Damian took a few bold steps closer to his mother, and she instinctively moved back, wondering what went on in his mind. What has come over her son? Where was the boy she nurtured from birth, groomed to be able to fit into the Brown's family? How did he get out of her hold without her realizing it? What has that insolent Olivia witch done to her precious boy?

Cecilia looked up at his towering figure, and she saw it. No trace of emotion, just a bland face that connoted shame and disappointment. He was ashamed to call her his mother. Instead of feeling remorse, Cecilia's zeal was reinforced. Her son deserves nothing but the best, and Laurie was the best!

"Don't you dare look at me in such a condescending manner, boy. I birthed you, groomed you to be the perfect business man that you are today and-"

"Perfect, huh?" Damian chirped in, a brow raising in search for a valid answer to his question.

"You actually did groom me to be the perfect business man, and you," He pointed at her "De

Lance. It must be him. He probably knew that she was here with Darian. Hell, he knew from the start that she accepted Olivia's offer to work at Arthur's group. He most probably also knew that she slept in the Arthur's estate the night before. Rosie felt her blood freeze with fright. Cold chills ran through her as she thought back to the fire outage in Darian's room. Could he be the perpetrator of the havoc in room 124? Rosie slowly turned to Darian, who had a questioning look on his face. He had seen her turn pale with terror the moment she stared at her phone. He could see the way she gripped the phone, so much that the whites of her knuckles became evident, and he didn't have to wonder for long. Something was definitely wrong, and he wasn't going to ask her. People like her hid things the most, they would bear all their brunt while wallowing in misery... Just like he did from childhood. He cared about Rosie too much to allow that to happen, or maybe he doesn't. "What's the

Darian stared down at a petrified looking Rosie Adams. Her lips were slightly opened, and her chest rose and fell with each breath she took. He shut his eyes and released a soft sigh that depicted frustration. "What..." She opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by Darian. "There was a fire outage in my room. It's late and I can't go about looking for a place to spend the night." 'And you decided to come here?' the little voice in her head asked in incredulity. Rosie did all she could to stop the chuckle that threatened to escape her mouth. Nah, she can't laugh. She needed to be sympathetic. That was the word for it. They held gazes, each one expecting the other to suggest him sleeping over in her room. "Sorry, but you can't sleep here if that's what you want." Rosie's curt voice broke the tension hanging in the hair, right before she slammed the door in his face. She stalked back to her bed and gingerly sat on it, tucking a stray red hair to the back and wondering what

NEXT MORNINGOlivia's mouth was set in a tight line as she remained seated stoically on her executive seat. She was facing a number of 23 executives and Amelia Cobbs, the blonde haired auditing assistant, an intern who luckily got into the organization, was standing in front of the dogged Board of Executives. Everyone dreaded having to stand in the presence of the board for one mistake or the other, as they would be meticulously scrutinized. The slightest idea that a worker is guilty as charged is all Ivan Arthur needed to put the worker in their place. He was absent today, since he just got back from a trip. Olivia commanded silence and the hall that was earlier dominated by hush voices that suggested rebuke and disgust became as quiet as a graveyard. "Amelia Cobbs, did you mess with Miss Rosie Adams' tires in the basement yesterday?" "No, I didn't." Amelia curtly replied, keeping a straight face on. Anyone could have thought she was innocent unless they looked behind her, wh

"Isn't... Isn't that Amelia Cobbs?" Rosie asked no one in particular in a strangulated voice. "I suppose so," Olivia calmly responded, and leaned backward on her seat. In her head was a whirlwind of thoughts on why Amelia, a devoted and lovely worker, would puncture Rosie's tyres. She knew Rosie since they were in high school, and apart from their college days when Rosie was a badass and would stick her middle finger in your face for trying to get in her way, there was nothing really unpleasant about her. They separated when Rosie went to an acting academy and she, to a business school. When they finally met with themselves after Olivia's marriage and Rosie's debut movie that threw her into the limelight, Olivia observed that Rosie had grown, much reasonably, in a positive way. She always had a warm smile on her face, would give kids sweets, and had a lovely demeanor. She still dealt with assholes properly, but overall, she never asked for trouble without being stimulated. "W

Damian calculated how much time he had to prepare for the gala in his head as he drove down to a high rise shopping outlet when he was done for the day. He briskly walked in, ignoring the stares he got from people, the coos and shrieks from ladies and the hand extended to him by a man who looked like the clothings collection manager. "Get me a collection of the finest suits." He finally told the man who in turn, dished out instructions to the ladies that waited by the counter. Damian's face remained straight, his hands were neatly tucked in his pocket as he glanced at the array of suits when they were brought to him. He needed to pick the best pairs, he needed a pair that would make him stand out. He wondered about getting a tux and remembered that he had a whole magnanimous closet allocated to his collection of suits in his mansion. So why was he here? Damian chuckled lightly at his rhetorical question. "This..." The man gestured towards an eye-catching suit, stoned at the s
