Wendy Clayton stepped out of the Omega quarters. She wore a brown dress and black slippers. Her red hair shone and bounced as she rushed out to find her mate. She had turned 18 the previous month, and now the full moon hung in the night sky. The scent of coffee pulled at her senses. Her stomach growled with excitement. Her heart thudded against her rib cage as she hurried out of the pack house, running in search of her mate. Several werewolves were outside, sprinting to find their own mates. The air buzzed with anticipation, and Wendy believed she would find her mate. She was mute. She could not communicate with anyone except through hand signs or through her wolf, Poppy. Wendy shifted into Poppy, running toward that coffee scent that drew her. Her large paws struck the ground as Poppy, a red wolf, carried her forward. When Wendy reached the woods, she stopped. She heard voices and moans echoing deep within the trees. The tall trees shielded her, and she shifted back to her human form, hiding so the people mating in the woods would not see her. Her heart burned with pain, and she coughed up blood. There, in the woods, stood Alpha Dax Boston, a tall 23-year-old man, completely naked. He was mating with Emma Parker, the Beta's daughter. They were both náked under the full moon. Wendy's eyes filled with betrayal. What had she been thinking? That Alpha Dax would accept a mute omega like her? Wendy could not speak. She could not call them out. She saw Alpha Dax standing behind Emma, his hands on her waist, his cọck thrusting deeply into Emma's wet core. "Yes, hit me, Alpha. Yes, yes!" Emma moaned. Her eyes rolled back. Her head fell backward with excitement. She knelt on all fours. Alpha Dax stood right behind her, his hands gripping her waist, his thrusts pounding deeply into her wetness. "Yes, right there! Harder, Alpha!" Emma moaned in pleasure. Wendy's eyes burned with hatred. She knew Alpha Dax disliked her. She remembered he had warned her to stop gawking at him. She saw him raise his head and look at her in the woods. Her orange eyes met his light blue eyes. He did not stop. He did not withdraw his cọck. She watched him pump faster into Emma's behind until he reached his climax. He moaned in pleasure, and his lips curled into a smirk at Wendy. Wendy turned and dashed back to the pack house. Her heart burned with agony. She knew Alpha Dax would never accept her. How dare she think she was fit to be Luna? She shifted into Poppy. "I'm sorry, Wendy. I should have told you," Poppy said, her voice thick with pity. Her heart burned too, as they both felt Alpha Dax's betrayal. "It's not your fault. If only I could speak. If only I was fit to be his Luna," Wendy cried, running back home. When she reached the pack house, many who had found their goddess-gifted mates had gone home. A few people stood outside. They looked at Wendy with disgust. Many of them did not like her. She was a mute, like a stain on the pack. Wendy walked to her parents' quarters. She found her mother, Juliet, and her father, Amos, standing at the front door. Her mother had fair skin like Wendy and red hair too. She served as a servant for the Alpha's family. Her father was a warrior, but of lower rank. "Wendy! What happened? Did you find your mate?" Her mother rushed to hold her when she saw how Wendy looked devastated. Her father stepped forward, his face filled with pity. Her mother spoke to her through the mindlink. Wendy shook her head to indicate no. Her heart broke. Tears poured from her eyes. She could not tell her parents she was mated to the Alpha's son. Alpha Neo and his mate, Stella, did not like Wendy's parents. Her body trembled under her mother's comforting hug. "It's fine. You will find your goddess-gifted mate. You don't have to cry. You're still young, and there are many chances and full moons to come," her mother comforted her, her tone soft, her hands hugging Wendy. "Let's go in," her mother said before turning to lead her inside. Wendy met her father's gaze. He sighed and stepped forward. "Have faith in the moon goddess. She will bless you with a mate," he spoke to her through the mindlink. Wendy nodded. She did not want to tell her parents the truth. She feared what Alpha Neo and his mate, Stella, would do to her parents. She knew Luna Stella disliked her mother because of her beauty and natural red hair. Wendy walked with her parents to their Omega quarters. She heard some of the omegas laughing at her. "What did Wendy think? That she would find her goddess-gifted mate? Haha! Even mutes want fated mates!" Nadia Nicolas laughed at Wendy. Nadia was an Omega too, but she was closer to the Beta's family because Emma was her friend. "A mute with hope, while we who can talk haven't found our mates. Useless omega!" Rita spat, her eyes shooting daggers at Wendy. "Don't pay attention to them, Wendy," her mother said. Her hands moved to cover Wendy's ears, and she led her to their suite. It was a small house, built among other omega quarters in the large pack house. The house had three small bedrooms. Wendy had her own room. Her older brother, Ruben, had one room, while her parents had one. Ruben came home, knowing Wendy was going to find her mate. He wore a brown top and black trousers with black boots. He was training to be a pack warrior. He had brown hair like their father. He walked to meet Wendy. "Did you find your mate?" he asked, his voice thick with concern. Wendy shook her head and brushed her brother's hand off her shoulder. She dashed into her room, shut the door, and sank to the floor crying. "Wendy, you will find your mate. Have hope!" Ruben said as he pounded on the door. "Wendy, I came home to see you. If you didn't find your mate today, you can find him some other time, okay!" Wendy mindlinked her brother. "Okay. I need to sleep. Goodnight." She moved away from the floor and went to bed to sleep. Her heart burned from the pain of Alpha Dax's betrayal. How would she reject him? She thought.Wendy. "Wendy! Wendy!!" Wendy heard her parents' voices from the foot of the door. They slammed the door, threatening to open it."Wendy, if you do not open this door, I will break it down now!" Her older brother, Ruben, shouted."Wendy, open the door. You need to prepare for the palace visit today. Don't forget it's my turn to help clean the Pack house," Juliet called, but Wendy could not mindlink her mother.Poppy was in so much pain. Wendy felt weak and looked at the door. Her body ached as the memory of what happened the previous night filled her heart.Alpha Dax's betrayal. After mating with her, he rejected her. Wendy shut her eyes. She was a mute, an Omega. How dare she trust that shameless Alpha? He seduced her the previous night and mated with her."Wendy, I'm counting to ten. If you don't open this door, I will break it open! One!" Ruben counted, waiting for Wendy to come and open the door."Two!""Three!" His voice rose an octave."Ruben, go check if Wendy's window is open
Alpha Dax. Dax watched Wendy shift in the bed. He had come to her room to reject her. But when his gaze landed on her thighs, he couldn't resist the bond—the pull, the force of attraction to claim her. His throat tightened. His jaw clenched. His pheromones surged forward, filling the room, and he caught her arousal mixed with anxiety."Mine!" Daniel purred within Dax's chest. "Let's not reject our mate, Dax. The moon goddess gifted her to you. She is a blessing, not a curse.""No way." Dax snarled at his wolf. "I will not accept a mute for a mate.""You cannot reject her. You will suffer great consequences and regret it. Emma is not ours. Wendy is," Daniel growled, surging forward to claim Wendy. He wanted to place his mark on her, to seal the mating bond."No!" Dax snarled at his wolf. "Fine, I will mate with Wendy. But she cannot be my Luna. She is too weak. Do you want her to die?"Daniel snarled. "She won't die.""Enough." Dax cut off the mindlink. He looked at Wendy trembling on
Alpha Dax.Dax had only arrived at Wendy's parents' quarters to reject her. Most of the omegas stayed indoors. It was late at night, around 3 a.m.Dax had first gone home after he finished mating with Emma. He met his mother, Stella, in the living room of their magnificent white mansion. She asked him, "Dax, what kept you so long outside in the woods? I almost sent Beta Jeff to search for you."Dax gritted his teeth. Jeff Parker was Emma's older brother. Of course, Dax knew that Jeff was aware he was in the woods with his younger sister. Jeff knew they were mating, so he did not come to search for them."Mom, it's late. You should get some rest," Dax told her as he strode over to meet her."What's that mating smell, Dax? Did you find your goddess-gifted mate? You smell so different," Stella asked, stepping closer to her son. She tried to scent him out. His familiar coffee scent mixed with a new scent.Dax stepped backward, avoiding his mother's nose."Mom, I find that disrespectful. I
Wendy.Wendy lay on her bed, shivering from the cold night wind. She could not stand up to shut the curtain. The wind rattled her window frame. She looked at the man who was supposed to be her fa
