Chapter 42

On the day of our departure, we got up at dawn to leave as early as possible. The men were going to ride on horseback while the women and children were going to make the trip on three elegant blue carriages.

Mary Terese, her daughter, and Linda were with me in my carriage. Since Rudyard and Linda's son was 12 years old he would ride alongside his father, consequently, we had plenty of room to spare, which I appreciated as the journey was long. We took the road of Alexandra, named in honor of the old queen who used to spend long periods at the Palace.
