Chapter 3:

Alpha Sebastian.

Cruising back to the mansion, and making no stops for anyone, the streets were fierce and bloody as the pack members were being slaughtered by the lurking Rogues which were in hundreds of numbers.

Our warriors were fighting valiantly, but they were greatly outnumbered and outmatched by the Rogue's surprise attack.

"Oh my goddess, is this really happening?" Bianca clasped my hand tightly which was engaged in shifting gears.

"Yes, it is," I sped up, not giving a chance to the Rogues to leap onto our speeding car. "We need to get to my brother at the mansion," I said and Bianca peeled off her hand from mine.

"Why Sebastian? We are under attack and all you can think of is your selfish egotistical brother" She snapped with a scowl and I scoffed.

"Because he is my brother," I answered back making emphasis on the term 'brother.'

"Alpha Sebastian, please let's save ourselves and flee the village before it's too late," Bianca begged but it fell on deaf ears because there was no way was I going to leave without my brother.

You see, growing up with Damon was demanding at times because whenever Damon was feeling a certain kind of way, I felt it too. When he was wounded, I could feel his pain with intense pain or emotions. But Damon never felt my misery.

Mother and father had asked the great Oracle for answers but she could not give them any reasonable answers… and that only the moon goddess knew our intertwined destinies.

'Damon, where are you?' I darted around the bloody streets hoping he had gotten out in time as my spirit yearned to find him at all costs… It was a force so strong, I could not resist it.

The sounds of snarling and howling echoed through the village as the two opposite groups clashed. Teeth and claws ripped into fur and flesh, causing both sides to suffer greatly. Blood stained the ground, buildings, and trees, creating a ghastly tapestry of violence.

"Sebastian, please listen to me, let's get out of here now that we still have the chance to." Bianca whimpered.

"No," I snarled viciously baring my teeth. Never in a million years would I leave my little brother.

Yes, Damon was the younger one just by five minutes.

"Fine then leave me here… I don't have a death wish like you do." She said haughtily and I immediately stopped her Jeep.

If she wanted to die at the hands of Rogues, so be it.

Bianca got out of her car, transformed into her Gamma grey wolf, and ran off into the dark shadows of the buildings where echoes of screams were given attention to.

Well, there goes someone who claimed to like me, I scoffed then drove towards the mansion which looked bloody curdling but I had to brave on to find my brother…

Minutes later, I stopped at a safe distance and used the shadows to get closer to the surrounding mansion.

The Rogues were publicly executing my pack members, and I could not do anything but watch the gruesome scene.

'Damon, are you still in the mansion?' I mind-linked to him but there was no response.

I could sense he was petrified but where was he? I darted around the ghastly entrance and could not see him...

Please, goddess, spare the life of my brother, my shoulders sagged, my breathing slowing down even though my heart was racing.

'Brother, are you still alive?' I made yet another effort to mind link to him hoping he had gotten out safely.

And only the loud mind link cries from my pack members echoed in my mind.

'Alpha Jacob, help us please.'

'Luna Bella, help my children please.'

'Please someone help me.'...

I'm sorry everyone, but there is nothing I can do. I cringed my eyes shut while bowing my head, feeling triumphed over because I could not stand up to the beastly Rogues… How could the goddess make us Alpha heirs, when she hadn't allowed us to turn into our wolfs by now?

We were twenty-one for Christ's sake and couldn't assist our dying pack members.

I held back the tears that welled up in my eyes then suddenly, Damon responded.

'Sebastian, I'm at the east side of the mansion, where are you?.' he asked.

I felt a wave of relief wash over me as I glanced at the east side of the Manor, and it had fewer Rogues roaming there.

'I'm near the entrance of the mansion and Rogues are surrounding the place… stay there and I will find you.'

'Hurry bro, I can hear these fleabags on my trail.' Damon answered back hastily.

'Okay, stay put I will be there shortly ' I sprinted to him, flowing his strong scent, using the dark shadows of the night to my advantage until I got to the east side...

Well, I'm sure you are all wondering how my brother and I could use the mind link without our wolves. Well, for unknown reasons, we were born with the ability to mind-link even though we had not yet fully embraced our wolves…

Suddenly, I came to a stop in a secluded area where his scent was strong and musky 'Bro come out.' I called him and he got out with a crowbar clutched tightly in his hand.

"Are you okay?" I scanned his body for any injuries but there was none... Phew, I heaved a sigh of relief.

"Who is attacking the pack?" He asked with a scowl.

"Rogues," I silently gasped for air.

"But why now when mother and father are gone?" He furrowed his brows.

"I don't know but we can't stay here for long," I said because I feared for our safety.

"Go where?" Damon glanced around the dark bushes of the garden. " This is our home, let's go join in the fight," Damon suggested and I frowned.

How dare he say that when his stupid party caused everything?

"No, Damon, we can't do that… how do you expect us to fight back a pack of fully grown Rogues?" I interjected in a husky low voice.

"So you want us to run Sebastian?" he took a step closer to me and I could see veins bulging in his neck because he had tied his dark shoulder-length hair in a low ponytail.

"Yes, that's what Mother and Father said, remember. There is no shame in doing so." I declared because this was no time to act on emotions.

As Alpha heirs, our powers were not yet fully activated to their full ability because of the pending shift to our true forms, hence Mother and Father had warned us of such a day if we had not yet shifted.

We run, as far as possible because the continuation of our bloodline greatly depended on us.

"So you just want us to leave and pretend as if everything is fine." Damon sneered.

"Yes, besides this is your fault the Rogues attacked us." I stepped closer to his face and I could feel my jaws involuntarily clenching

"How?" he gritted his teeth in my face and I scoffed at his empty threats which meant nothing.

Damon did not scare me. He and I were considered hounds without teeth because of the pending transition.

"You've led to the demise of our pack members. What will Pa and Ma say? Did you think about what you were doing when inviting strangers into the house ?," I snapped angrily because I had it with Damon's antics.

"Wow, so you're telling me I'm to blame for all the bloodshed?" Damon looked me dead in the eyes and I was not intimidated by him.

"Yes, every death tonight is your fault." I huffed and puffed.

"You are such a goody two shoes for nothing... minutes ago you were enjoying yourself with Bianca because of this very party, and now you put all the blame on me?" Damon slowly stepped back, his chest visibly moving up and down as he gasped for air…

I narrowed my eyes at him and wanted to punch his face so badly but now was not the time.

Hence I retreated in my footsteps too and darted at the only escape route from the pack.

"Let's get out of this place now." I snarled silently, not bothering to peek back at Damon who did not respond to my utterance.

Silence and tension between us was palpable and the loud cries of our pack members were even louder.

With mother and father away, the Rogues were self-proclaimed winners of the gruesome attack even if the warriors had to try their best.

I glanced at Damon, who had caused all this catastrophe, and sighed heavily…

If only he hadn't thrown such an elaborate party, the Rogues would not have known that the pack was unprotected by father and mother.

I began strolling in the other direction and Damon followed at a good distance.

Suddenly, loud snarls and tracks followed frantically, and I knew it was just a matter of time before the Rogues caught up to us, hence I began jogging…whilst Damon was close on my trail.

How I wish I could call mother and father but we had no cell phone with us and the mind link was useless because they were far beyond the boundaries of the pack…

Finally, after hours of running, we reached the edge of Romania. Panting and injured feet, we looked back at what we once called home with tears in our eyes.

How could fellow wolves kill their kind in such a gruesome manner even if they did not belong to our pack?

With a heavy heart, I knew we had no choice but to leave our home behind until the situation cooled down and start anew elsewhere. We turned and began to run again, our feet pounding against the earth as we left the only life we had ever known behind.
