Marietta’s POV

My breath hitched as I felt him closing in on me.

I couldn’t process my next word as I swallowed hard, my eyes fixed on his Adam's apple.

Did he mean what he said?

“Relax,” he smiled, before helping me put the seatbelt on.

“I was only joking,” he giggled a bit, and returned to his seat.

I felt my heart pumping faster as I quickly hid my trembling hands.

That was a fast one. I can’t believe I’m falling for someone who looks like Elsie–I mean, Jackson and Michael. I don’t pray to ever have those kind of people in my life ever again.

“I’m sorry I frightened you,” he replied.

With his hands still on the wheels and his eyes on me, I nodded abruptly.

“That startled me,” I smiled briefly before holding back. “You might want to focus now,” I said, feigning a smile.

All through the journey back to the office, I couldn’t believe Aiden would risk his life to come looking for me.

  • His Regret: Winning Back Her Heart   Chapter 346

Marietta’s POVThe moment I stepped into the airport terminal, I felt it—the weight of a past I had long buried.Three years had passed, yet the air in America still carried the scent of old betrayals. I had rehearsed this moment countless times, told myself I was ready. But nothing prepared me for the sharp sting of familiarity as the cold air kissed my skin.I adjusted my sunglasses and tightened my grip on my suitcase. My plan was simple: get in, handle business, and leave with my dignity intact. No distractions. No emotions. But fate had other plans.I heard reporters calling my name—the one I had spent years rebuilding—spread like wildfire. Heads turned. Cameras flashed. Reporters swarmed toward me with recorders and microphones in hand.I kept my expression neutral, offering the reporters a small, polite smile before walking past them. My driver, already waiting, quickly opened the car door, shielding me from the chaos.I slid into the back seat and let out a quiet breath as the

Marietta’s POV“I can’t believe you are still in bed!”Michael’s voice cut through my groggy mind like a knife.“And why haven’t you packed up earlier?” he demanded, his brow furrowed in frustration.“Michael, I’m sick,” I murmured weakly, my body heavy with exhaustion.“Are you aware that your flight is scheduled to take off five hours from now?!”“I think I might have caught a fever last night.”“Stop lying, Etta,” he snapped, his disbelief stinging me more than my fever.“I’m not,” I bit back, my voice hoarse.“You are leaving this afternoon. I’ll drive you to the airport, and you must leave even if you don’t want to!” Michael flared up and stormed out, his anger lingering in the air.A bitter smile curled my lips. Michael driving me to the airport himself? How ironic.“C’mon, Marietta, don’t be stupid. He just wants to make sure you leave,” I scoffed under my breath, closing the door behind him.I dragged myself to the bed, my body aching. Maybe a short nap would help.A few hours

  • His Regret: Winning Back Her Heart   Chapter 344

Marietta’s POV “Don't let them know,” Albert pulled me closer. Tears formed in my eyes as my hands trembled in fear. “Just get me a first aid box. It's just a scratch,” he replied. In a second, I was soaked in sweat. “Listen to me,” he said.Reaching out to my hand and holding me firmer. He pulled me closer. “You'll stich me up.” He whispered into my ears. My jaws dropped in fear as I shook my head in disapproval. “I've never done that before. I can't,” I stuttered and tried to run away. “Then I'll hold you right here while you watch me die,” he replied. I could see his eyes getting closed as much blood spilled from the cut. It appears that whoever has done that left through the window. There were shades of broken glass on the floor, which served as evidence. “Hey, listen to Marietta.” He tilted my head up. “Just follow my lead,” he pleaded. Placing the cotton wool in my hand. And the spirit. He stuffed his mouth with some bandages. “I’m sorry,” I pleaded. And like tha

  • His Regret: Winning Back Her Heart   Chapter 343

Marietta’s POVEverything in me went still. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t breathe.“What?” I whispered. She didn’t repeat it. She didn’t have to. I’d heard it loud and clear.I’ve just been in the hospital bed for two months, and Aiden has moved on?“How is that ever possible? How could he move on so quickly?” I whispered, crashing to the cold floor. “That’s because he forgot about you after the accident,” Bella whispered.I blinked back the tears in my eyes, letting myself know that I hadn’t seen Aiden. He hasn’t refused me yet. “He said he loved me,”“I know,” Bella answered.I slowly got back to my feet and tried to make my way out when I stumbled on the doctor.“Is everything okay? Miss Etta? Miss Bella?” The doctor questioned, looking confused.“Yes, doctor. Thanks for the help. I’m better now.” I nodded, faking a smile.“Bella, can we leave now?”“Wait. You need to see the pharmacist downstairs and get these medicines. It’s for Miss Etta,” the doctor said, handing over a white pa

  • His Regret: Winning Back Her Heart   Chapter 342

Marietta's POV All through the period I spent at the hospital with Aiden. I couldn't help but feel so bad.“I never knew you had a painful–” “Beginning?” Aiden smiled with his hands entwined with mine. It was already night, and we both couldn't help but look at the sky and marvel at the stars that shone brighter in it. “My mother had an accident while I was in high school.” He started. “All efforts to bring her back to life didn't work.” He continued, trying so hard not to tear up. Sitting on a nearby bench, not too far from us, I helped wipe his tears off. Sometimes, I thought I was the only one life had dealt with seriously. From getting a divorce from the person I loved most to getting pregnant. Losing my child and my career in the middle of the whole thing was just too much for me to bear. But listening to Aiden, I feel so sorry for him. “I work part-time jobs after spending all my mother has on her health,” he replied.“My mother was a very rich and popular woman. But

Marietta’s POVAiden’s mother stumbled backward upon seeing how angry I was. This was my other side that nobody knew I had. The saucy, classy, and angry me. I wasn’t going to take all the bullshit people throw at me. I was done with that rubbish. And right now, I’m here to fight for the love that found me in the midst of it.And yes, I’m never going to let go of Aiden regardless of whatever happens.“I don’t know what you are talking about,” She lied. What she didn’t know was that Michael had already told me everything a couple of months back. And we’ve gotten to this stage because of his reckless game.“You think I wasn’t aware of everything he said to you? That he was married to me?” I stepped forward, standing beside Aiden, whose face lit up upon seeing me stand up for myself.“Well, news flash,” I smirked, “We are divorced. And Michael has been thrown behind bars for causing the accident that happened to me…” I paused.Pecking Aiden on his cheeks, before facing his mother wi
