*Demarion's point of view*

I had unfortunately been stupid enough to let the enemy have me bound by chains, in a prison. The chains were soaked in wolfsbane, carefully measured so they would not kill me outrught, only weaken me.

He had done the same for my warriors, locked them up in the dungeons beneath what used to be their stronghold. Enough to drain their strength and break their pride. And their mates were kept far away enough to ensure the bond only intensified their suffering.

  • His Rejected Mate: Her Cold Hearted Alpha   Chapter 117

*Adele's point of view*I opened my mouth to ask what was wrong, but he spoke before I could."I almost lost you today," he said, his voice low but shaking. "It felt like you were about to be taken from me again… and this time, you wouldn’t come back."He stood and walked toward me, each step slow and dragged. When he reached me, his eyes locked onto mine. There was so much in them. Fear, pain, relief and so much more. It hit me all at once, strong enough to make my chest tighten. It was overwhelming, but at the same time, it was beautiful in a way I could not explain. Every emotion he carried was real, raw, and somehow all of it was tied to me."I’ve already lost too many people who meant everything to me," he continued softly. "I can’t lose you again. I won’t."Before I could respond, he closed the distance between us and kissed me again. This time, the kiss was stronger, filled with everything he had just said and everything he could not put into words. He pulled me close, and I wr

*Adele's point of view*I kept my eyes on Demarion. I didn’t dare look away.It felt like if I blinked, even for a second, he would vanish. And if he did, I would fall. I would follow Claire down to the rocks below. But he didn’t let go either. He held on. And with one strong pull, he dragged me up. My body scraped against the rough edge of the cliff, stones cutting into my skin and dirt pressing into every bruise. It hurt, but I didn’t care.I was alive. That was all that mattered. The moment I was fully on solid ground, he pulled me into his arms and I surrendered against him. A sob tore out of me before I could stop it. Then another. My body shook as everything I had been holding in rushed out at once. For a moment back there… I truly believed I was dead. I clung to him, my fingers gripping his shirt tightly as if letting go would send me back over the edge. Then slowly, my breathing steadied and the sobs eased. When I finally managed to calm down, I pulled back and turned toward C

*Adele's point of view*“Not that simple,” Claire replied, her voice light, almost playful. “You come closer. The moment I let her go, I take you. I am not giving you a chance to run.”I didn’t move.“How do I know you won’t slit her throat while you’re at it?” I asked.“You don’t,” she said without hesitation.Of course.I let out a quiet breath. So she was not completely reckless. She was thinking. That made this worse.“Why are you doing this?” I asked, my eyes fixed on her. “What is all this really about, Claire?”Her expression changed. The smile stayed, but her eyes burned now.“I don’t like you,” she snapped. “I don’t trust you. From the moment I met you, you act like you’re better than me. Everyone looks at you. Everyone listens to you. ‘Adele this, Adele that…’” Her grip tightened slightly. “I’m tired of it.”“What?” I frowned, genuinely confused. “How do I act like I’m better than you?”“I don’t know!” she shouted. “You just do. Now stop talking and come here… or I’ll cut he

*Adele's point of view*“Cindy, where are you?” I asked, my voice tight with panic as I rushed out the door. My feet barely touched the ground as I moved fast, while Kade and the others followed right behind me.“At the cliff,” she replied.“She’s at the cliff,” I repeated out loud so everyone could hear, not slowing down as we headed toward the forest.“Okay… are you alright?” I asked her quickly. “We’re already coming. Just hold on.”“No!” Cindy’s voice cut through sharply. “She said you have to come alone. She has a knife.”My steps stopped. Everything inside me went still.“What?” Kade asked immediately, his voice filled with urgency as he stepped closer. “What did she say?”Before I could answer him, Cindy’s voice came again, rushed and shaking. “Adele, please hurry. That girl is insane.”“What happened?” I asked, forcing myself to stay focused. “How did she even catch you?”“I went back to where I thought I dropped the bracelet,” Cindy explained, her words coming fast. “It wasn’

*Adele's point of view*One by one, everyone fell into place, returning to their groups without another argument. The energy was still tense, but at least it was controlled now.We headed back toward the castle. The walk felt shorter this time, maybe because no one dared to speak. The sound of footsteps filled the quiet, heavy against the ground. A few minutes later, we reached the castle yard.“Oh no… I lost it,” Cindy muttered suddenly.“What did you lose, babe?” Kade asked, his head turning quickly toward her.“My bracelet,” she said, her voice tight with worry. “I think it slipped out of my pocket.”“That could be anywhere,” Kade replied, placing his hands gently on her shoulders. “And it’s getting dark. We will look for it tomorrow.”“No,” Cindy said quickly, shaking her head. “I know where it is. I put it in my pocket when we entered the cliff clearing. I can find it.”Before Kade could stop her, she was already moving.“Does someone want to go with her?” Demarion asked, his voi

*Adele's point of view*I wore the outfit Demarion had picked out for me. It was a fitted blue top with thin white lines running across it, paired with blue jeans that hugged just right. The fabric felt soft against my skin, and for a moment I caught my reflection and tilted my head slightly. He really did not have bad taste. We met downstairs where Kade, Cindy, James, and Diana were already waiting. The air felt heavy, like something unseen was pressing down on all of us.Diana stood a little apart from the rest. She had not said a single word since everything happened. Her face had lost all color. It was pale and dull, like the life had been drained out of her. Her eyes looked distant, as if she was still trapped in whatever she had seen.No one spoke as we made our way back along the narrow path that led to the forest. Dry leaves crunched softly under our feet, the sound too loud in the silence. The deeper we went, the colder it felt. When we reached the clearing, they were already

*Adele's point of view* "How long do we have to wait for this signal?" I muttered impatiently."Just a few more seconds," James whispered, his eyes scanning the clearing ahead. And just as he said that, a figure walked toward the forest. He stopped only a few yards from where we were hidden. His b

*Adele's point of view* When Paul and I finally pulled into their driveway, the sky had already started dimming into evening shades. The soft porch light glowed like a welcome sign, and for the first time all day, my chest eased just a little.Home.Or at least, the closest thing to it.The car ha

*Demarion's point of view* Adele stood frozen in front of me.She did not move. She barely breathed. Her eyes stayed locked on mine, wide and unsure, like a cornered deer that did not know which way to run.The sight of her made my chest tighten.I hated it.I looked down at her and felt it again,

*Demarion's point of view* Adele came down the stairs, and the sound of her heels tapping against the steps reached my ears before I even saw her.I pulled back from Serena the moment I heard it.My eyes lifted. And there she was.Adele.For one second, the world slowed. Her body went rigid on the
