Chapter 03

Aidan’s POV

I decided to tell my mom over dinner about the good news.

During Dinner~

‘I’ve got exciting news to tell you’ I said practically radiating with joy.  My mom stopped eating giving me her full attention. ‘Well don’t keep me in suspense’ my mom said.

‘I found my mate’.

‘You did?’

‘Yeah’ I responded.

‘Well it was about time she showed up. Well honey who is she? Why isn’t she here? When will she be coming? Oh thank you goddess, there’s so much to do we have to meet her and her family too, is she from the pack? No that’s very unlikely you’ve met with everyone. Then she has to be from another pack, maybe a visiting one? We’ll have to request everyone together to introduce the new addition to the pack. We’re going to have to make plans for the wedding and—Mom!’ I called snapping her out of her trance.

‘There’s a problem isn’t there? *Gasp* she didn’t reject you did she?’ my mom’s faced etched with worry. ‘No she didn’t she doesn’t even know I’m her mate’ I said.

‘Don’t tell me’.

‘Yes mom she is a human’.

‘Oh baby, that’s not going to be easy to bring her to this side’.

‘I just have to charm her, I’ll make her mine before I tell her about my secret’ I said determined.

‘Yes that’s a good idea, you do that’ my mom agreed with me.

‘I just hope she comes soon’

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The next day at work, I arrived at work the same time as Steven.

‘Wow you’re here early’ Steven said with that smirk I hate so much.

‘Aren’t I always?’ I said walking in.

He snorted.

On entering the building my eyes landed on Rosé immediately. She was smiling and laughing, her smile must be the most beautiful smile in the whole world. I was so enchanted by her that I didn’t noticed her company. Looking to whom she was speaking with, I saw a girl and the guy from yesterday. He whispered something in her ear that made her giggle.

I could feel my wolf he was as angry as me at that moment. Steven sensed what was going on but before he could drag me away I was already at her desk.

They stopped talking and turned to look at me. ‘Good morning sir’ the guy and girl talking to Rosé spoke at the same time. Rosé looked at them confused she probably didn’t know who I was. Anyway I didn’t return their greeting. I looked at the man that’s getting on my nerves.

‘I would prefer if you’ll keep your gossiping till your lunch break or after work hours. I don’t pay you to slack off’. I said in an intimidating tone.

‘Yes sir’ they both said scared. It worked.

‘Go back to your work stations’ I ordered.

‘Yes sir’ they said and scrambled away.

Now it was just me and her.

‘Um, excuse me, I don’t want to offend you or anything but may I ask what position you hold in this organization?’

I could sense the nervousness in her voice; did I come off as too intimidating? I can’t have her scared of me.

I cleared my throat. ‘I am the chief executive officer of this organization’. I could see when the realization hit her face.

‘I am so sorry sir’ she said.

‘It’s alright I know you just started working here so you probably have almost no knowledge of your superiors’. I said making my voice as soft as I can so she’ll be less intimidated.

‘I’ll make to tell Wayne to do a proper orientation of everything you need to know’.

‘Thank you sir’

‘You could thank me by having lunch with me’ I said awaiting her response.

Rosé’s POV

Did I hear him correctly, why would he want to have lunch with me?

‘I don’t mean to be rude but why lunch? If you don’t mind me asking’

He looked taken aback.

‘Well I do like to get to know my staff. If it’s not too much to ask’ he said. Normally I reject such invitations but I felt a bit happy when he asked. Wait happy? Why on earth will I be happy?

‘I would say yes but I’m already having lunch with some of my colleagues’ and by colleagues I meant josh and Wendy, Josh introduced me to Wendy when he came by my desk this morning. Apparently they work together. She’s really nice and I think we’ll hit it off. She even invited me to have lunch with them.

‘Alright then’

‘Aidan’ someone said walking up to us, ‘we’ve got a lot of work to do come on’ he said leading Aidan to an elevator.

‘Bye for now’ he said then left.

I felt a little bit down I wonder why? Anyways after working for hours lunch time came. Lacy came up to my desk, ‘Hey’ she said.

‘Hi’ I replied back. ‘Go ahead and take your break’ she said.

‘Thanks’, ‘Wait, which way is to the cafeteria? I asked glad I remembered this time.

‘First floor, it’s basically the first room you’ll notice’.

‘Okay thanks’.

Now I understand what she meant, when I got there it was the room facing me, the doors were open I could see other workers eating, and chatting. I walked in, grabbing a tray joining the line of people. After I got my food, the challenge of where to sit came in. I was looking for Josh and Wendy when I heard my name being called. It was Wendy.

‘Hey guys’ I said sitting down. ‘Hi’, ‘Sup’. They greeted me back.

‘So what did he say?’ Wendy asked

‘Who’ I asked

‘Mr. Aidan of course, I saw him talking to you after we left, you’re not in any trouble are you? She asked worriedly.

‘No we only talked a little’ I said taking a bite of my food.

‘Talked? Talked how?’ Josh asked this time.

‘Well, I was still a little confused by who he was so I asked him and he introduced himself, said something about the manager giving me a proper orientation and oh then he invited me to lunch’ I said continuing eating while they both stared at me.

‘What?’

‘You serious he invited you to have lunch with him?’ Josh asked

‘Yup’

‘Then what are you doing here’ Wendy asked me

‘Well I couldn’t go’

‘Why on earth couldn’t you?’

‘What do you mean why? I already planned to eat with you guys I couldn’t just ditch you’

‘I would’ Wendy said.

‘Ouch’ Josh said clutching his chest.

‘Rosé, the Aidan Walker invited you to have lunch with him, do you know how many girls would kill to be in your shoes right now?’ ‘Come-on it was just lunch, it’s no big deal’.

‘Well, well, well what do we have here?’ a voice called out behind me when I turned around I couldn’t believe my eyes. Regina? What was she doing here?

I turned my face towards my food, praying she didn’t recognize me.

‘I’ll be damned, if it isn’t sweet Rosé’. Curses, I thought.

‘Who would have thought we end up in the same workplace?’ she had a creepy smile on her like a venomous snake.

I just ignored her trying to eat my lunch

‘What? You’re not going to say anything to your bestie?’

‘You’re best friends?’ Josh asked surprised

‘Oh yeah we go way back during junior year in college don’t we?’ she turned to me.

‘But during senior year we broke apart’ she said with a sad face. She was really a good actress.

‘Why? What separated you guys’ Wendy asked.

‘We’ll let’s just say it involved a guy, not much to get into’ she said dismissively. Well obviously she couldn’t openly admit to being a lying whore.

‘But since we’ve met like this it must be fate, let’s be friends again. I’ve missed you’.

‘You’ve got some nerve’ I said getting annoyed. I didn’t realize how loud I was, the whole cafeteria went quiet all eyes on our table.

‘Excuse me’ I got up and left, Josh and Wendy were calling after me but I didn’t care I just wanted to be alone at that moment. Of all the workplaces she just happened to work here, what was her problem anyway, friends? Ha! Even if they paid me I wouldn’t still be friends with her. I was too trusting back in college and she was always nice to me but it was all an act. My eyes watered a little, her sleeping with my boyfriend was not what angered me the most. Her betrayal, that’s what hurt me the most.

‘Ow’ I said as my butt hit the floor I hit something hard. Looking up my eyes met with the familiar bluish green color.

I got up quickly, muttered a sorry and try to move pass him but he held my arm.

‘Are you ok?’ he asked worriedly.

‘I am fine’. My voice cracked a little. Shit.

He placed his thumb under my chin. I felt that strange electric feeling again I wanted to shy away from it but it felt kind of comforting.

He saw my teary eyes and I swore I saw his eyes turn a darker shade, he looked pissed off but why would he be pissed off? Was it me? Was it because I bumped into him again?

‘Who made you cry?’ he asked no more like demanded.

‘It’s nothing’ I said trying to wipe the tears away. He held my hand stopping me.

‘Tell me’ he demanded again. ‘It’s nothing’ I repeated ‘I’m fine’. I walked away he didn’t stop me this time. I looked back at him he was already looking at me I turned back around and walked away.
