Chapter 1

ELOISE-

I had done it.

I had truly committed the one crime I had promised not to.

The glow in his eyes had begun to fade, his strokes vanishing like they never existed. His twitching lips, which he had used to let out such a beautiful smile, were now stained with blood.

“Why Eloise?” He muttered.

I shrieked, staggering back as I gazed at my work of art. It was remarkable but filled with nothing but pain and a touch of blood. The knife had done it all, ripping his broad chest and cutting the ligaments in his muscles; death was inevitable at this point.

He began to let out short, rapid breaths, the knife piercing more and more through his skin as it pondered closer to his heart. I knelt before him, my hands trembling before me as I realized what I had done.

… I had killed an Alpha, the leader of a pack.

“I hope you have a good reason for doing this, Eloise.” He gasped, his legs trembling as the knife pondered deep.

“I’m sorry.” Tears rolled down my eyes as I watched him bleed.

I could still save him; I could change the hands of time and get him to a medic, but what would he think about me? What would be my punishment for failing to comply with his task? Would I survive the beating this time? Would I ever get to be his forever? The thoughts kept coming as the Alpha struggled for his life.

“Dad?” Noah walked in, his eyes widened as he gazed at his dying father. He gazed at me, running towards his father like he truly loved and cared about him.

“Son? Help me to the medics…” he coughed out blood.

Noah’s eyes rolled, the long, curled, and sinister strokes of the Alpha appearing on his eyeballs. He began to chuckle, a sinister aura cloaking him.

“I can’t help you, Father.” He let out a smirk, pushing the knife deeper. My gut twisted as I watched the Alpha gasp for oxygen, his life pushing to the last seven minutes.

“Noah?” The Alpha stammered as Noah turned the knife in a clockwise direction, blood spewing out like a leaking tap.

“You can’t give my position as Alpha to a lowly woodcarver, never.” He grunted, cutting his chest wide open.

I stood there, watching him laugh like a mad scientist. This was it, the man I had given my life and soul to. The man I had claimed to love like a hen to her chicks.

He brought out a new knife, handing it to me. “Stab him.”

I lowered my head, scared to commit the same crime once more. I was already remorseful, judging myself for ever listening to his threats.

“You did it once, and you’ll do it once more.” He squeezed the knife in my hands.

“I wouldn’t listen to you anymore. You threatened me to kill him, and now you want me to stab his corpse? I just can’t do this anymore.” I wailed.

“Do you love me, Eloise?” His eyes glowed.

I did; I loved him more than I loved myself. He was the only one I had; my family and I planned to do anything to keep him, but it just didn’t flow with me.

“Then stab him.”

“I can’t.”

He grabbed my neck, slamming my head onto the desk next to him. I squealed in pain, but with the soundproof room, I knew I was just stressing my voice box.

“You’re going to do this, and we’re going to get out of here like this never happened.”

His grip on my neck tightened, my breath rasping and short as I choked. My eyes were starting to close, my cornea almost vanishing in the process. “Now do it.”

“Forgive me, Alpha.” Tears rolled down my eyes as I held the knife to his chest and thrust it right in.

Tears rolled down my eyes as I felt his heart die down with the knife piercing it. I had ended his life just like he wanted.

“It’s okay, love; he deserved it.” His hands moved to my waistline, pulling me closer to him. “I love you, Eloise.”

…They say love is the bedrock of all things, the soul creator and the one thing that led to faith and destiny. I thought it was true, chasing the thought that I would find the right one who would care for me.

I had fallen for him after he had taken down the Alpha of the Crimson Moon pack in a single blow; it was magical. I was petite then; rags were my motto, and my hair scattered like a thrashed house.

Girls were always throwing him chic glances, moving their bodies seductively to win his heart, but he had never fallen for it. They were better than me, and he had rejected them—I had no chance, a weak and wretched omega.

I forgot about him, hoping I would find the right one for me, but then he comes crashing through my house built of bamboo sticks, asking for a chance to be mine.

Filled with excitement, I had accepted him immediately, shoving whatever pride I had kept to the bin. He took care of me, changed my apparel, and made me into the woman I never thought I could be.

A year Into our relationship, he suddenly changed. His eyes, which had sparkled with love and anxiety, now held a sinister aura. I began begging to live every day of my life as he tortured me and sent me midway between the realm and the afterlife. It turned out toxic.

The thought of leaving always crossed my mind, but then I had nothing to return to, no one to call except my best friend, Matilda, who had left the territory for another. I was all alone in this big world of mine.

…”I’ll never leave your side, Eloise; you’ve been loyal to me, risking your life just for me. I really appreciate it.” His voice went soft; was he remorseful?

“This is the last phase, Eloise; you’ve made me an Alpha.” He chuckled, licking the blood off his knife and positioning it right on my nape.

“I’m sorry, Eloise.”
