Marietta’s POV

Everything in me went still. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe.

“What?” I whispered.

She didn’t repeat it. She didn’t have to. I’d heard it loud and clear.

I’ve just been in the hospital bed for two months, and Aiden has moved on?

“How is that ever possible? How could he move on so quickly?” I whispered, crashing to the cold floor.

“That’s because he forgot about you after the accident,” Bella whispered.

I blinked back the tears in my eyes, letting myself know that I hadn’t seen Aiden.

He hasn’t refused me yet. “He said he loved me,”

“I know,” Bella answered.

I slowly got back to my feet and tried to make my way out when I stumbled on the doctor.

“Is everything okay? Miss Etta? Miss Bella?” The doctor questioned, looking confused.

“Yes, doctor. Thanks for the help. I’m better now.” I nodded, faking a smile.

“Bella, can we leave now?”

“Wait. You need to see the pharmacist downstairs and get these medicines. It’s for Miss Etta,” the doctor said, handing over a white pa

  • His Regret: Winning Back Her Heart   Chapter 395

Marietta’s POVSilence fell on every corner of the room. Even the maids who were working seized their movements as this was a very sensitive period. No one dared to say a word, not even a pin dropped. It was that time when the whole world seized its function.“Mother, are you even listening to me?” Aiden shot back, but I was quick to hold him back. “Aiden–”“Do not interfere. Let me handle this, okay?” He proposed, not letting go of my hand, regardless. I swallowed hard. At this point, I was seeing Aiden in another light. Scary and very dominating. This time around, I could tell he was here for just conversations alone. He is planning something very dangerous—one that was going to spring forth very soon.“Mother, you heard me! To what extent are you going to do this?” Aiden continued. Judging from how pushy he was, everyone knew he wasn’t going to back down.“Did you send the assassin after Marie–”“So what if I did?” She finally broke the silence, her face palpable.I could hear t

Mariettad's POVThat's a joke,” Joel smiled, winking at me playfully.“It’s so good to see my brother smiling, and all lively. Very unlike him,” Jace commented, turning toward me with curious eyes. “What did you do to him?”“Nothing,” I answered quickly, my voice soft but nervous. I wasn’t ready to let my emotions betray me. Not here, not in front of him.“Why do I find that hard to believe?” Jace mused. “My brother never touches women, never trains them, and he never—smiles.”My eyes widened. What? I couldn’t believe it. Joel, the same man who challenged me, teased me, and just kissed me by accident was apparently that rigid?“I don’t understand,” I murmured before I could stop myself.Joel continued eating calmly, unbothered by his brother’s words. That quiet confidence almost made the teasing worse, because it meant Jace wasn’t lying.“And should I tell you a secret about him?” Jace leaned forward, waving for the maids to clear out.Once they’d stepped back, heads bowed, he whisper

  • His Regret: Winning Back Her Heart   Chapter 392

Marietta's POV“Listen up, everyone,” I began, my face devoid of emotions, pulling Arthur closer to myself. This is my body, and rule number one is that I cannot allow anyone to disrespect it. I wish there was something I could do about it. However, it seems the moon goddess has only given me the best choice, which is this. It's left for me to act how I deem fit. “I believe we all know who Vanessa is?” My voice echoed, loud enough for everyone to hear my instructions. “Yes, Alpha.” They chorused. “Good.” I nodded, my gaze drifting from them back to Vanessa who looked a bit tense. “I made Vanessa my personal maid. And I'm sure you all are aware of what that means right?” They all went silent, my gaze settling on Selene, who didn't seem comfortable with whatever it was that I was saying. As much as I know who I was up against, I believe in the slow and steady to win the race. She is pregnant with a child, I'm sure, that doesn't belong to Arthur. I need to wait for months to b

~ Vanessa's POV ~ “I should be the one asking you that!” I shrieked, my eyes almost bulging out of their sockets. “Seriously? You were just going to execute her for cheating on you, Arthur? What changed?” She heaved a sigh, seeing that everyone was now staring. Arthur stared at me from below, the sun shining so bright, revealing what seemed a bit strange to me from afar. His eyes…they were bold and they seemed to carry some kind of sincerity I had seen the first time I met him. That seems like eyes I had seen under the tenth. Those same eyes that were ready to prove that I meant the world to him just by staring. But with my heart racing faster, I honestly do not know what to believe anymore. “They will not be executed,” I repeat, looking past Selene and back to the elders who seem a bit shocked at my sudden decision. “Bring them to the palace.” It was the last statement I made before walking out on them all. They do not get to decide for me. Rather I'll decide for them. Makin

  • His Regret: Winning Back Her Heart   Chapter 390

Marietta's POVAs soon as I was indoors with this kidnapper. I yanked my hand free from him as he smashed my head against the mirror in front of one of the lactrines. “Fuck!” I screamed as blood oozed out of my head as I placed my head gently on it to be sure I was really bleeding. “You mother fucker! Who the hell are you?!” I cried out. Now regretting why I was here in the first place. I had told Aiden to let us just stay back at home and have fun. And now this. He looks like a psychopath. Like someone that was hired to finish me. And truly, he was a hired assassin.“You want to know who I am?” He asked as I gently slid my hand to the back of my hair. Thankfully, tonight was one of the nights when I had wrapped my hair with a hairpin. This was the only weapon I had right now against him.I stepped back carefully, gesturing with my hand for the man not to come closer. “Yes. What have I done to deserve this? I didn’t-”“I’ll tell you who sent me since this will be your last tim
