"Pull your skirt up and go. Stop frowning , child!" The woman pushed me out onto the stage.
My eyes wandered around the room. It was dark and only the candlelights and torches on the walls gave me enough of a chance to see the crowd. The room was filled with murmurs, faint but it was getting louder as I slipped the hood off my head. Gasps filled the room when they saw my appearance. I sighed. I know I'm not pretty like all the other blood slaves. I'm petite, pale and my hair is short. Having short hair in this world is an abomination to the eyes of both royals and commoners. They loathed those with hair as short as mine. "Let's start with a bag of gold? Now, who will bid for this lady?" The man yelled at the crowd as he walked towards me. I shrunk in my position, gripping the sides of my skirt while trying so hard to not let my tears betray me. And of course, humiliate me. Please don't cry! Not now, Sol. You can't cry now. "A bag of gold?" The man yelled again but the crowd remained silent. No one is obviously going to buy me. And that's okay. It's okay because, I mean, who would buy someone like me? Literally no one. "A trade!" A voice echoed through the whole room, followed by whispers that enveloped around me. I closed my eyes. I can't have a panic attack. I have to calm down. Calm down, Sol. Think of happy thoughts. Happy thoughts. "A trade? Well, we don't want to trade her with a cow, mister?" The man laughed beside me as he signaled someone from somewhere to switch the spotlight to the man who was asking for a trade. When the spotlight hit the man's position, the crowd was shook. Everyone fell into gasps, and loud whispers about this notorious man. "L-Lord Minir? That is... surprising—" the man beside me cleared his throat. I lifted my gaze up to the man who asked to trade me. Our eyes met for a short while before he brought them back to the host. "Dorian gold in exchange for her." A smirk was plastered in his face. My lips parted. I was out of words. No, I was shocked! And Dorian gold in exchange for me? I am not that expensive. Why? Why would he buy me that much? The host gulped, glanced at me before smiling at Lord Minir, "Deal. The Lady is sold to Lord Minir!" After I was sold to that mysterious man who bought me whose name is Lord Minir, I was brought to a better chamber. A chamber bigger, and had more things than mine. The women in the room rolled their eyes at me as they tried to fit me into an appealing dress. It had ruffled sleeves and a skirt. It was white and they made me wear a vest on top of it. I actually looked like a young woman who is privileged enough to go to a school right now. I giggled at the thought only to be snapped by a woman's glare at me. "You should be proud..." She gritted her teeth, "The infamous Lord Minir bought you. But I bet you won't last a month in his shelter and he'll end up killing you. He will coldly left you in your cell as you rot to your miserable death." I sighed and ignored the rest of what she was saying. During the years of living in this shelter, I have gotten used to these people's prejudice and envy. I am used to being their toy, their puppet all the time. That's why I'd prefer to stay silent at times like this than to utter another word. One more word and I'll end up in danger. I can't risk my life for petty drama. I had no one to protect myself but me. "Lord Minir bought this for you to wear." Another woman told me as she touched the cuff of my sleeves. I gave her a short smile. I was shocked when she gave me an embrace. But no matter how ugly these other people are in this shelter, there are still some who treat me as morally as they can. "Forgive us, Lord Minir. It took time to get her to change." I heard a woman's name outside the closed door that I was currently facing. "It did take time. Where is she?" I gulped. Just by hearing his voice sent shivers down my spine. I suddenly feel cold. I closed my eyes when I felt that the door was about to be opened. I only opened them when I realized that they were waiting for my presence. My eyes met the floor. I kept my gaze down as I entered the dark room. I have no courage to look at them. It would only make my heart race abnormally. And I can't afford making them know that I am scared right now. Bad things will come if they know that I am frightened. "Her name is Sol. She is a very shy, and obedient lady. Of all the ladies in here, you chose a good one, Lord Minir." The woman held my hand like she was so supportive of what's happening. I sighed. I hate to say this but I know that she's only after the Dorian gold. I wasn't even rented. I was bought and sold. For a blood slave to be sold to a vampire, it takes a lot of wealth. "Sol, greet Lord Minir—" "Leave." I gasped silently when I heard him commanded the woman. She gulped and turned her back on us, leaving me alone in front of this man. I let my eyes stay on my feet. I am void of any thought right now. I don't know what to really do. Should I greet and introduce myself? Or should I just stay silent? "How are you?" The man spoke. I gulped and pinched my own wrist. What should I answer? "I asked, how are you?" He repeated his question and closed the gap between us. Why is he so close? Can he just move away a little? I can't breathe all of his manly perfume in my nostril. When I didn't answer, he placed his index finger on my chin. His finger felt like ice. Gosh. Do vampires have to be this cold? He lifted my head, making me switch my eyes up to him. He tilted his head. I almost lost all of my senses when I saw his blue eyes piercing at me. He has a sharp jaw that complimented his long, straight and black hair. His skin was evidently pale like milk. But within those angelic features is the danger that can be felt through him. "I-I'm well, " I stared at him. His eyebrows furrowed, "Hm, are you sure?" "Y-Yes, I am." A smirk rose in his red lips, " It is odd to find a woman whose hair is as short as yours." I didn't say anything. "Have you packed your things already, hm? " I nodded. Well, the other women packed them for me. "Very well. Let's go," he grabbed his coat on the couch, took my wrist and dragged me out of the room. I almost whimpered when I felt the pain on my arm. But I remained silent about it. There's no sign of gentleness in him. He's aggressive. Just by grabbing my hand, itched my arm. "Ow," I grimaced when we stopped in front of the carriage. He must have noticed how I hissed at his hold that he let go of my hand. I thought he was going to apologize to me but he didn't. Instead, he opened the carriage's door and beckoned me to enter first. I entered the carriage and he followed from behind. I was out of words as I watched him sit in front of me. He unbuttoned his white polo like he just felt the scorching heat from outside. "Did it hurt?" he asked. I attentively looked at him. What hurt? "Your wrist. Did it hurt when I grabbed it?" I shook my head. I thought he was going to just agree with it but he ended up giving me a sarcastic smirk. "I know it hurts you, woman. And that is something that you should be reminded of me, " he looked outside the window, " I am not gentle." "I-It's fine, " I brought my eyes down to my lap. "It is not, " I heard him say, "But just like I have told you. I am no gentleman." "Oh, I understand ," I tried to give him a small smile. His eyebrows furrowed when I gave him a weak smile. It seems like he dismissed a thought and just gave me a smirk. "We're here, " he glanced at me. The carriage stopped and we both stepped out of it. In front of me was a lone mansion in the middle of nowhere. It was located on the top of a mountainous area. I gulped at the height. "It is your home now. And you shall obey to only one voice," his eyes darkened when he turned to face me, " Mine. Did I make myself clear?" I nodded. " I want an answer straight from your lips, woman." I gulped, " Y-Yes, Master." I saw a playful smirk when he heard what I just called him. I mean, that's what most blood slaves call their masters? "I like that. But I shall formally introduce myself to you, " his jaw hardened, " I am Minirvus Corvinus, a Lord of Moon West." I licked my lower lip, " It is a pleasure to serve you, My Lord." He clicked his tongue, " Don't call me by that name. I like it way better when you call me with the first one." " M-Master," I tried not to stutter so bad. He chuckled. My eyes widened when I heard him chuckle. "Your voice tastes so sweet, woman. "Hi, I hope you like it!
“You will have everything that you will be needing in this house . I already provided all the necessities that you will be needing in time. That includes food, clothes , your own chamber-“I gasped. With furrowed eyebrows, he flinched at me in confusion. “I have my own chamber?” I asked. “Yes, darling. You do,” he smirked at me. I nodded while holding myself back from crying out of happiness. And probably, trying not to scream this excitement. Imagine, I have no room all my life. I lived off in the basements or storage rooms or anywhere that can house me for a short period of time. And now, here I am, being told about all the benefits I will receive. “I will also give you a mentor who can teach you how to read, write and study,” I smiled when I heard those things. If there is something I really love to want in this lifetime, that will be education. I want to know a lot of things and be smart. Though I already know how to read and write unlike the other blood slaves. I do think t
After dinner, I was brought to a very dark chamber. All I can see is the faint moonlight peeking through the stained glass windows. There are paintings around us that can be seen in this dim light. With the white silk caressing my body, I felt how humid the air was. I feel strangely cold. Candles are lit around the bed where I am currently sitting on its edge. I was lost in words and sanity. There was nothing that I was waiting for than for his presence to enter this room. When the door opened, I lifted my eyes up to the man who entered. He walked with glory like he was king. The way his eyes glanced at the burning candles and then back to me made me feel like I was choked, suffocated with pleasure. I hugged myself, trying not to feel the sudden creeping of fear. He stopped by a desk and slipped his coat off his body. I looked away when I caught a glimpse of his bare skin through the unbuttoned shirt. The master smirked when he realized how conservative I was. "Wom
Sleeping has never been this peaceful for me until now. Last night, I slept. I didn't even realize I was asleep until the sun woke me up by the dazzling light that entered through the stained windows. Geber was the one who assisted me back to my bedroom, helped me bathe and dressed me up with fine clothes. "Thank you," I told her. She gave me the warmest smile that I have ever received. "Don't mention it. I just love welcoming new members to this depressing family." She laughed at her own words. To not make her feel that I wasn't enjoying her company or I felt shy, I smiled at her. After the bath and fitting into dresses, she did my hair and took me to the dining hall. Everyone was seated for breakfast. Gerber was beside me and the rest of the people were seated, chatting. "Good morning, Sol, " Atlas greeted me. I smiled at her, " Good morning." When the presence of my master enveloped the hall room, everyone choked on their own saliva and was silence
I stared at him. Is he trying to lie? His wife just came here. Is this how adulterous he is? I don’t have a grudge for people who have multiple lovers. It is so common in this place that I don’t find it a problem at all. But hearing him lie to my face is a different thing. It pained me a bit. “My Lord,” Gerber interrupted us. She glanced at the furry coat that I am carrying before turning to my master. And she continued, “Lady Catherine is here.”Lord Minir paused before pushing through us in a hurry. We followed behind him. And as we tried to catch his pace, Gerber took the coat from me and volunteered to hang it on a stand. We found her sitting on a couch, being served with tea and pastries. When she saw us entering the hall, she warmly smiled. “Lord Minir,” she called him. When the maids left the room, I left along with them. I was the last one to get out of the room. But before I could finally disappear to the walls, I glanced at them for the last time. Seeing Lord Minir kissed
I woke up to the sound of my door, creaking as if it was pushed and opened. The room was dark and only the dimmed candlelight stretched on the floor. I let out a small sigh and put myself back to sleep when the door closed, leaving me in this empty space. My back was facing the door so I had no idea who opened it. For a while, I felt fear but when it closed, I was calm again. Restlesness occupied me the whole hour. I couldn't sleep. Since I was awake the whole hour and doing nothing but trying to feel the quiet surrounding, I finally decided to get up and take a short walk. I pushed the door open and the dark hallway met me, approaching like it was chasing ghosts that sent chills down my spine. Sighing, I put on a long, silky white robe to at least warm me up a little before stroding the hallway with nothing but a candle lamp in my right hand. The darkness was like a predator, gawking at me in every step I make. The chills was still there but I no longer feel the creeps. I have n
I woke up to the sound of murmurs. As a light sleeper, a small noise can easily wake me up in the middle of the night. If it doesn't matter, I just go back to sleep. But this time, it's different. It was in the shadows. I can't point out what it was but I know for sure that it was my name it's calling. Pushing myself off the mattress, my eyes instantly looked for Lord Minir's presence. But upon finding him nowhere, I decided to lit up some candles. I must be dreaming. Why am I suddenly feeling cold? "Solcetur..." I flinched to the door when I saw it opened slightly. "Yes?" "Come..." "M-Master?" I stuttered to call him while approaching the door. But it can't be him. I paused on my tracks, summoning a memory of Gerber and Atlas talking to me. It must be one of them since it's a woman's voice? "Gerber,Atlas, is that you..." I opened the door and peeked on the dark hallway, only to find no one. No one's here? I must be hunted by ghosts, then. I
"Gerber!" Gerber halted upon hearing Atlas yell her name on the hallway. She turned to us, eyes bloodshot as if fire had caused them to fume into red. "Don't stop me, Atlas." "I have all the rights to stop you. I am the mayodorma of this mansion. All servants are under my supervision. If I say you stop, you will stop, Gerber Anderson..." "That bitch almost killed Lord Minir's blood slave, Atlas. What do you want me to do? Calm down?!" "It is impulsive to attack the Countess. You must stay sane to protect Sol. Do you think what you're about to do will help in this matter?!" Gerber looked away, tilting her head in defeat. "It won't! It will only going to make it worse." I pulled Atlas' arm to calm her down. She brushed my hand off her elbow and began walking away from the two of us. "I will take care of this matter. Take the blood slave back to her chamber, Gerber." As Atlas' footsteps disappeared in the hallways, Gerber grabbed me back
I had no other choice but to do as what she was telling me. She’s now the Mistress of the mansion since Lord Minir is not here so I must, therefore, follow her orders. She asked the other servants to get a bucket filled of water, a mop, a dustpan, some cloths and other cleanings tools I can use. I followed her to her chamber, walking behind her silently. “Do my clothes and jewels first. Then after that, you can now clean the floor…while we eat our lunch.” I thought she left when I began folding some of her clothes while hanging the laces on the wardrobe. A loud shuttering sound on the marble floor broke me out of my focus. I turned around only to find a broken vase on the floor. “I’m sorry. It was an accident…” I smiled, “It’s okay…I’ll just clean this up…” Lady Catherine smiled wider, “Then you might as well clean this up too.” I thought she was referring somewhere really dirty. She went up to her desk and began pouring beads on the floor. A gasp escaped from me as I watche
