Paparazzi were going crazy at the Vanguard City airport. They had been tipped off that a powerful woman had just landed. When she walked through the gates, everyone stopped to stare.

She was beautiful and exuded pure power. Her eyes were striking, and she was dressed in designer clothes from head to toe. Every brand she wore was rare and hard to find.

Beside her was a handsome man. He carried a young boy in his arms. The woman held a beautiful little girl who looked just like her.

"Mummy," the girl called out, "is this where we'll be living?"

"Yes, Lyra," she replied, her voice smooth and confident.

"Let's get ready to conquer this city, babies," she said to her children.

Her whole life had done a 360. She was no longer Elara Smith, but Elara Vance.

She had finally returned to the city with her twins, Leo and Lyra. By her side was her brother, Alistair Vance who had found her six years ago, right after Alexander Sterling had completely shattered her heart.

She still hadn't forgotten the pain Alexander and Vivienne had caused her. She was here for revenge. They had to pay for treating her like trash.

After leaving the city, Elara put her law degree to use. She had graduated at the top of her class, even after taking on so much debt to get through school. She had worked hard to pay every cent back. Now, she finally practiced business law.

She wasn't just a lawyer anymore; she was the most sought-after name in the industry. Everyone wanted her to work with them. She held the power now, and she was ready to use it to bring her enemies to their knees.

"Mummy, since we're in a new city, will you finally give us a daddy?" Leo asked.

Elara’s throat went dry. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out. The question caught her completely off guard.

"You don't like Uncle anymore?" Alistair asked Leo, trying to tease him and lighten the mood.

"No, I love you, Uncle," Leo said seriously. "But my classmates are always teasing me about not having a dad."

Elara’s heart sank. She looked at her daughter, knowing she would get the truth from her. "Really?" she asked Lyra.

Lyra nodded sadly. "Yes. They say that we're orphans, and it hurts, Mummy."

This was the first time Elara was hearing this. She felt beyond devastated. She had worked so hard to give them everything, but she couldn't give them the one thing they were missing.

She forced a smile onto her face and hugged them close. "Don't worry, kids," she said. "I'm going to find you a daddy very soon."

Elara had completely given up on love after what Alexander did to her. But for her children, she was willing to try again.

Elara’s life had been a hard climb. She was stolen from the hospital the day she was born. She spent her childhood moving from one home to another, but no one ever adopted her. At eighteen, she was finally on her own. She worked multiple jobs and took out massive loans to put herself through school. She had fought for every single thing she had.

Alistair had a very different life. He was five years older than Elara, and his upbringing was heavy with the shadow of his missing sister.

Their parents had searched for her tirelessly. Because they missed her so much, they treated Alistair like two people. They raised him to be the child they lost and himself at the same time.

Alistair never stopped looking for her either. Six years ago, his hard work finally paid off. He found Elara right when she was at her lowest point. He reunited her with their mother and spent the next six years taking perfect care of her.

Alistair hadn't even gotten married. He chose to stay single so he could focus solely on his sister and her children. He wanted to make up for all the years she had lost being alone. He was her protector now, and he wouldn't let anyone hurt her again.

Alexander Sterling’s private jet had just landed. He stepped onto the tarmac and adjusted his tie, checking the time on his expensive watch. He slid into the backseat of his car.

"Ronald, what time is my meeting?" he asked.

"10:00 AM, sir," Ronald replied.

Alex felt his phone vibrate in his hand. He looked down and saw Vivienne’s name on the screen. He didn't want to talk to her. He silenced the call, put his earphones in, and started his music.

As the car began to pull away, his eyes caught a beautiful family standing near the terminal. The woman had the same build as Elara. She was standing next to a handsome man who was holding one of their children.

Alex felt a sharp pain in his chest. 'If she hadn't left me, how many children would we have by now?' he wondered.

He quickly looked away, then turned up the volume of his music to drown his thoughts.

Alex's car pulled up to the Sterling-Apex building. He had built this company from nothing. In the beginning, he had the ideas, but he needed investors. Those investors used to treat him like an errand boy, but he had spent the last six years fighting back. He had finally bought most of them out. Now, he held the controlling share.

This was exactly what he had always planned. But as he looked at the grand lobby, he felt a pang of sadness. Elara wasn't by his side to enjoy any of it.

He took the elevator to the executive floor.

"Everyone is already seated, sir," Ronald said, opening the heavy doors to the conference room.

Alexander's presence filled the room as he walked in.

"Good morning, Mr. Sterling," one of the board members said, standing up to shake his hand. "I’d like to introduce you to our new legal director."

The man gestured toward the head of the table.

"This is Mrs. Elara Vance."

"Mr. Sterling," she said, her voice sharp enough to cut. "Your questions are inappropriate and honestly irritating. You are pushing it right now."Her blood was boiling. Alexander stayed silent, completely taken aback. In all the years he had known her, he had never seen her this upset. He opened his mouth to defend himself, but she cut him off before he could make a sound."I have people waiting for me at home. If you'll excuse me."She turned and began to walk away. Alex felt a sharp pain in his chest, almost as if he were clawing at it. 'People waiting at home? Did she mean a husband? Had she really moved on that much?' To him, it felt impossible. He couldn't accept that he had been replaced so easily."At least let me drive you home," he suggested desperately.Elara didn't stop. She looked him up and down with a look of pure disgust and kept walking toward the exit.Alex shot up from his seat and started following her. He didn't care about the people watching or how he looked. So

Leo stayed quiet for a moment. He pouted, then finally spoke. "My name is Leo and my sister's name is Lyra. And my mummy..." He stopped for a second. "Can you help me find her? It is her first day at her new job. I want to wish her good luck."Alex felt his heart melt. What a sweet boy, he thought. He knelt down to be at Leo's height."Okay, Leo. Let’s go to the security room," Alex said. "My company has many cameras. We can find your mummy on one of the screens."Alex reached out his arms, and Leo climbed right in. As Alex held the boy, he felt a strange connection to him. He wondered if seeing Elara again was making him feel this way.The truth was, Alex had stayed single all these years. He always hoped he would find Elara again. Now he had found her, but she had run away before he could explain anything. The elevator doors opened, and Elara stepped out with Sashi. Her heart stopped when she saw the scene in front of her.Her son, Leo, was being held by the man who had broken her h

"I'm so sorry, Ethan," Elara said, her face flushing with embarrassment as she grabbed her clutc"It’s no problem, Lara," Ethan replied with a calm, easy smile. "I always knew you were a workaholic. We’ll reschedule.""Thank you for being so understanding," she said, feeling a wave of relief. Ethan gestured to the menu. "At least let me get you some take-out to go. You shouldn't work on an empty stomach.""Okay, thank you," she agreed. She waited for him to stand up and walk her to the door, but he stayed rooted in his seat. He gave her a polite wave but didn't move an inch toward the exit.'Is he avoiding Alex? But why?' The thought flickered in her mind, but her entire train of thought was derailed the moment she stepped onto the sidewalk.Alexander was there, leaning against his black Mercedes Maybach. The streetlights caught the sharp lines of his suit and the dark intensity in his eyes. Her heart got caught in her throat. He looked like a dream—a perfect, handsome dream—and it w

Alexander stopped mid-punch, his glove hanging heavy in the air. He was at the gym with his best friend Eren Lakeland and childhood buddy, Ryan Montrose, trying to blow off some steam.Boxing was his only escape. After Elara had practically called him a sex offender earlier, he felt sick and upset. He couldn't believe she thought so poorly of him after everything. He wiped sweat from his forehead and picked up his phone. He saw a text notification from Vivienne. He had been so caught up in his feelings for Elara that he had completely forgotten Vivienne even existed. He was about to toss the phone back into his bag, but a picture on the screen caught his eye and made his blood run cold.It was Elara. She was standing in front of a high-end restaurant, and a tall, handsome man was leaning down to kiss her forehead.A second later, another message from Vivienne popped up: [The woman you're head over heels for doesn't have the decency of being faithful to her husband. Is this what you wa

Elara's phone rang from the night stand making her groan. 'Allistar must have plugged it,' she said cleaning her eyes as the bright morning light stung her vision. She reached out with a shaky hand and grabbed the device from the nightstand. When she saw the name Ethan flashing on the caller ID, a genuine smile appeared on her face. She slid the bar to answer, but she didn't speak right away. She just held the phone to her ear, letting the quiet hum of the connection settle her nerves. "Hello, Elara?" Ethan’s voice was always so warm and gentle. She let out a soft, intentional breath into the receiver so he would know she was on the line. "Good morning, Lara," he said, and she could almost hear the smile in his voice. "I just wanted to inform you that I've landed in Vanguard City and I’m properly settled in. I actually called you several times last night, but you weren't reachable. I was getting a bit worried about you." "But wait—" Elara started to say, wanting to expla

Elara pulled up to her estate gate, already exhausted from the emotional whiplash of the day. But the security guard stepped out of the booth, looking overwhelmed. "Ma'am, we have a... situation. These were delivered for you an hour ago."Behind the gate sat ten massive bouquets, each packed so tightly with tulips that they looked like solid walls of color. Ten bouquets, a thousand tulips each. Ten thousand flowers sat there, glowing under the streetlights. Elara reached out and pulled the small, cream-colored card from the nearest one."I'll love you a thousand times over. ~Love, Alex."Elara started coughing uncontrollably, the sheer audacity of the gesture hitting her like a physical blow. She clutched the card, her eyes watering. 'Ten thousand tulips? So now remembers?'"Ma'am? Where do you want them?" the guard asked, scratching his head.Elara tucked the card back into the petals and straightened her back, her face hardening into a mask of indifference. "Toss them," she said col
