Breaking The Rules

The beautiful rays of sun entered through the glass window and straight fell on those closed eyes which made them open and those bright blue eyes gleamed up more when the sun rays hit them.

Her rosy pale cheeks started glowing like the shine of white pearls. She slowly yawned and tossed her head and buried her face into her teddy bear.

"Wake up, Seph. "

Hearing that voice, she again shifted and answered, still feeling sleepy, “Please two minutes more, Nate. I am very sleepy, "

Nathan smiled at her answer and then delicately tapped on her head, making her squeal more and buried her face more into her teddy.

She knew she was almost about to turn nineteen, but she still slept with her teddy bear. The world might call her weird for it, but she just loved her teddy bear. At least, it listened to her and never thought about hurting her, like some living humans.

"If you are sleepy then I guess we could say no to your chocolate pastries for our breakfast, Ms. Miller," he uttered to her.

Chocolate pastries?

She shot open her eyes and immediately got up and sat on the bed.

"I will sleep after eating them, because chocolate pastries are no joke, Mr. Miller,”

She announced her tummy's desire which made her brother raise his eyebrow at her.

"And here I thought someone was really very sleepy? " He asked to which she shook her head.

"No, I was. But food is priority, you know, "

Both the siblings chuckled, hearing her and then pecked the crown of her head.

"Ok then, get up and a very beautiful morning to my beautiful angel, "

She warmly smiled at her brother's words, and hugged him.

"Good morning to you too, my angel, " She wished him back and his smile widened hearing her because they both used to call each other with that same nickname.

She had learnt it from him. Besides, he was the angel of her life. Her brother was her life's biggest blessing.

"Ok now go and freshen up. Your chocolate pastries are waiting for you at the breakfast table, "

She hurriedly nodded at his words in excitement, and then stormed towards her bathroom.

He smiled at her happiness, and then his phone started beeping which gained his attention.

A sigh escaped from his mouth by watching the email of his job termination from his workplace but it didn't surprise him because his work head had already informed about it last evening, and Nathan had nothing to say in it because he knew Seraphina had broken Grayson Corporation's rules and the only penalty he had to pay was with his job because Grayson Corporation was one of the top leading companies of their country and its rules and regulations were terribly strict and rigid.

Nathan sighed and shoved his phone back in his pocket because he didn't want Seraphina to know about any of this because he knew, she would blame herself for him losing his job and this would affect on her, both physically and mentally which he didn't want, so he decided to hide it from her and started planning on getting new job as soon as possible .

"Nate, it's so tasty. " Seraphina spoke, enjoying her pastries .

He beamed and gave her another piece of pastry and a glass of milk. Her doctor had suggested she should drink milk as she was physically quite weak.

"Ok finish your breakfast, then we will go out for a shopping and then a tasty lunch at your favourite restaurant,"

Her eyes widened hearing him

"Really? "

He chuckled and nodded.

"Really. Now finish your food, "

She nodded and hurriedly started finishing her food.

"Carefully, Seph. "

She tittered and continued eating her food.

After getting done with her breakfast, she went to her room to change her clothes .

"Ready, " She came out of her room , wearing a plain black skirt which was covering her thighs and a pale white off-shoulder top , along with a matching pair of white color shoes.

Her hairs were open whereas her face wore nothing except that baby pink lip tint on her plumy petals.

“How am I looking?”

"Less pretty than me, " Nathan uttered, troubling her. She faked a scowl, but then smiled.

Seraphina walked towards him.

"Ok now let's go,” he said.

Seraphina nodded at him, until that question came into her mind.

"Nate, "

"Hmm, " He hummed, locking the main door of their apartment.

"Have you taken a day off from work today? "

His hands halted at her question but he didn't let her catch the tension emerging into his eyes because he looked at her and smiled.

"Yes, I have taken my day off, so that I can take my Seph out today to enjoy a sibling day, " He lied, which was the truth according to her, because she trusted him more than her own shadow.

"Ok now let's go, " He held her palm securely in his, and they both left from that place.

After a couple of hours, they both were heading to the restaurant for their lunch when Nathan's phone started ringing. He looked at it and his brows wiggled in confusion by watching his work's head manager calling him .

He glanced at Seraphina, who was eating her candyfloss and was busy admiring the outside view through their car's passenger seat's window.

He connected his earpiece with his phone and picked up the call.

"Hello, "

"Mr Miller? " The person on the other side of the call replied.

"Yes, Mr Smith. "

"Your job termination has been stopped. You have to urgently come to the Grayson Corporation right now , "

Nathan got confused by hearing him.

"But why and… "

"Mr Grayson has stopped your termination and he wants to meet you, "

Nathan was stunned at the answer because in all these 5 years of working, he had hardly met with his boss and the CEO, Arzal Grayson a couple of times and just had heard about him and his cold and strict personality.

"But Mr Smith, I am with my sister now and we are almost an hour away from my house and I can't take her to the company with me ,as it's against the company's regulations, " Nathan answered, while focusing on the road and driving his car.

Nathan heard the other side went silent for a minute after hearing his reply and then.

"You can take your sister with you, Mr Miller , "

Shock was an understatement, Nathan was bewildered hearing Mr Smith's words.

"But Mr Smith, it's… . "

"Mr Grayson himself has permitted about this, "

Now it was the time for Nathan to become silent for a while.

"Come faster as possible, Mr Miller because this opportunity is in your and your work's favour. Mr Grayson is waiting for you, "

With that, the phone call got hung.

Nathan sighed and then looked at Seraphina. He knew he needed this job, not for him but for his sister and her better livelihood because not only that job's remuneration and salary were more than high but it would be difficult for him to get another job like that ,easily and faster.

So keeping in mind all of that, he decided to do what was right and rational.

"Seraphina, "

Seraphina, who was busy admiring the beautiful blue sky until now,turned her head towards her brother.

"Sephi, I have to go to work right now . My head manager has called me just now and informed me that my head boss wants to meet me, so angel I have to go there as soon as possible , so will you go with me there? "

Her azure eyes lost their shine after hearing him. Her smile dropped because her mind immediately started recalling what had happened with her at that place and how those people had behaved with her.

She still wondered how her brother managed to work in a place like that. They all seemed really very cruel.

And the sadness and fear in her eyes didn't go unnoticed by Nathan.

"Sephi, if you don't want to go there, it's completely fine, my angel. No need to get worried. I will first drop you at home and then … "

"No, Nate. It's okay. I'll come with you, " She halted him because Seraphina knew the relevance of his job for him and for their lives.

Her mind might be naive but she wasn't that dumb that she wouldn't try to understand her brother and his problem because he was above everyone and everything for her, and beside this time, her brother was going to be with her and she knew in his presence, she was going to be completely safe and alright.

She beamed and spoke.

"Let's go. Otherwise your head boss will scold you, Nate and I will have to punish him for scolding you, " She spoke innocently, making him chuckle .

Nathan nodded at her and then drove towards his destiny but he didn't know that ,it was not his destiny but that destination was waiting for his little sister .
