~Ioana~

"Alessandro."

Was that how his wolf looked like? Just like his humanoid form, he towered over me, muscles well outlined. My head cocked to the side. I wanted to get close to see—his black fur looked so soft, the way the wind carried it.

I put one leg—no, one paw—before the other, silently chanting, step by step, right paw, left paw, cheering when I didn't stumble.

Golden eyes followed me, trailing after my form with such intensity it made me bothered—but not in a bad way. In fact, a tiny part of me craved it.

Not that I'll ever admit to it.

He put one forelimb before the other, muscles contracted then released. The forest itself seemed to hold its breath just like I did.

Then.

A glimpse of something mischievous flickered through his eyes.

Wait, mischievous? That couldn't be right… right?

Alessandro let out a low growl. I swore my fur stood erect, zaps of electricity running through me.

"Do you know the next thing parents do after their pup has morphed and adapted?" he threw th

~Ioana~A force rested on my chest, it pressed down, quick then released, it happened for the second… third time.On my chest—but something was odd, it covered more than my chest, even my—'Huu.' My eyes snapped open, I woke up with a jolt, my stomach twisted immediately. I turned to my side, letting out water from my lungs, it stung.Coughing.My chest rose and fell with each breath. Before I could understand what happened, arms scooped me up from the ground, into warm embrace. That's when I realized how chilly my skin was against the surface of his skin.I took in deep, greedy breaths. "There, there," someone patted my back. My lashes fluttered, vision blurred into focus, but it wasn't crystal clear. Even the moon looked like a big fuzzy luminous ball. Turning my head to the side—My breath came out as a slight wheeze, but I could make out a figure some distance away from me, and another. I traced the arms holding me upward.Thump.My heart skipped. I couldn't make out his facial fe

~Ioana~Sometimes I wondered why I was never a bird. During gloomy days like that, nursing my bruised body, I would crawl, little by little, pulling myself to the tiny hole I called window.Peering through it, I would watch as the birds spread their feathers, with a single flap, pushed off from the Gia, and into the sky.Fear? Spread your wings and fly far away.If I had wings? I would never be hurt, I would reason, dreaming of the impossible. And right now.As the wind whipped past my ears, my heart plunged to my stomach, pounding.Thud thud.Blurry images slept past me. It was dark, like a tunnel. I could barely make out things, and worst? I was slipping—falling to what perhaps could be my death. Once more, that childhood dream resurfaced. If only I had wings. But reality slapped me in the face.No wings sprang from my back. And I continued my descent.I had to do something about it.I stretched out my paws, reaching for the thick tendril hanging. The pad of my paw touched it, but t

~Alessandro~I knelt on the ground, ignoring the dampness that seeped through my breeches. My gaze was sharply trained on her, a mix of frustration and rage bubbled in my heart.Frustration because I couldn't notice such an obvious thing—she needed help. And rage because I wasn't the person she turned to when in need.Instead, she met him—a scrawny wolf, who didn’t match me in anything. Not in power. Not in rank.A single growl had him run away with his tail tucked between his legs, scared. Was this the person she wanted? Spending time with? Someone who couldn’t protect her?My jaw ticked. I had numerous ways to bend a wolf into submission—lessons learnt from childhood.Just applying one and I wouldn’t have to worry about her loyalty.I raised my hands, claws extended, and brought them down, gently removing the damp strand clinging to her fluttering lashes. But just one look at her and every thought burst into nothing. I couldn't bear to."Your little mouth is for decoration—can't spe

~Ioana~⚠️ Warning: This chapter contains scenes of intense physical pain and emotional distress."Huu..."Hot air escaped my parted lips. I panted, my chest rising and falling with each breath."Easy there..." he said, his back turned to me. But his voice stuck, and my breath slowed. It was the calm before the storm. Then—A loud crack echoed through the forest. A scream tore through my lips. My teeth dug into my lips, drawing beads of blood. I'd lost count of how many bones had shifted in place. Each time, the pain seemed to resound and stack, becoming more unbearable. Before I could think further, it came again."Hmm," I groaned.Suddenly, I didn't want to shift anymore if this was what I'd have to face. Unbearable pain coursed through my veins. It was more than I had ever experienced. Sweat broke out on my forehead, the metallic tang of rust coating my lips from how deep my teeth had cut in."Ramon..." I croaked out, my voice hoarse. For a second, I couldn't believe—was that my vo

~Ioana~ "It's filled with magnificent buildings, towering architecture, the floorings of buildings here and sculpture made of marble, housed by tall gates and covered by domes, lots of greenery— from the royal gardens which covers a wide expanse of land, to the nobles which honestly follow after the royals— peacocks, fountains, etc. The roads are made of cobblestones and are kept clean by sweepers who take shifts. I nodded to show I was following. What he described was what I was aware of, after all, that's what I saw every day. Seeing me nod, he followed it up. "After this, we have another layer." He cocked his head to the side. "Think of it like a…" he scratched the underside of his chin, "like a…" His eyes lit up, he snapped his fingers. "Like an onion!" "An onion, really?" I shot him the what-the—look. To which he shrugged. "A three-layered onion." "Can't you u
