Chapter 4

Jane’s point of view:

It was the first time I had seen mom like that, jittery and not confident in herself, and it is also the first time since last two years we find ourselves coming out of the office this late, but even as late as it is, people are still outside waiting.

“lets just follow outback, I don’t think I can handle anymore heat” says mom, even her face looks so dejected.

“yeah something happened” I mouth to myself, as I put my hands into my favorite brand of jeans. So, let’s get this straight, I’m a model for the clothes section in the MacPherson’s brand store, there are also some of the others who are only for the cosmetics, well I am too, but who cares.

“I need a bottle of water Shirley” I tell mom’s personal assistant.

She smiles at me and goes back to wherever.

“is signed the black boy up jane” says mom looking out the window, I’m about to take a seat when I hear it.

“you did something, didn’t you?”

“I know you know what I did, no need to rub it in” even her voice sounds raspy.

“I know it would work to your advantage, its your first time signing a black, so.”

My mom looks at me, and releases a sound, that sounded so weird, but I choose not to ponder on that, I stretch my bones, and smile, thinking of the comfort that awaits me at home.

“I really need something to drink” I comment, we wait for another two minutes before Shirley comes, with four bottles of water. Oh God bless her soul; she always loves being prepared.

“lets go Jonah” orders mom, the car roars to life and we both move to our comfort, even the journey home wasn’t as warm as when we were coming to work, now its just plain ass cold, even the weather confirmed by each cool breeze that slapped  my face.

Immediately Jonah drops me off, few streets away from mother’s house, I smile and wave him goodbye, my bones already itching to get into the shower.

The doors to my house opens on their own leading me to the very spacious sitting room, so much for being rich, my house is like an epitome of space, I don’t do well with crowded areas, the shelves on the wall are hung appropriately, each color, blend to give a modern touch, the glass chairs and table makes the sitting room look even more beautiful, and then the artificial fire place just beneath the television. I twirl round the sitting room till my butt finds the cushion.

“his eyes though” I say out loud, the black boy’s eyes are so intriguing my brain cannot help but replay his eyes.

“he might amount to something” I say, I walk in my in-house slippers, letting my feet rest against the furry parts of the slipper.

“time for a bath” I yawn, only if I make it in time to the bathroom.
