North’s POV

The morning sunlight filtering through the curtains was soft, golden and unforgiving.

I blinked slowly, my body aching in all the right ways. My skin still held the memory of his hands, his mouth and his weight pressing me into the bed like he couldn’t get close enough.

I turned slightly and found the other half of the bed empty, but the place where his body had lain was still warm.

His scent still clung to the sheets. That deep, masculine, cedar-and-smoke scent that always seemed to drive me crazy.

I stretched lazily, the sheet slipping down my body and revealing my bare skin.

We had sex, me and Finn; we fucking broke the rules last night not once, not twice. But again and again until my body gave out and I collapsed on top of him, trembling and spent.

And the worst part? I didn’t regret a damn second of it.

I should’ve, I should’ve been horrified, panicking and already shoving it down as some huge mistake but I didn’t and for some damn reason, I still wanted him despite

North's POVA few minutes later, I was walking Liam to the reception. The awkwardness between us had melted slightly and the tension had been replaced with a strange calm. His apology still echoed in my mind. Part of me wanted to believe it, another part still questioned everything. Trust didn’t come easy anymore, not with him. When we got to the reception room, I halted and then turned around to face him, folding my hands in front of me.“Thanks for stopping by,” I said. He gave a tight-lipped smile, shoving his hands into his pockets. “I meant what I said, I’m sorry for everything.”I didn’t answer because I didn’t need to. I had forgiven him, yes, but that didn’t mean I had forgotten.Just when I was going to say something else, the door flung open and time froze.Finn walked in, his tall frame casting a long shadow across the polished floor. His eyes locked onto mine, then immediately dropped to Liam who was standing beside me.There was a beat of silence, one that screamed l

North’s POVThe scent of vanilla and melted chocolate filled the kitchen as I leaned over the counter. I was grinning at the slightly uneven swirl of cream from my latest creation. It's been a while since I came up with something nice so I was elated.“Finally, it's ready." Kora chirped, raising her head from the measuring cups she has been obsessing about. “This one’s different,” I said, holding the spatula in one hand and my phone in the other. Facing the girls, I said, “It’s a mix of burnt caramel and lemon zest. The idea hit me in the shower last night.” I chuckled at the thought. Last night was chaotic for me until this little idea dropped in. It was what lured me to sleep.Kora raised an eyebrow, she was going to speak but suddenly, she pursed her lips only to part it again. “You don't have to." I groaned under my breath. “Burnt caramel and lemon zest? Are you trying to start a war in people’s mouths or what?” She ratted out. Amelia chuckled from the sink, “Knowing North,

Finn’s POVWincing, I shot my eyes open only to snap it shut almost immediately as my hands slowly moved up to my head.I had woken up with the kind of headache that made me question every decision I had made in the last twenty-four hours.Starting with that damn half glass of tequila and ending with collapsing on the woman I was pretending not to love just because she wanted it to stay that way.Everything felt heavy, my limbs, my chest, and my thoughts. It was like my body was trying to punish me for letting my emotions get the best of me, for letting Liam’s words sink their claws right into my heart. Still holding my head, I blinked slowly as I tried to sit up. Thanks to the window blinds that were pulled down, else, I would have died several times already. My throat was dry and my brain was foggy but it only took a second for the blur to clear enough for me to realize that I was in the living room and also, the figure standing across the room had her arms folded tightly across

North’s POV“Finn." I called for the hundredth time in a minute, tapping his shoulder but he didn't respond. His silence was driving me crazy and I was crumbling on the inside with each passing second. My hands shook as I tried to steady Finn’s head against my shoulder. His body felt heavier with every breath, like he was sinking into me and pulling me under with him. My heart beat from the fear that was trying to eat me up was so loud that it echoed in my ears. “Finn,” I called again, nudging his cheek, but as before, he didn’t respond. He was giving me a shallow breath which was soft and irregular.Still trying to wrap my head around what was happening, the door flung open, startling me.“North!” It was the unmistakable voice of Raiden. His eyes were wide but they narrowed the moment he saw Finn sprawled on me like a rag doll. I expected him to panic like I was already doing, but he didn’t. Instead, he groaned and walked toward us casually.“What happened?” I asked frantically.

North’s POV“Fix the last table," I said to Amelia while I moved the last set of cutlery to the fifth table. It was finally D-Day for Isla and Caleb’s engagement party. It was my first event I was planning and I had promised to give my best and that was exactly what I was going to do with the help of Kora, Amelia and Eliza. After taking one last look at the perfect work of the girls, I stood beside the podium to make sure I wasn't missing anything. “Here," Kora passed me a glass of juice which I gulped down at once.“I never knew you were thirsty." She mumbled, offering me her glass but I refused. “I'm okay." “Are you certain?" She asked, staring at me like she could read through my thoughts. We were heading back to the kitchen when she nudged my side slightly. “Uhm…” "Finn, did you tell him about the event?” She asked, making me halt. In practiced motion, I turned around to face her."Why should I involve him in my affair?" "What's up with the questions?” She huffed. "If you

Finn’s POVThe moment the alarm went off, I let out a low sigh as I threw my feet off the bed. I wasn't going to work today, instead, I was going to be on the next plane heading to Washington to meet with dad. The call from last night was from him. He didn't sound as if something was wrong but he asked me to return home, saying it was urgent.I tried all I could to talk him into telling me what he wanted on the phone but he insisted he was going to tell me in person. Ten minutes was more than enough for me to get dressed and when I was done, I went down stairs. North was already in the kitchen at that time as the whiff of bacon greeted me when I got to the base of the stairs and it made my mouth water.Checking my wristwatch, I let out a low sigh before heading towards the kitchen to inform her of my destination.“Hey," I greeted, leaning against the counter.“Are you leaving already?" She sounded alarmed as she swirled around to face me. "I had no idea you were going to leave thi
