Barren Woman.

last update Last Updated: 2025-02-16 06:30:06

Asher's POV.

My gaze snapped to Alexandria in shock, my mind racing to catch up with reality. I wasn’t expecting her—no, this wasn’t a visit. She had caught me. She had walked in at the exact moment she shouldn’t have, and there was no getting out of this.

I muttered a curse under my breath, the bitter taste of betrayal coating my tongue—not for what I had done, but for the fact that I had been caught.

Sandra stood there, unmoving, eerily quiet. For minutes, she didn’t say a word, just stared at me and at Theresa, and at the tangled mess she had walked into. When she finally spoke, her voice was cool and controlled, like she wasn’t fazed by what she was seeing. But I knew better.

"Asher, you?"

Two simple words, but I heard everything she wasn’t saying. The disbelief, the hurt. The weight of it settled in the pit of my stomach.

I reached for my boxers under the blanket, hastily sliding them on as I buckled my belt. Beside me, Theresa let out a hiss of annoyance, clearly irritated that our moment had been interrupted.

Getting off the bed, I took slow steps toward Alexandria, still struggling to process what was happening. I had never imagined this scenario, not even in my worst nightmares.

Her eyes flickered to Theresa, who had also risen from the bed, the blanket draped loosely around her naked form. Unlike Alexandria, there was no shock on her face, no guilt—just boredom, as if this confrontation was nothing but an inconvenience.

"Alexandria, it’s not what you think," I said, my voice almost pleading. I reached out, trying to touch her, to ground her, but she stepped back before I could.

She blinked, her lips trembling slightly. "You’ve been cheating on me?"

Her voice cracked on the last word, and something inside me twisted at the sound. I hated it. I hated seeing her like this—miserable and broken. All because of me.

She shouldn’t have needed to ask. The answer was right in front of her. But I didn’t want to admit it. I didn’t want to deny it either.

Alexandria turned to Theresa, searching for something—an explanation, a sliver of humanity. But Theresa only tilted her head, her expression void of concern.

"He was here when I called you?" Alexandria asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Theresa smirked. "Yeah, he was. I meant to send him home sooner, but he wouldn’t leave. You disgust him."

Alexandria’s face fell, and I clenched my jaw. I wanted to shut Theresa up, to stop her from making things worse, but I also didn’t want to look like a fool.

"Theresa, how could you?" She whispered, the betrayal evident in her tear-filled eyes.

Theresa let out a laugh, shaking her head. "You couldn’t satisfy him, Alexandria. You heard him on the phone. He wants me, not you."

Before Alexandria could react, I turned to Theresa, my anger flaring.

"You were on the phone with her earlier? And you didn’t stop me from saying anything?" I asked, struggling to believe she had set me up like that.

Alexandria scoffed, her gaze locking onto mine. She must have realized I wasn’t remorseful for cheating—only for getting caught.

And maybe she was right.

Theresa crossed her arms. "She deserved to know. It’s been five months already."

My blood ran cold.

Damn it, Theresa.

Alexandria took a staggering step back, her body hitting the door. I wanted to reach for her, to stop her from falling, but what good would that do?

"Five months," Alexandria repeated, her voice hollow. "So that’s why. That’s why my marriage started falling apart."

Her eyes met mine again, filled with nothing but pain.

"Asher… Five months? How could you? I loved you!"

The tears finally spilled, running down her face in streams. She was breaking right in front of me, shattering like fragile glass, and I was the one holding the hammer.

Theresa rolled her eyes. "You loved him, but he doesn’t love you.”

"Theresa, shut up," I snarled, my patience snapping.

But she wasn’t done.

"He stopped loving you the moment you couldn’t satisfy him. He got tired of you, Alexandria," Theresa continued, her voice dripping with cruelty.

I wanted to silence her, but what was the point? The damage was already done.

Alexandria shook her head, tears still falling. "I gave you everything, Asher. My love, my trust, my money, my company. I gave you my heart! And this is how you repay me?"

I swallowed hard. I knew she would bring that up. She had given me everything—too much, even.

Theresa’s next words were unexpected, ruthless and merciless to Alexandria.

"There’s another thing you never gave him too, a child. You are barren, remember.”

My head snapped to Theresa, my anger flaring again. She was pushing too far.

"Theresa, just stop," I warned. "You’ll ruin my marriage."

Alexandria let out a bitter laugh, shaking her head. "Your marriage?"

Theresa scoffed, tightening the blanket around her body. "You should be thinking about our baby right now, not your marriage."

Silence.

Alexandria’s breath hitched. "B-Baby?"

"Damn it," I muttered, running my hands through my hair.

Alexandria’s eyes darted between us, searching for confirmation, for denial—for anything. But neither of us spoke.

She turned to Theresa, her hands trembling as she grabbed her by the shoulders.

"What baby, Theresa?" she demanded, her voice breaking. "What are you talking about?"

Theresa sneered. "Are you that dumb, Alexandria? You didn’t notice anything for the past six months, and now you can’t process a single word?"

Her fingers tightened on Theresa’s shoulders. "Say it!" she screamed, her voice raw.

But before Theresa could, a loud groan tore through the room.

Alexandria shoved her, sending her tumbling to the floor, clutching her stomach.

"Asher! She pushed me! Our baby!" Theresa cried out.

My vision blurred with rage as I turned to Alexandria.

"The hell is wrong with you, you barren woman?!" I roared finally deciding not to care about saving our marriage.

Before I even thought about it, my hands shoved her back. Her body crashed against the door, and she crumpled to the floor, unmoving.

My breath caught in my throat.

Alexandria wasn’t moving.

I had knocked her unconscious.

  • His Regret: Barren Ex-Wife Has A Baby   Breakdown

Ethan’s POV.The first thought that came to my mind when I saw Alex in the daycare was that she had come to pick up her child just like me but when she started cleaning Stefan up, my perception changed. And it was affirmed when she confirmed she works in the daycare. Stefan must have given her ideas that was why she inquired if I was married which I quickly refuted. Stefan was my sister's kid but I had grown so attached to him that I regarded him as mine. Alex wasn't the only one who had asked if I was married because of Stefan, I had gotten those questions several times and it breaks my heart.Being reminded of how I lost my first girlfriend and fiancee was a pleasant experience at all. “You're not married?" She sounded like she doubted me. “Yeah, I’m not." Switching Stefan to my other arm, I said, “Actually, Stefan is my sister's kid but I had become so attached to him that I regard him as mine." I chuckled, watching as she nodded her head slowly. “Sorry for the misconception.

  • His Regret: Barren Ex-Wife Has A Baby   A New Life.

Alexandra's POV.Two months later.Pulling the crying child to myself, I struggled to keep feeding the other. “Oh sweetie, momma is coming soon okay." I cooed, trying to make the kid stop crying but it was to no avail. Hurriedly but carefully so the child I was feeding won't choke, I fed him and once I was done, I scooped the crying child into my hands, trying all I could to soothe him. Swirling around and singing some rhymes to him, I continued this way until he fell asleep. With a bright smile on my lips, I placed him on the cot before shifting my attention to the rest of the children who were playing. Work at the daycare was so tiring that each day when I returned home I would start aching all over but never for once did I complain about it.The kids here made me forget about the loss of my child.Just as he has said, the coordinator back at the foundation gave me a job as a receptionist in a hotel but I quit after a week of working. When I was alone, I wouldn't help but to z

  • His Regret: Barren Ex-Wife Has A Baby   Where do I go now?

Alexandra's POV.For the first time in my life, I felt cornered. Up until now, I have already had everything I wanted effortlessly at my beck and call but not anymore. I was no longer the heiress of Scott Enterprise, neither was I the daughter of Edward Scott. Grabbing my duffel bag which held a little of my belongings, I stepped out of the premises and didn't stop walking despite having nowhere in mind to go. Father had given a strict warning that he didn't want to see me anywhere near his property. If he could disown me without batting his eyelids, handing me over to the police for trespassing was an easy task for him too. The look I was getting from passersby made my skin crawl.Without having to ask them, I knew they were wondering why a lady in a wedding gown was walking on the road and clutching a duffel bag. Before I would be accosted by anyone, I decided to change into something else and so without wasting any more time, I made my way to the public bathroom for the firs

Alexandra's POV.The look on father's face showed he had heard every bit of our conversation.Holding my breath in fright, I folded my hands in front of me as the fear of uncertainty loomed in. “When did you join us?" Ethan broke the silence with an awkward chuckle but father didn't respond; instead, he fixed his gaze on me. What am I going to do now? — I questioned, my chest heavy with different thoughts threatening to take away my sanity as the tension in the room became even more thick. “You didn't take out the child like you made me believe." Father spoke for the first time with a voice barely above a whisper but I heard him clearly. The disappointment in his tone which was also laced with anger couldn't be missed too and for a moment, I felt life sipping out of me slowly. Gulping, I tried to speak but words refused to form. I was terrified to my bones.A few days ago, father had clearly told me there were dire consequences if I tried anything stupid; he wasn't bluffing ba

  • His Regret: Barren Ex-Wife Has A Baby   The Confession

Alexandra's POV.Folding my hands on my thigh, I remained still as the beautician worked expertly on my face to give me the best look father said I deserved. When she was done, the fashion designer in charge of my gown came through, helping me into the customized gown father had gotten for me. To make this marriage leave an indelible mark in the mind of all the guests he had invited, father had spent a fortune. By the time they were done with helping me prepare for my wedding, I wore a different look that made the smile on my lips broaden. “I'm so beautiful." I mumbled, checking out myself in the mirror while the ladies chuckled behind me. “I had only applied a little make up on your face, nothing else. You're already beautiful." The beautician complimented. So not to be left out, the fashion designer also chipped in her own compliment before they both left my room, leaving me to myself. For the next few minutes that followed, I kept staring at my reflection in the mirror as my

  • His Regret: Barren Ex-Wife Has A Baby   What happened to the lights?

Alexandra's POV.The moment the lights went off, there was chaos in the living room as everyone was speaking at the same time, unwilling to listen to what the next person had to say. Flashlights pooped out from all corners but it was not enough to illuminate the whole room, though it managed to cover some places. Looking around, I found my father speaking to a man and immediately after the man took his leave, he hit his palms together to get the attention of everyone present. With a loud and firm voice, he said, “I apologize for the inconveniences, we are going to fix the issue right away.” His words were able to placate the guests and the murmuring died down. Finally, the light was restored and the engagement ceremony continued in a full swing. At the end of it, I retired to my room. I had just stepped into my sleeping gown when I heard a knock and with no doubt, I was certain it was father on the other end. Staring at the door, I made no move towards it. "I know you are not
