The humans didn't hold up their end of the agreement. They didn't keep her safe. I knew I should have retrieved her a few years ago when she came of age. But she hadn't shifted yet. Nor had she shown any signs of it and would have been defenseless if we were attacked. And the whole point in sending her away was to keep her safe. Hell, the whole point in the entire pack laying low for the last fifteen years was to keep her safe. The humans were meant to watch her, and they were supposed to notify us of the first signs of her getting closer to her first shift. But they chose to leave her alone for days at a time. So they didn't notice the signs until it was too late. They had not kept her as safe as they had let us believe. No, they had let her go off with a human boy who thought he owned her and put his hands on her. No, the only one at the end of the day that kept her safe was a small rogue family that had moved to the area a week ago. The rogue boy had seen the signs of
