Liora

I stumbled out of the hospital room, my chest tight, my head so full it felt like it might split open. Everything inside me was a mess, anger, disbelief, fear, twisting together until I couldn’t even tell them apart anymore.

I didn’t want to hear another word from Tristan. Not one. Because whatever he was saying… it wasn’t making sense. None of this made sense.

And yet… the thing I saw, his face, my dad’s signature, it was too clear to be fake. No one could forge that. Not like that.

I hated that Tristan was right about one thing. I didn’t want to believe Dad could do any of those things. I couldn’t.

The bright lights in the reception stung my eyes, and before I could get far, Dante stepped right into my path.

“Mrs. Cole, why the hurry? Is everything alright in there?”

“I…” My throat felt tight. “I just need to get out of here.”

His brows knit together. “Did the boss say something? You don’t look fine.”

“I’m fine,” I lied, shaking my head quickly. “I just need air.”

He glanced t

Liora“I’m sorry,” I whispered. It felt strange, almost wrong, letting those words leave my mouth. I never thought I’d say them to him, not after everything. But standing here now, looking at him, I knew I couldn’t hold them back anymore.Because no matter how much I tried to fight it, I couldn’t deny the truth. had seen it with my own eyes, the document Dad had kept, the one that held the original ownership of FYS.I know that I still need to talk to Florence about this, even if she doesn’t want to hear me. And Caleb… even if he doesn’t want to see me either.“You don’t have to say sorry… it was never your fault,” he said softly. But somehow, those words only made my chest tighten more. Because all I could think of was, Is this what it’s always been like for him? Carrying everything alone? Has he always been this kind, even when I convinced myself he wasn’t?“You should hate me,” I whispered, shaking my head. “Not… not tell me not to say sorry.”“Yes, I should,” he answered without h

Tristan “I think I'll go and check on David.” Dante said, excusing himself before I asked him to do it. After he's gone, Liora walked to the bed and then sat at the lower edge of the bed, so I could no longer read her expression. “So the woman is your mother.” She said after what seemed like a minute.“Was.” I corrected. She hummed in response and said, “Can I see her?” “Why?” I asked in a low voice. She didn’t answer right away. Her hands rested flat against the edge of the bed, her fingers tightening slightly, then loosening again.“Because I want to know,” she said finally.I shifted against the pillows, “Seeing her won’t change what she’s done, Liora. It won’t even make it easier.”Her head tilted, still turned away from me. “Maybe not.”For a moment, I couldn’t breathe. She didn’t understand, I didn’t want her to. The things my mother left behind weren’t scars that healed; they were rot that spread the more you looked at them.“Liora…” I let her name slip out, a warning, a p

Tristan Dante rushed into the room, his eyes coming directly to where I was on the hospital bed before sighing in relief as though a great burden had been lifted off him.“Did you see Liora?” I asked him“She ran out not long ago.” He answered, coming closer to the bed. I leaned back against the pillows, letting out a slow exhale. My chest felt tight, uncomfortably so. “And you just let her go?”“She didn’t want to be stopped,” he said simply, but there was a hint of guilt in his voice. “Besides, if I’d tried, I think she would’ve bitten my head off right there.”No doubt about that.I rubbed the bridge of my nose. This wasn’t good. Liora running meant her head was spinning, and when her head spun, she never slowed down until she hit something hard. But maybe that's exactly what she needs. So,I hummed in response, shifting a little to the left to adjust my sleeping position as I shut my eyes. He remained there, not once walking away like I thought he would, until eventually I open

  • His Reluctant Bride: Contracted To My Enemy    A monster

Tristan End of flashback. When I looked up, Liora was standing there in the hospital room, her eyes fixed on me like she was trying to read my mind. She was waiting for me to talk… but I didn’t even know where to start.Because how do you decide which part of your life you can tell without breaking someone? The truth is, some truths aren’t meant to be shared. They’re meant to be buried deep, so deep that no one ever finds them. Sometimes it’s kinder to let a person live in the dark than hand them a truth that will destroy them. “Start talking now,” she said again, sharper this time, snapping her fingers in front of me like she could pull me out of my head.I glanced toward the door, almost praying a nurse would walk in, interrupt her, give me a reason to escape this. But the hallway stayed empty. No one was coming to save whatever I had to say.“I was Deimos,” I said finally. My voice came out slower than I intended. “But now… I’m Tristan.” I said as a matter of fact “Yeah?” she sa

Tristan I stayed by the doorway, behind the potted plants, not sure if I should step in or just go back outside to wait for dad.“I have no choice, alright? And if you’ll just listen to me, ” the man's voice came from inside, shaky, like he already knew it wouldn’t change anything.“Explain exactly what?” Mom didn’t even let him finish. “Answer me, what exactly do you want to explain!?”She was pacing, back and forth, back and forth, like she was trying to make sense of something in her head but couldn’t get there. Her hands wouldn’t stay still.“It was a plain accident… I don’t know… I just--” Nat tried, but his voice kept tripping over itself. She looked at him like she couldn’t believe he was even standing there. Then she just snapped.“Of course you wouldn’t know! Of course you wouldn’t know how she ended up on the bed and you were moaning her name! Of course you wouldn’t!”She pressed her hand to her face, breathing hard, like she was trying to pull herself together. He reached
