Chapter 9 - The VisitMason followed Kelsey through the hall. It was still bothering him who they were visiting but it sure wasn't her father since they were in a children's hospital.Kelsey approached the counter and talked to the nurse. Mason pulled up in front of his condo and the valet boy was waiting for him to give his car keys so he could park it for him.He twisted the key as the car's engine died and stopped roaring. He then glanced at the passenger seat, only to find Kelsey in a middle of a nap. Not wanting to disturb her from her sleep, he quietly shut the door closed and gave his key to the valet boy."Bring all the luggages to my room." He demanded as the valet boy nodded in return. Kelsey heard the ringing of the doorbell startling her. She put the last pile of clothes in the drawer and closed it. She slowly stood up from the floor shaking her numb legs. She then started making her way down the stairs and saw the siblings greeting each other."So, where is she?" The gentle voice of the beautiful woman standing beside Mason asked. She was indeed gorgeous and it was no doubt she and Mason were siblings. They had good genes. They both had brown hair but Mason had really dark hair whereas his sister had more of chocolate brown hair with some blonde highlights. They also both had ocean blue eyes and tall figure. Kelsey stared at them amazed that they looked as if they had just finished modelling for a fashion show.Mason glanced to his right only to see Kelsey standing at the foot of the staircase. "Nina, if there are any important and urgent calls, tell me and put me through. But if they're not, leave them, I'll handle it tomorrow." Mason commanded as Nina nodded in understanding."Yes sir." She answered."Alright, I best be going then." He announced and left the office. Once he was in his car, he glanced at his gold watch and checked the time. It was already 4:37 and it would take him about half an hour to get home since it was already traffic hours. He sighed and figure it was fine to be late for a couple of minutes.~ * ~ * ~"Are you sure that I look fine?" Kelsey asked Ella for the millionth time."You look perfect, Kelsey. Now stop asking or I'm going to put some tape on your mouth." She threatened shutting Kelsey up. "Remember, table manners. Also, if your make-up fades, just touch it up. I put all the make-up you need in this purse." She said handing her the purse as Kelsey took it."Alright." Kelsey nodded and reassured Ella with a smile. "I think I'll be fine."

Kelsey didn't say a word on their way home, even when they reached his penthouse. Mason noticed her quietness but ignored it. He wasn't really up for a conversation anyway. Kelsey placed her purse on the couch and made a bee-line to the kitchen. She was completely starving. During the dinner, she couldn't stomach to eat anything. She couldn't eat as Mason and Jonathan discussed how she and Mason supposedly met and fell in love.She opened the fridge and found some strawberries and whipped cream. She took them out together with a cold bottled water. She rinsed the strawberries and grabbed some to place on a plate. Then, she sat on a stool by the counter and poured some whipped cream on the strawberries and started eating them savoring the taste.Mason was almost in his room to get change and call it a day when he suddenly felt thirsty. Delilah and Kelsey arrived at a garden restaurant around 10:30 am. Mason left for work at the same time as they left for their brunch. Delilah's chauffer drove them there and Delilah didn't need to reserve a spot to be seated right away. She would come there once in a while to have tea with her friends."Mrs. King, welcome!" A cheery lady that looked about in her late twenties came and greeted them. She smiled at both of them but eyed Kelsey a little longer than expected. "The usual spot, ma'am?""Yes, Zoey, please lead the way." Delilah said leading them to the table near the fountain. The view was amazing. It was colourful due to the flowers surrounding the garden and the air was very refreshing.Once they were seated, Kelsey couldn't help but asked, "Do you come here often?" She wondered."Only when my friends invite me for tea. I don't usually come here but the staff here knows me well." Delilah answered as they both placed their napkin on their lap."I see." Kelsey decided to get up at around five thirty in the morning when she gave up on getting some sleep. She'd been trying to get some rest but Delilah and Georgia's words kept haunting her. She knew it wasn't part of the plan to fall in love and if it ever happened, she knew she wouldn't get out of it without getting hurt.She took a quick shower and changed into some fancy clothes. She wore a sky blue blouse and some black slacks. She decided that today was her day to try to get a job. Even though Mason was already paying her, she knew that one million wouldn't be enough to sustain them for the rest of their lives. She still wanted to save some money to hopefully graduate her culinary school and save for Ace's needs for school as well.
