I couldn’t sleep.

There was a photo on my phone. It was the only photo of its nature I had, and I kept it in my recycling bin. Time and time again, I would restore it and then delete it again, just so it wouldn't permanently get deleted. In that way, no one would see it in my gallery, and no one would ever find out.

Every night, whenever I was alone, I’d gotten the habit of looking at it.

It was a dark picture, and the two people in it were barely visible. One of them held the phone, capturing

The cafeteria erupted into chaos as soon as Jaice and AJ confirmed it. Students started pouring in, trying to get their hands on a photo.“Hey, give me one too, I need to look,” another voice joined them.“Me too, I need to take a picture. Saint Adam fucking a Beta in secret? This is scandal-worthy news!”“Give me one too, I wanna see.”“Give me!”They were all clamoring for the photos like vultures, laughing at them, taking pictures and uploading them into various social media with no shame whatsoever, or no care for how private they were.“Oh, my God,” I heard Quinn whimper. “Oh, these are horrible. Annalise, this is taking it too far! This is…this is an actual crime!”“I can’t believe I sat and ate lunch with a depraved stalker for nearly three years,” KC groaned. “I feel like I’m going to puke. Revon, man, get up. Let’s go. You don’t need to face this.”He came over to me and pulled me by my arms, making me stand up. I felt like I was floating above my own body. There was a ringin

Whispers and murmurs erupted from the cafeteria crowd, and more than a few phones came out to record the drama. Even the lunch monitor moved closer to the scene as if he was trying to get an earful. He made no move to come and break us up though, which was fantastic. For a moment, I didn’t know how to breathe. Those words…how did she know? We had been so careful. We never met anywhere she could be around, and whenever we were out in public, we were cautious. I’ve always kept a lookout on every one surrounding us, and I hadn’t seen Annalise, not even once. So, how? How could this be?Even though I was shivering internally, externally, I was utterly composed.I frowned. “What are you talking about now, Annalise?”“Oh, don’t pretend be oblivious, Revon, I know everything,” Annalise sneered. “I know what you’ve been doing behind my back.”“If you’re implying what I think you are, then you’re very, very off the base,” I lied. “I am in no way shape or form is a homewrecker. Nobody here is.”

Adam wasn’t taking my calls.I tried again and again, but every time it said that his phone was out of reach. And it started ever since I told him the bad news. In fact, right in the middle of it. I didn’t even notice that the call had been cut halfway through. I’d been ranting about…I didn’t even remember what exactly, for a good minute before realizing that there wasn’t a sound coming from the other side. The call had long since ended.I couldn’t believe it at first. Had he ended the call? No, that wasn’t possible. Maybe he ran out of credit.I tried calling him back, but there wasn’t a reply.I started to panic right there in the clinic, and my mind just jumped to the worst conclusions.Had he cut the call deliberately after hearing that I was pregnant? That’s what scumbag Alphas did, didn’t they? They got innocent Omegas in the family way and then dumped them, leaving them to take care of the baby on their own. Raising a baby wasn't as fun as fucking them, obviously, so why would

“What the actual hell?” I muttered, looking at my phone screen, which had gone dead. “I swear there was some battery life left in here.”“Everything okay, Young Master?” Leroy, the driver, asked as he approached me, holding a bag and a cup of coffee in his other hand. “You look a little bit stressed over there.”“My phone frickin died in the middle of a call,” I muttered, trying to turn it on. “But it had about forty percent battery left, I don’t understand this.”“The guy at the gas station said phones tend to act a little weird around these parts as we’re in the mountains,” Leroy said. “Even my own one doesn’t have any signals whatsoever.”I huffed, putting it back in my pocket. “I had signal though; I was in the middle of a phone call.”“Was it an important one?” Leroy inquired. “If you remember the contact number, I saw a payphone over there inside the gas station. Maybe you can use it?”“That’s a great idea! You got any change with you?”“Yeah,” Leroy plucked some quarters from h

“Revon?” The nurse calls out, coming out from the doctor’s office, holding a clipboard. “Revon Hawthorne?”I stood up, glad that there weren’t any other people in the reception area. The nurse was loud.“That’s me,” I said, ducking my head under the hoodie and walking towards her.The nurse smiled politely and practiced. “The doctor will meet you now.”I nodded and followed her into the doctor’s office. The Beta doctor in the office smiled at me as I entered, and it looked more genuine than the nurse’s, instantly making me feel at peace.“Mr. Hawthorne, hi! My name is Abby Sharpe, and I will be your doctor today. Please take a seat and tell me what brings you here.”She didn’t show any signs of recognition. I wasn’t famous or anything, but my surname was known in medical circles thanks to my father.“Um, hi, you can call me Revon,” I replied, taking a seat. “And well…”I took out the pregnancy test sticks from my pockets and placed them in front of her. Dr. Sharpe’s expression did not

It was four in the evening, and I’d gotten a text from Adam saying his family’s private jet had just landed at the airport closest to his grandmother’s estate. They were on their way to the estate, which was a three-hour drive away from the airport. He promised to update me when he got there. I read the text again. You should reply, my brain said. Don’t make him worry.Tell him the truth, my heart said. He needs to know.I listened to neither and put my phone face down on the ground, right next to the white stick I'd just ripped out from its packaging.I stared straight ahead. Maybe I was overreacting. I’ve always taken my birth control deliberately, never missed a day. So, there was no chance of this happening to me, right?I was just seeing things because I was paranoid. This secret relationship was getting into my head. But Eaton’s words kept ringing in my ears.“Handsome Alpha…no protection…you catch my drift?”My hands shivered as I took the little white stick.I would know for
