My hand trembled badly, and the tray threatened to fall, spilling its contents, but I tightened my grip on it. Ethan was smiling and laughing with Hannah. He looked happy, happier than he ever was with me. He was able to bring her to a restaurant and have lunch with her openly, whereas he had to hide me for four years. I took deep breaths and put on a smile as I walked up to them. “The food you ordered,” I said and placed the dishes on the table. Hannah was very beautiful; her skin glowed brightly, enhancing how stunning she looked. It’s no surprise Ethan chose her over me. “I didn’t order crabs,” I heard Hannah’s voice, and I turned toward her, trying my best not to look at Ethan, who had visibly stiffened when he saw me. “I was asked to serve this. I had no idea you didn’t order it,” I said politely, but Hannah looked mad. “I’m allergic to crabs! Why would I ask for it?” Hannah’s voice was getting sharper, and I didn’t know what to do. I’m honestly not about to get disgraced by my ex-boyfriend’s fiancée. “I’m sorry, ma’am. I’ll take it back,” I said through my teeth. I just wanted to serve the food and leave, but now this. “Is something wrong?” a voice said behind me, and I stiffened. Damn it. Of all days, the manager had to walk in now. “She served me crabs, which I didn’t order,” Hannah reported. She looked at me disgustedly, like she couldn’t stand the sight of me, and I swallowed the lump in my throat. “I didn’t know-” I tried to speak. “Are you really talking back?” Hannah asked with a frown. “Apologize to Mrs. Sanders. How dare you talk back?” the manager yelled at me. I bit my lip hard, I didn’t want to apologize to her. “I’m sorry,” I managed, because I really didn’t want to lose my job. I needed this job to pay my damn bills. “We’re sorry, ma’am. We’ll train the staff properly,” the manager apologized and signaled for me to leave. I walked away from them, not without taking the plate of crabs with me. All this while, Ethan was quiet. He didn’t say anything to defend me when it was obviously not my fault. It’s really over between us. I wasn’t the one who took their order, but I was the one who got yelled at. “I’m really sorry, Lana. I accidentally placed the crabs for table three on their tray,” Jake apologized, but I really wasn’t in the mood to talk. I nodded and walked past him to the bathroom to stifle my tears. My lips trembled, and I pressed them together hard. “You won’t cry for a jerk, Lana,” I said to myself and took deep breaths. Hannah Sanders is a real bitch. --- By the time I got home, I was already about to fall. I hadn’t eaten anything except the donut I bought during lunchtime. I think I’m weak mostly because I ate so little today, but what choice do I have? I need to save up for rent. “Beatrice?” I called as I walked into the living room of my apartment. When I got no reply, I knew she hadn’t gotten back from school. Beatrice is a law student at a university in Los Angeles. She’ll be graduating soon, and I have no doubt she’ll ace her bar exam. I checked my phone for the time, it was almost 7 p.m. That’s quite weird. Beatrice always comes back from school before 6 p.m. I’m a little worried, but I just hope she gets back soon, or else I’ll be marching into that university. Just as I was about to make dinner, I heard the door open and Beatrice walked in. “Welcome!” I screamed from the kitchen, but she didn’t answer. I frowned, watching her go into the bedroom, my concern deepening. Didn’t she hear me? I believe I was loud enough for her to hear. I finished making dinner and set the table, but Beatrice still hadn’t come out, which made me really worried. I was about to go get her when I heard a knock on the door. I opened it to see Mrs. Shaw. “Good evening, ma’am,” I said with a smile. “Hi, pretty,” I waved at adorable Lily, who would be seven in two weeks. “Hi, Aunt Lana,” her cute and soft voice replied. “I have a night shift today. Would you please watch Lily for me?” Mrs. Shaw asked politely. “No problem,” I said excitedly. This wasn’t the first time she’d asked me to watch over Lily, and I enjoyed the little girl’s company, so I always agreed. Mrs. Katelyn Shaw is a widow. Her husband died five years ago, and she’s been taking care of Lily all by herself. She’s a nurse. “Thank you so much, Lana. You’re a lifesaver,” Katelyn thanked me, and Lily ran into the house while I chuckled lightly. “Be good for your Aunt Lana!” Katelyn yelled after her daughter, who got comfortable on the couch, and I chuckled again. “I’ll be back in the morning,” Katelyn informed me. “Good night, Lana,” she waved. “Good night, Katelyn,” I waved back and shut the door. I turned toward Lily, who gave me a bright smile, showing her perfect little teeth. “I made dinner, Lily. Are you hungry?” I asked the little girl. “Yes!!” she said excitedly, and I couldn’t help the smile that formed on my face. “I’ll go get Aunt Beatrice, and then we’ll eat,” I assured her, and she nodded eagerly. I walked toward the bedroom. “Trixie?” I called, but she wasn’t there. “Trixie?” I called again, but nothing. I heard faint sniffling and frowned. The noise was coming from the bathroom, so I walked toward it. I pressed my ear against the door and heard her crying. My younger sister was crying in the bathroom. What the actual hell?Lana"I told him I would consider it," I replied, my voice low, and Karl's eyes darkened."Consider it?" he asked, and I nodded."Yes, I mean he has been in love with me for 3 years. I should at least give him a chance—"Karl didn't even let me finish speaking before he pressed his lips to mine.I moved my hands around his neck, back, and hair, not quite sure where to place my fingers as he kissed me passionately. He was jealous. It's evident in the way he kissed me, and I loved every second of it.Karl pulled away from the kiss, and I groaned in displeasure. He let out a soft chuckle."That impatient, huh?" he asked me. "You should have thought of that before speaking about Mr. Nobody," he spoke, an edge in his voice, and I shivered a little. "You're going to beg me to make you cum, love," he whispered in my ear, and I bit the inside of my mouth. My pussy grew wetter than it already was. Lust sprang through me, and I could tell it was visible in my eyes.I shouldn't be feeling like t
Lana Cole looked at me like he wasn't sure if he should speak or not. I should have been extremely suspicious of Cole, but he didn’t seem like anything for the past three years I've known him. He was just a guy who had a crush on me, but now, knowing that he knows my mother changes everything. Was he the one who truly staged my kidnapping? Karl was right, I should have requested to see his phone back at the restaurant. “Lana I care for you, and you know that,” Cole started. “That wasn't what I asked. Why bring my mother into this?” I asked him again. “Because I know the Moretti family was behind your mother's death,” Cole said, walking closer to me. “How do you know that? What connections do you have with the Moretti family? With my mother?” I asked him. “that's not important,” Cole replied. “Why? Why isn't it important?” I asked him again. Could it be that Cole was the one who sent me that message about my mother being involved with the Moretti family? “Lana, stay away f
Dear readers, updates may be delayed for a little while due to personal reasons. I would be going on a short hiatus. My other novel, The Billonaire's Unwilling Bride, would continue with a steady update, but this would be on hold for the main time. Thank you so much for your patience and support. — Jade RuNyx
Lana “I swear, I have no idea who she is or what she is doing here,” Karl said behind me, but I didn't stop to look at him. I like the fact that he is putting in the effort to explain to me, I really want to know who she was and what she was doing in his house. How did she even know here he stays? “you don't need to explain,” I replied, feigning ignorance as I walked into the kitchen, and Karl followed behind me. “I do, I know you want an explanation even though you're not ready to admit it,” He told me, walking closer to me. “Didn't you say you have a meeting by 8 a.m? You'd be late,” I reminded him, completely ignoring his statement. Karl grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him. It was so unexpected that I ended up crashing on his hard chest. My eyes met his, and he smirked. “Love, jealousy doesn't look good on you, but I love it anyway,” he said and brought his face closer to mine. “There’s no need for you to be jealous, I don't even know her name,” Karl chuckled l
KarlLana pulled me up by the collar, and my knee left the ground as I tower over her, deepening the kiss.My tongue brushed over hers, and damn she tastes fuçking intoxicating, she pulled me closer to her, and fuçk If this is the way she kisses me, I won't survive it if this goes on.I nibble at her lips slowly as I sit beside her on the couch, our lips almost pulling apart, but she straddles me on the couch, taking me by suprise.I didn't even give myself the time to reason. All I can think about is the taste of her lips and the feel of her against me.My hands found their ways to her hip bone, pulling her closer to me, and she wrapped her hands around my neck.My cock which was right below her ass hardened and I know she felt it, I pulled away slowly and rested my head against hers, we both try to catch our breath.“You taste fuçking divine, and I am simply a mere mortal to resist,” I tell her truthfully, my voice hoarse.“I already told you to stop saying things like that,” she sm
KarlI knew this day would come sooner or later, Lana would definitely question me about Ethan, but I didn't expect Ethan to go to her. That useless idiot.I can't believe he frightened her so much she was crying, refusing to go home, drenched in the rain.“You were behind what happened to his family, right?” Lana said to me and wondered if I should tell her or not.I'm pretty sure she had figured it all out. there's no need to lie. “Yes,” I admitted, and she sighed.“Why?” She asked me.“Isn't it obvious? He's an asshole and he hurt you, i can't just turn a blind eye. You know that,” I told her plainly.Lana stared at me with that same look again, the one I can't really understand.“You did it for me?” She asked.“Yes, why would I bother myself with someone like him if it weren't for you, if it were up to me, you wouldn't even get to see him ever again,” I replied and immediately regretted my words.Fuck, I just implied that I wanted him dead, the look on Lana's face told me everythi
LanaI turned and I met Karl, standing not too far from me. “I told you to wait in the car," I walked towards him.“And you expect me to?” Karl asked.“Isn't that why instructions are given?” I snapped.“He is lying,” Karl said, and I blinked. There's no way Karl heard our conversation except... h
Karl Lana looked like she didn't know what to say. What did those bastards tell her?I have always been worried about this exact thing, I have been afraid of drawing her into my world because it's not a place for someone like her.I didn't expect my fears to haunt me so fast, I can still remember
LanaWhy is he here?He shouldn’t be here right now.My eyes met with Karl's empty ones, and i pressed my lips together.Stella stood beside me, and Karl's eyes went to her.“Didn't you hear what I said?” He raised an eyebrow, clearly displeased.Stella couldn't move. I could feel her visibly stiff
