Author's Pov
Lily stared at the sharp eyed man with her flustered gaze as she shifted trying to distance themselves even more, she had never been proposed or pursued like this, the way he said those words and the desperation in his eyes for her to stay for him was so intense that she couldn't even gather her strength to speak.
Lily was draped in an ankle length light pink dress, her hair was tied in a messy bun and her feet were covered with matching slippers which she liked wearing inside the house. She never imaged Cyril to appear before her in this hour and could never even think of having an interest in her.
Lily after her first experience with her ex-boyfriend never tried to gamble on wanting to have a relationship again. After her break up with her ex, she decided to let go of this love shackles and simply focus on her career, Lily trusted her parents to make a better decision for her, she knew one day when she will be ready to settle down they will find a match for her and she definitely wouldn't mind knowing that person only.
But now watching the expected hazel eyes of the man stood before she tightened her grip on the counter until her hands turned white as sheet, she was nervous, flustered and confused. She didn't know what to say or do? She was interested in him, she did find him attractive and who wouldn't? But her trying to gamble her heart to him once again will it be worthy?
"I am serious, Ana," He mumbled blinking once only before gazing sincerely in her eyes.
"I am serious about you, and I definitely want to try to get to know you, you don't have to worry, we don't need to be girlfriend and boyfriend or be any relationship yet. We can take time and get to know each other well, and trust me even though I am more than willing to be with you already, I give you the whole right to propose the initiative of our relationship." Cyril announced throwing her in a pool of unknown dilemma.
She gulped dropping her eyes down, Cyril stepped back and smiled at her, "I am taking my leave now, I wouldn't disturb you until you will give me your answer, you can take as much time as you want." Lily silently watched as he picked up his coat and glancing in her mute eyes for a second he stepped out of the apartment.
The moment the door closed, she palmed her forehead slipping on the seat looking dejected and tensed, "Why didn't I just say no? Like I always did." She whispered to herself biting her lower lip.
Lily was an attractive woman indeed, her slightly chubby body, her curvaceous figure, bright blue eyes and slightly tanned body attacted a lot of men before as well, she was pursued and courted a few times before as well but never had she tried to get into another relationship but this one time she didn't find a strong urge of refusal in her like before.
She found him attractive, from the very first time she did find him charming enough to get her like his appearance but personally she didn't know him that good. Lily let out a small sigh before turned her head and stared at the empty shopping bags in which he brought food laying on the shelf. The flashes of the time they spent together appeared before her, she wouldn't lie, she liked his company, she liked sharing her dinner time with him.
That night Lily couldn't find herself to sleep properly, all night those desperate hazel eyes staring at her appeared before her time to time even when she hardly fell asleep, she had a dream. A weird dream where she was nestled in his arms and those thin lips of that one man curving into that dazzling smile before he kissed her.
Lily woke up with a headache and after drinking her coffee, she tried painting finding anything interesting to paint away but nothing. She went out to find something to eat, she didn't have the large appetite like always so she wanted something light for breakfast today. She was sipping the second cup of coffee while eating a chocolate pastry when she felt a shadow over her.
She looked up and a pang of regret swept over, why did she have to come here? "Lily, милая девочка, how are you?" Lada Sechin took a seat in front of Lily who gave her a hesitant smile.
"I am good. How about you?" Lada chuckled loving the way Lily talked, she started talking with her broken English giving Lily a few minutes to not think of the man who had jumbled up her entire mind.
"Lily, do you have a boyfriend?" Lily froze for a second, she did expect Lada to try and insert her son in their conversation but not this soon. She looked up at the curious woman, Charlotte must have told her already that Lily didn't have any boyfriend but to come out polite she was acting.
"I actually don't have a boyfriend but," Lada almost burst into giggles of happiness but paused when Lily added the 'but' in her sentence making her raise eyebrows.
"But?" Lily bit her inner cheek letting the words she had finally decided on to spill out.
"But I have someone I like, we are seeing each other right now, like getting to know." Lada's smile dimmed and she nodded with a gloomy face.
"I see, actually Charlotte told me you're single so I wanted to introduce you to my son, he's a successful great guy, but I can understand the matters of heart can't be forced." Lada said looking at Lily with such an intense gaze which made the young woman tensed a bit as she nodded with a small smile.
"Yes, you're right, I am sure you're son will find a far better woman than me." Lada nodded with hint of reluctance before finally she decided to take her leave and Lily let out a sigh of relief.
Lada was a nice woman at least that was what she appeared before her till now but there was something about her Lily didn't find nice. She had a weird look in her eyes whenever she talked with Lily which was the major reason she didn't want to be associated with either Lada or her son.
Lily bit her lower lip and then grabbed her phone, she stared at the message she got last night, just like her apartment that man even found her number. He messaged her last night to save his number and remember to think over the proposal he gave her. He might appear calm and resolute about this matter but he still was kind of desperate especially at how he said he was giving her all the time in the world but still didn't let the chance to remind her about his proposal go.
She stared at his name and swiped the call button placing it over her ear, after a few bells he picked up her call, "Ana," His thick steady voice entered her ears and she felt a tug at her heart making her finally be more determined at her decision.
"I agree, I agree with what you said last night, let's get to know each other." Lily mumbled in one breath making the man on the other hand be silent for a few seconds before she heard a small sigh like he was relieved.
"Thank you, дорогой, oops, sorry no Russian when we are having a conversation." (Sweetheart) He corrected himself making Lily let out a small laugh, even she felt a weight lowering down from her heart.
"Let's go on a date tonight, I will pick you up." Cyril offered and Lily had no reason to deny especially when she also wanted to try this new relationship with him.
After hanging up, Cyril placed the phone on the table and leaned his head against the chair gazing at the luxurious ceiling of his office. His blank eyes gazed at the glass ceiling reflecting his emotionless image until his lips curved into a twisted smirk followed by a small chuckle. He stared at his evil face through the mirrored ceiling shaking his head.
"Это было чертовски легко, но это хорошо, я так близок к тому, чтобы получить то, что хочу."
(Translation: It was too damn easy, but it's good, I am so close to getting what I want.")
