Chapter 2

Author: Grogan
Tammy’s words hit me like a dagger straight to the heart.

I jerked my head up, staring hard at Toby, desperate to find an answer in his eyes and his expression.

However, he looked away, guilty and ashamed. He would not even meet my gaze.

That told me everything I needed to know.

My vision blurred with tears, but I forced myself not to cry. Still, I could not hold back the heartbreak as I demanded, “You bonded with her. What about me? What am I supposed to do? I’m carrying your pup. Are you really going to abandon your own child to raise someone else’s, one who doesn’t even know who their father is?”

I had not even finished before Tammy snapped, screaming at me,

“Don’t you dare insult my child! He’s not an illegitimate child! He has a father!”

She burst into tears, wiping at her face, playing the helpless victim.

Toby immediately panicked and shoved me away, his eyes turning cold.

“Stacy! Have you no manners? No decency? Do you even realize how much damage your words could cause?

“You could destroy Tammy emotionally!”

Staggering back from his shove, I just stood there in stunned silence.

Was what I said not the truth?

I looked at them and all I felt was despair.

“My mate bonded with someone else and wants to be the father of her pup. And I’m not even allowed to confront him? Would it make you feel better if I just pretended like nothing happened and congratulated you both to your faces?”

Despite everything, the tears I had fought so hard to hold back finally spilled over.

Toby’s expression softened when he saw my tears. Guilt flickered in his eyes.

He stepped forward and pulled me into his arms. His voice was low, almost gentle.

“Stacy, please try to understand. Tammy isn’t like you. You’re only a little over a month along. She is three months pregnant. Her belly’s already starting to show. If the pack elders find out she’s pregnant without a mate bond, they’ll exile her. She has no one else but me…

“Don’t be mad. I promise you—once she gives birth and things settle down, I’ll come back. I’ll bond with you, take care of you and our pup. Okay?”

I did not respond. Toby reached up to wipe my tears, but before his hand could touch my face, Tammy tugged on his sleeve.

“Toby, I can’t breathe very well. Maybe I’m just too upset…”

Toby froze for a second, then dropped his hand. Instead, he lightly patted the top of my head like a child.

“Tammy’s really emotional right now. I need to calm her down.

“And it’s not good for you to be here either. Just head home, alright? Please.”

He sounded like I was the problem, and I might upset her. He let go of me, turned around and gently consoled Tammy.

In that moment, as I watched how effortlessly he left me behind, I finally understood Toby’s love and concern came with priorities.

Unfortunately, I was never his first.

I wiped my tears, turned around, and walked out of the hospital without looking back.

When I got home, I saw a message from a friend, asking again if I would consider joining their pack as a tracker.

I had the best nose and the fastest reflexes. I would be an asset.

However, in my condition, I would only slow them down during early pregnancy.

Back then, I would have declined without hesitation. I would have told her I was pregnant.

Yet, now… for the first time, I wavered.

Right then, Toby came home.

He saw me sitting silently in the dark, the lights still off, and pulled me into his arms. His hands gently moved to my stomach.

“What are you thinking about? Still upset?”

When I did not answer, he rubbed my belly softly and said,

“I already promised you. Once Tammy and her pup are taken care of, I’ll come back and bond with you. Being upset like this isn’t good for our baby, you know.”

Toby knew me too well. He knew I cared about family, and that I loved children. He used that against me, counting on it to win my forgiveness.

He also knew how to sway me.

Just the heat of his breath against my neck made me tremble, unwillingly.

“Stacy, you’re my precious mate. You know that, don’t you?”

I looked into his passionate, tender eyes, and a final glimmer of hope sparked in my heart.

“What if I don’t understand? What if I don’t agree? My belly’s going to grow too. Aren’t you worried I’ll get kicked out of the pack?”

Toby’s voice suddenly dropped, low and firm.

“I’m not asking for your permission, Stacy. I’m telling you what I’ve decided.”

I froze, every muscle in my body going stiff in the darkness. Toby let out a sigh and kissed the top of my head.

“No one will find out. I believe you’ll hide your belly well and take care of yourself. Tammy can’t do that. She only has me. I can’t turn my back on her.”

He stepped away, walked into the bedroom.

A few minutes later, he came back with a packed bag.

He walked to the door, turned around and looked at me, still sitting there in silence, and said, “Tammy’s really upset about what you said today. I’m worried it’ll affect her health. I’m going to stay with her for a few days. If you need anything, call me.”

So that was why he came back.

He did not even see my shoulders trembling in the dark as I cried. Without hesitation, he closed the door behind him.

I was alone—with nothing but heartbreak and silence.

Toby knew he was all I had. He knew my belly would grow. He knew my emotions could hurt our pup too.

He just did not care.

To him, my pain and our child never mattered as much as Tammy.

I wiped my tears and called my friend.

“I’m not bonding with Toby anymore. I accept your offer. I’ll leave in a month.”

After my body recovered, my training as a tracker went unusually smoothly. With my natural talent and relentless dedication, I became the most famous and mysterious gifted tracker in the entire werewolf community in less than three years.I returned to this pack three years later. After becoming quite well-known, I had taken a high-paying mission, and as I passed through this pack, the elders and other werewolves from the town waited on the main road, eager to catch a glimpse of my mysterious face. When they realized the star, they had been waiting for was me, they were all stunned. After all, back then, they, along with Amy, had called me a slut, accusing me of carrying a bastard child, disgracing the pack, and even shouting that I should be driven out. However, after that brief pause, when they looked at me again, all they showed were pride and friendly smiles.“So, Stacy is a famous tracker! She is so cool!”“I knew it! I could tell from the start, Stacy was special! She w

“Ah!”Tammy’s shrill scream echoed through the night. However, Toby did not even look at her. He stubbornly kept walking toward me, step by step.He gazed at me. His eyes welled up with tears again.“Stacy, look! I’ve gotten rid of that crazy woman. Can you believe in my sincerity now?”I frowned, not wanting to get caught up in this any longer. Rubbing my sore body from the collision, I tried to leave. Before I could move, he grabbed me first. It was as though he was trying to fuse us together, he held me tightly in his arms.“Please, forgive me. Let’s start over, just like before. Let’s have another child, please.”He held me, but I felt nothing. My face was calm as I pushed him away.“I’ve already decided to go to my friend’s pack and learn how to be a tracker. As for you… It’s too late, Toby. Your regret and realization came too late.”I tried to step around him, but he suddenly dropped to his knees, blocking my path.Choking on his words, he grabbed the hem of my clothe

I laughed. I said the cruellest thing in the calmest voice.“You just think Tammy and her baby matter more.”Toby was stunned for a moment. Unable to deny it, he slapped himself across the face hard. The sound echoed through the night. Tammy and Amy, who had followed the noise, came running toward us.Tammy was the first to lash out. She slammed into me, shoving me hard.“You’re crazy, Stacy! It is bad enough you are clinging to Toby. Now you are trying to hurt him?”I was still weak from surgery, and I could not hold my ground. My body crashed into a tree with the impact.Toby flinched, stumbling as he tried to rush toward me, but Amy held him back.“Don’t, Toby! She still won’t admit she’s wrong. Stacy deserves this!”Tammy stood protectively in front of him, baring her teeth at me like a wolf ready to attack.“This is your final warning. Stay away from Toby. Hurt him again, and I swear, I’ll end you!”I laughed. As I watched Tammy, heavily pregnant, shielding Toby with h

After Toby calmed Tammy down and finished a series examination, it was already close to dusk. When he finally remembered me, my surgery had long been over. When he arrived at the empty examination room and did not see me, he was not worried at all.It was not until he could not get through to my phone that he felt something was off.“Toby, why hasn’t Stacy come back yet? Me and the baby are hungry. How about we go home first? She will be fine, she can take care of herself and come home later.”Tammy clung to Toby’s arm, complaining and acting cute, as she usually did. This time, Toby did not immediately follow her suggestion.A sense of unease drove him to search the hospital. His steps stopped at the operating room where I had just been.“Stacy? She had her surgery here an hour ago.”Toby’s face turned pale in an instant. His eyes were fixed on the yellow medical waste disposal bag in the nurse’s hand. A shudder ran through his body without him being able to stop it.“Surge

My last hope died out.I stared into Toby’s eyes, searching for something, but there was nothing, just cold emptiness. They locked me in the dark, damp basement. That night, under the cover of darkness, I pulled out my phone and scheduled an abortion. Once I severed the final tie between us, nothing would be able to hold me back. The procedure was set for a week later, on the same day I planned to leave for good. However, just after I hung up the phone, I felt a faint flutter in my belly, and I hesitated.Just then, the basement door was kicked open. Tammy stood there, her pregnant belly leading the way.Now that it was just the two of us, she dropped the act completely. Her face twisted into a smug, scornful grin.“How boring, Stacy. I didn’t think you would break so easily. Where’s the fun in that?”She took slow, deliberate steps toward me, her face contorted with malice.“I warned you—Toby is mine. I am the only she-wolf who matters to him. You thought you could steal him

  • His Love Came with Priorities   Chapter 3

Toby moving out actually made things easier for me. I packed my bags and prepared everything I needed before I left.He was busy taking care of Tammy every day. Occasionally, he would remember I existed and text to ask how I was doing. Still, when he noticed how cold I had become, even those messages became few and far between. It was not until a week before my departure, on my way home from the hospital, that I ran into Toby’s sister, Amy.The moment I saw her, I instinctively hid the medical report in my hand. However, Amy was not paying attention to that—Her eyes were locked on my slightly rounded belly. Her voice shot up in shock as she shrieked, “Stacy! How dare you?! You actually cheated on my brother and got pregnant with another wolf’s pup?!”I frowned. My voice was calm and cold, “This is Toby’s child.”Yet, she let out a cold sneer and stared at me.“Don’t try to lie your way out! I saw it, and you still want to deny it? My brother’s been so kind to you, and it turns

He did not seem happy.Instead, he frowned, clearly troubled. When I pressed him about when we would hold the Marking Ceremony, he panicked and quickly changed the subject.I figured it was just all too sudden. Perhaps, he was not ready yet.The truth only came out during a routine prenatal visit—one I attended alone. That's when I ran into Tammy, Toby's so-called "childhood friend."It turns out they had already formed a mate bond, and she was pregnant too.…“Little one, be good in Mommy’s belly, okay? Do not make things too hard for me. Or once you are born, Daddy will have to give your tiny butt a spanking!”Tammy walked out of the exam room, whispering to her belly, while Toby, supporting her, stood by with a gentle smile and a look of tender amusement on his face. “No way. Our baby is going to be the cutest, most well-behaved little pup. There will be no trouble for Mo
