suddenly hot in here—I said to myself mentally.

"I won't force you to do anything that is against your will. I'm not my brother. If we are to be together, we'll be together openly and legally."

Maurice cleared his throat as if to remind us we were not alone.

Vincenzo grabbed my hand.

"Come on. I came to take you somewhere," he said, pulling me along.

"Where are you taking me? What if Lorenzo sees us together?" I panicked.

"Nobody will see us. We're not going outside."

I wanted to resist, but my legs had a mind of their own. They wouldn't stop following him.

"Should I come along, Luna?" Claire asked.

"Er..."

"Wait here," Vincenzo replied in my stead.

We approached a dark hallway. I was scared it was going to be like that tunnel we’ve been using to get to his father's cell, but lights flicked on immediately as we stepped foot in the hallway.

"Thank the Moon Goddess there's light here," I whispered in relief, but Vincenzo heard me and chuckled.

"I installed the lights three days ago because I know you're scared of the dark."

"Really?" I couldn't help my blush. "You really should stop being so attentive to me, or I might fall in love with you," I said in a joking tone—heaven knows I'm not joking, though.

"That's my intention, baby." He played along, making my cheeks heat up more.

We continued the rest of the journey in silence. After walking for about fifteen minutes, I stopped and huffed.

"How long do we have to walk? My bones aren't as strong as yours. I'm not young anymore," I whined.

He rolled his eyes. "You're only twenty-four."

"And you think twenty-four is a joke?" I placed my hands on my waist with the disagree with me and get a taste of my fist look on.

He raised his hands in surrender.

"Fine. You're old."

I huffed again, turning my face away from him.

"Come on. Just a few more steps."

We continued walking, and true to his words, we only walked for two minutes before he said, "We've arrived."

My brows furrowed as I stared at the sight before us.

"Are you sure we've arrived? This is a dead end," I said.

"No, it's not," he replied.

He placed his palm on the wall, and it flipped open, revealing another hallway—but it's brighter than the one we're currently in.

"Come on," he said, stepping into the hallway. I quickly followed him.

"Where does this hallway lead to?"

"My home," he replied casually.

"What?!"

  • Her Sweet Revenge.   Chapter 18

Miranda's Point of ViewClaire looked expectantly at me after asking that question. Not wanting to sound or appear awkward, I cleared my throat and walked toward the kitchen."He's my brother-in-law. It's not strange that we're friendly with each other," I said."But you behave more than friendly with him. Others would think there's something going on between you. Even the Luna Queen mistook him to be your mate, and neither of you corrected her," she argued politely."Hm, you're quite observant." I faced her and put a hand on her shoulder. "I know you feel like I'm cheating on your Alpha or betraying him, but trust me, you'll soon understand everything that's going on."She wasn’t satisfied with my response, but she didn’t argue either. She simply nodded quietly. It's not that I don't want to tell her the truth, but Lorenzo had placed her by my side to spy on me, after all... I can't risk letting her in on our plan.As if she sensed my guard against her, she smiled softly."I'll alway

  • Her Sweet Revenge.   Chapter 17

Miranda's point of viewBy the time I was done talking with Lorenzo on the phone, it was almost dark outside. He just kept reminding me how I should behave myself and shouldn’t bring shame to the pack.“...Miranda is friends with the Luna Queen,” I heard Vincenzo say to someone on the phone as I entered the house.“Who’s that?” I asked him in a whisper.“Your father-in-law,” he replied.“Oh.” I shook my head at how he was referring to his father.“I have to go, Dad. I have something very important to discuss with Miranda,” he said and hung up.I raised my brows. “What do we have to discuss?”“Nothing. I was just tired of his endless talk and needed an excuse to end the call,” he answered.I simply nodded. I slumped on a sofa next to his and faced him.“You were on the phone with Lorenzo for so long,” he cleared his throat. “What were you two talking about?”“He was just reminding me to behave myself.” I adjusted myself on the sofa.“Right. When do you intend to tell your friend about

  • Her Sweet Revenge.   Chapter 16

Miranda's Point of ViewAfter driving for about six or seven hours, the big gates to the Alpha King's palace finally came into view. The Alpha King doesn't have a pack. His palace is built on neutral land, but there are werewolves other than the royals living there too—werewolves who were banished from their packs but didn't want to become rogues.Vincenzo didn't talk to me throughout the drive. He was just sulking over the kiss Lorenzo gave me before we left. He threw his head back on his seat and closed his eyes."How do you feel after not saying a word up till now?" I asked."I feel good," he replied, still keeping his eyes closed.I mimicked his expression and sniffled a laugh. He's definitely going to be a very jealous lover, no doubt."I know you're mocking me," he said.I rolled my eyes. "Whatever."We drove another few minutes before we arrived at the Alpha King's palace. My brows furrowed when I saw my heavily pregnant friend standing outside with some maids, as if they were

  • Her Sweet Revenge.   Chapter 15

Miranda's Point of View"Why are you smiling?" Lorenzo asked, his tone firm and serious.I mentally rolled my eyes at his suspicious nature. He suspects everyone and everything around him because he's evil incarnate."I'm just excited. It's been ages since Anna and I saw each other," I lied—Lorenzo has turned me into a perpetual liar recently.Although my words aren't entirely lies—Anna is my best friend, and we haven't seen each other since we found our mates."Hm. A lot has been going on in the pack recently. It's not a good time for me to travel," he explained—not that I needed his explanation."Em... It wouldn't be nice if I attend the event alone. Even though I'm your Luna, it'll be nice to have someone accompany and represent you over there," I said."Yes, I thought about that. Maurice is going with you.""Maurice?"My tone dropped in disappointment. I had thought Vincenzo would be the first person to cross his mind, since he's the Beta."You don't seem satisfied with my arrange

Genevieve's Point of ViewEnzo faced me with a pleading expression.“Babygirl, can you trust me just this once?” he asked.“Why can’t he say it in front of me? I want to know who’s after my life,” I argued.“I will tell you once we get home. I just want to confirm something privately with him,” he explained.I wanted to argue. I wanted to stay and hear who was intending to kill me, but we’d just talked about trust, and I shouldn’t start doubting him because of this.“Okay,” I said and went out. I met Cora outside; she rushed after me as I stormed toward the direction of the children’s playground.>>>>>>>Third Person's Point of View“Speak! Who was it?” Enzo asked after he made sure Genevieve was out of hearing.“It’s your father, sir.”Enzo clenched his jaw, his eyes darkened, and the anger brewing in him could set the orphanage ablaze.“Don’t tell my wife about this, no matter how hard she pressures you!” he said.“Yes, boss.”Just as the man was about to leave, Enzo called him back

  • Her Sweet Revenge.   Chapter 13

Genevieve's Point of View"Why do you look so surprised? You didn't know about this?" Mrs. Peter asked with a surprised frown. I guessed she was expecting I'd already know about it.I didn’t respond; I was simply staring at the building in awe.Mrs. Peter laughed at my expression."Did Mr. Enzo tell you why he came here?" Cora asked her."Yes. He said he did something wrong and he's too ashamed to face his wife, so he came to hide here," Mrs. Peter answered. She chuckled as she shook her head in disbelief."I can't believe I lived to see the day when the almighty Enzo Raffaele Fabio would be scared of facing someone—to the extent that he had to run away from his home."I blushed at her words but didn’t say anything."Where is Mr. Enzo now?" Cora asked again."He's at the playground. The kids just returned from school, so he's with them.""Alright, Mrs. Peter. We shouldn't take too much of your time. I'll show Mrs. Enzo around," Cora said."Yes, yes," Mrs. Peter said, facing me. "You s
