“Adam, what are you doing? Have you gone mad?!” My mother screeched. “Let go of her this instant!”

“I don’t think I will, Mom,” I spat through my teeth, tightening my grip around her neck. “She deserves everything that’s coming for her!”

Annalise’s eyes bugged out, and true terror settled on her features.

“Adam…please….” She wheezed, struggling even more, tears streaming from her eyes. “Please…let me go…I didn’t do anything wrong!”

Anger spiked, and I slammed her on the wall yet again. How dare

It was bizarre when I first heard it, but in a strange sort of way, rather fitting.Memory loss worked strangely. When I opened my eyes in a sterile hospital room six years ago, I didn’t know anything, but I knew some things.I knew how to talk in English, though I had something of a stutter, and my accent was distinctly American. I knew how to use cutlery to eat my food, although my hands shivered and tremored.I knew that I was human, I knew I was male, but my designation? I had no idea what that meant, or what it had to do with me. I didn’t feel anything was wrong with my body because everything was wrong: I’d been in a traumatic accident, and there was a thick bandage wrapped around my head.I hurt all over, and I was confused, aside from having a blank memory.I knew that wasn’t normal.Afterwards, when I could finally walk on my own, and the doctors said that I just might never recover my memory, they told me that I was a Beta, and I had no reason to distrust them. Betas were av

It seemed like my incessant rambling had done some good. Upon returning to me after the discussion with his father, Adam assured me that everything was alright between him and his father. They still had some issues to talk through, but Mr. Kennedy Senior would not be disowning his son anytime soon. And he wanted Adam to spend Christmas with him.I wasn’t a saint, so as soon as Adam said that I felt my stomach drop. I had been looking forward to spending the holiday with Adam. As long as I can remember, I have always spent Christmas in one army barracks or the other, mostly in deserts and on one monumental occasion, in the Siberian Tundra. I did not like to reminisce about that.Still, I conjured a bright smile onto my face and said, “That’s great, Adam. Finally! I’m the one who’s supposed to have daddy issues here, not you. Stop trying to steal my thing, dude.”Adam smiled a little at that and squeezed my arm.A pleasant curl of heat rushed through me at the contact. His palms were smo

I followed my father into a fairly empty lobby, my heart thumping in my chest, not ready for this confrontation at all.I knew it was coming, sooner or later. I knew I couldn’t keep running forever, but when it did, I expected to be more prepared. This was far too sudden. All I wanted was to help Colton, do him a favor. I hadn’t expected him to be a candidate for an experiment done by my family’s newest company.I should’ve known as soon as I learned it that trouble would follow. As soon as we were out of hearing range, I told my father, “I really didn’t put him up to that. I have no idea why he said all that, but he’s just…he just feels guilty about me not being home for Christmas and wants to help.”My father stopped and glanced at me over his shoulder.“I know.”“Oh,” I said, deflating. “Um…”“I’m your father, Adam, and regardless of our recent fight, I’ve raised you for twenty-five years. I know what kind of a man you are. Now, come along.”Flabbergasted at that declaration, I sile

Oh, shit! There weren’t many instances in my life (that I remembered) where I had been speechless. But seeing Ernest Kennedy come face-to-face with his recently estranged son rendered me silent in an instant. For one thing, Adam looked just like his father.Of course, he was taller and generally larger because apparently, Adam had gotten his grandfather’s genes, but they had the same hair, the same bright blue eyes, and the same bone structure that made so many on campus want to swoon.Including myself, if I were being honest. Anyone with eyes could see that the guy was drop-dead gorgeous.Adam’s mom’s genes hadn’t even tried to compete. Looking at Ernest, I could genuinely see an older, more distinguished version of Adam who had a good fashion sense, who held himself with an inherent ease that came with being richer than God, and a confidence that came with knowing just how powerful he was.All Alphas tried to emulate that confidence, but few wielded it effectively as Adam’s father di

“Colton.”“Yes?”I looked at the signage of the brand-new building located in Uptown Caveat City, gleaming under the winter sun.“Why didn’t you tell me that you were participating in a drug trial conducted by Kennedy Consolidated?”Slowly, Colton turned to look at me.He looked positively adorable in his bright green colored puffy jacket, thick black scarf, and black beanie with a little puff ball on top. Apparently, Colton was not built for the snow, which was a surprise, given how he originated from Minnesota, of all places. But then again, he said he was born in California and spent his first three years there before getting adopted, so maybe that had something to do with his abysmal cold tolerance.A lot of things happened in the past few months, but at the same time, nothing really happened at all.The semester came to a smooth end. The exams were a pain, and I’d forgotten how stressful they were. Colton, Vallory, Elara, and I formed a little study group to spend all night in the

“It was so dope!” Elara was telling Vallory, who stared at her, baffled. “Then Colton just whipped out these videos; one from the Club and the other from the motel, because of course those fuckers had videos in their motel rooms.”“Jesus Christ,” Vallory breathed.“It showed everything that happened. And the video from the club clearly showed that Kellin dropped something into Colton’s drink.”“And made me feel like a right idiot for not noticing that,” Colton grunted, glaring disdainfully at the soda he was nursing. “Turned me off from alcohol too for at last another month.”“And then Colton’s Colonel took the Dean aside and told him some really ominous stuff about the top brass getting involved if he didn’t ensure Colton’s safety in his campus, because apperently Colton’s that important.”“He has to be is he made Lieutenant by twenty-five,” Vallory muttered. “How did you even do it?”“I rescued a president.”“What?!” Both Elena and Vallory exclaimed, and I raised a brow at him.He s

She was a good-looking Alpha woman, with long black hair that was pinned into a no-nonsense bun, severe lilac earrings to go with her high-end pantsuit that cost probably more than all the money I’ve ever made as a soldier, and amber-brown eyes that were wide with…fear? In fact, as soon as she glanc

“Sorry about that, I did not see you coming. My fault entirely. Are you okay?”I blinked, trying to stop my head from ringing. Did I fricking run into a wall? But then I realized the wall could talk.I looked up.And bit back a groan.Of course, it had to be him.Tall, dark, and handsome, with a bo
