The lunch continued quietly.

But then my mother decided to make it uncomfortable again, in the way only she knew how.

“Kyle is also an oncologist,” my mother announced proudly.

“Oncologist?” I asked, even more curious now.

Looks were clearly deceiving; I never would have pegged Kyle as a doctor.

“That means he is a doctor who treats cancer,” she explained, with a look and tone suggesting my limited education made it difficult for me to understand big words.

If you have made it this far into this story, THANK YOU!!! This one has been a fun one to write, in part because the story wants to be told. :) We are getting much closer to where the book started in the prologue, and that means some big reveals are on their way. Understood and I’m sorry you aren’t enjoying the story! There is a method to my madness but I get that my style isn’t for everyone. I will see if I can speed things up a touch. The big reveals are around the corner regardless.

Given your feedback, I will play around with a version that skips them. I will do it if I can find a way to do it without ruining the story.

I’m sorry you aren’t enjoying the story! These chapters are important, but I promise we are closer to the major reveals than it seems. My original plan was to do a couple more foundation chapters and then do a fast forward that starts the “major reveal” section of the story.
