~ Dale ~

It had been a week since I sent Chloe the message, making it a week since she left me on read.

And damn, I'd never felt more frustrated than I'd been feeling each day.

I needed to explain everything to her. I needed to be certain she knew the airport loss wasn't what it meant.

Why I wanted to prove that to her so badly I was yet to know, but I needed to do so.

For my sanity.

This week of not seeing her was doing no good to my peace of mind.

None at all.

“Ensure the files are delivered to the company before the week ends.” I ordered Rita, who nodded, gathering the files from my desk.

“Okay sir.” She adjusted her glasses with her index finger. “You have a meeting with the Zomat Company in fifteen minutes sir.”

“Are they around?”

“Yes sir, the CEO is awaiting your presence in the meeting room.”

I just nodded. “You are dismissed.”

“Okay sir.” Then she turned, sauntering out of the office.

A knock came from the door soon after.

“Come in.”

The permission was enough

The moment I stepped in and saw Emery's frown, I knew whatever discussion we were going to have would likely be the most serious one we'd ever had.Which was why I didn't bother trying to lighten the mood with anything unnecessary.Instead, shut the door and headed to have a seat on the couch.“Dale.” That was the first thing she said. “What the fuck are you doing in his place? Of all places to be, you had to be in his place?” I wasn't even sure where to start. How to even begin explaining anything. Of course I couldn't say I was having sex with him or all that. But I didn't want to lie either, so I went with, “It's complicated.”“What on earth is complicated? You better explain something to me because at the moment I'm not in a good mood so please, don't further irritate me.” This was actually the first time I'd see her this mad.My brows furrowed slightly. “Alright then, I was at Dale's place because I wanted to be there. I don't see why it's any of your business enough to have you

I woke up the next morning with not a bit of regret on all that happened.Dale was still asleep when I woke up, giving me room to stare at the beauty he beheld. Something I'd always loved and was certain I still loved even till now.He was very handsome, undeniably. My eyes travelled his face, the perfection of his eyes, nose that was likely created for him and him alone.Lips that defined beauty, reminding me of how damn sweet it had tasted. In fact, I found myself wanting to taste it once again. And then I thought, what was the wrong in doing that? I mean, he was the same person digging himself into me all last night while I chanted his name like it was my favorite thing to say.A smile crept up my lips remembering the scene. It ‘had’ been my favorite thing last night.I couldn't imagine myself being anywhere else. Seriously.“You seem to admire me so much, don't you.” He spoke, eyes slowly opening.I didn't care that he caught me unashamedly staring at him.Instead, rose to my fee

Dale kissed back instantly, arm wrapping around me in a firm grip.I was grateful for that because at the moment, my legs wobbled slightly and his arm helped steady me in place. When his tongue parted my lips, slipping over, goosebumps jumped my entire body, desires coursing through me.The kiss deepened as he took to sucking the breath off me, my head tilting backward with as much pleasure shaking in me at that moment. Then he pulled back slightly, allowing us both to breath, though our faces stayed close to each other.“This isn't the right place to be.” He spoke in a low growl, like he felt exactly how I felt.“Let's go there then.” I whispered afterwards.“Are you sure?” He asked lowly, breath hitting me in a way that made him look so damn hot. “I'm asking because the moment this all starts, I don't think I will be able to bear it's end.”My hand moved to his cheek, wrapping into his hair so I pulled him for another kiss. “And what if I don't want it to end either?”Like that was

“Because I love you.” Dale's words were followed by silence. Full, complete silence. We both paused, staring straight at each other.People passed by, cars zoomed off, the doormen greeted customers getting in.But we both stayed unmoving, no words said, no sound made.It took a moment before I got myself a little, but the shock hit harder than ever.“Do you know what you're saying?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. He sighed, shoulders seeming a little tense. “I-I didn't mean to say it this way, but yes. I've loved you for a long time, although I've refused to admit it, not only to you, but to myself.”My heart skipped a beat by those words, breath hanging somewhere up in the air. This was all coming to me as a complete shock.“The day of the event, when I saw you after so long, something stirred up in me. Seeing you again,” he seemed to hesitate slightly, “it brought something in me. And-And I realized I might've missed you. More than I thought I did.”“I—” was at a loss of

~ Chloe ~When Emery came back, she briefly explained what she and Sam had agreed to, then left to her room, which meant I was the one to put Donald to bed that night.“Why is Mimi angry?” He asked, his voice tiny and sleepy once he laid on the bed.“She's not angry, hon.” I gently ran my hand through his hair. “She's just very tired.”He nodded, his small eyes drooping. “The man that came… Is he really my daddy?”The question surprised me. I hadn't expected Donald to understand anything that was going on. “Go to sleep hon.” That was all I could say as offering an answer just didn't feel right at the moment. His lips spread to a cute smile before closing his eyes and going to sleep. After a soft sigh, I headed to my room, took a shower then changed into my nightgown before heading to bed.~When I woke up the next morning, my initial plan was to not head to work.At the moment, Emery needed me, so she'd let out whatever was disturbing her.I reached for my phone, sending a message to

~ Emery ~I had barely gone out of my room ever since the day I'd almost left for Japan.Of course, that was a result of me not thinking straight, because the moment Chloe let me know Sam had found out about Donald, all forms of reasoning disappeared. All I just wanted to do was run. Escape to anywhere. As long as me and my son would never be found.A very dumb decision.Chloe would've been very furious and likely never forgiven me. So far, she was still annoyed at me.I hadn't seen her around much, but the few times we'd bumped into each other, she'd frown, ask if I was ready to tell her the truth, and leave when my reply was with nothing but silence.Today however, with me on my way to meet Sam, she came over to the room, Donald in hand.“Thanks for helping me watch him while I'm out.” I said, putting on the green slippers that likely didn't match with the purple gown I had on.In fact, my appearance was nothing to be proud of.But I didn't care.It wasn't like I was going there f
