Before noon, Patrick Connor strolled over to see his friend. He hadn't been answering his phone that morning hence he decided to see him after lunch.
He got into the Lester conglomerate and Adrian had gone for a meeting. Clem told him that his friend will be through soon and he could feel relaxed in his office. Patrick Connor agreed and waited. It wasn't quite ten minutes later, Adrian Lester walked in with hooded eyes. His secretary stepped in after him and carefully placed his computer on his desk. His gaze was stone cold and he seemed to be unhappy. Patrick Connor had long gotten used to his friend's temperament. He just stared at him calmly. Adrian Lester is an arrogant dude who believes things should be the way he wants it. He doesn't expect anything less from an only child who was raised with all love and affluence. He'd always gotten what he wanted all his life. His parents dotes on him and his mom practically worships him. Why wouldn't he live that way? But then, he is the one of the kindest people he'd ever met. Adrian has a good heart and knows how to love. If he picks interest in a person, he would ensure that the person radiates the aura of love and happiness. “This is the second time I'm losing a multimillion dollar contract. And it's all grandfather's fault. He ruined my mood and everything went on getting ruined today…” Adrian seethed. He already told his family about the contract and now, how can he inform them that a rival company got it instead of him? “How?” Patrick Connor asked, sitting upright and staring at his friend. He hopes he's not talking about the Mayor's group partnership? “I honestly cannot say exactly. I received an email that they regret to inform me that they are not going ahead with the partnership…” Adrian explained, hissing between gritted teeth and settling down into his swivel chair. Patrick Connor was unhappy. Lester conglomerate used to be the largest conglomerate in New Jersey. If it continues like this, wouldn't they be losing their position and power? “And it is to that bastard Sabastian Walker. How can I lose to him? Can you imagine that?” Adrian fumed in disapproval. Somehow he feels that bastard was trailing him and tries to sabotage his work. It happened two years ago and now, it repeated itself. What the heck is going on? How can he lose to him, he would pursue that contract again and see if he can snatch it off him. He was still thinking about that when Clem walked in and told him that his grandfather had prepared an anniversary date for him and Ava Leon. “Get out!” Adrian Lester thundered and Clem bowed slightly and stepped out. Well, he's just doing his job. His grandfather wants him to deliver a message to him, and he just did. “That's where the whole hassle came from. That miserable marriage that was forced down my throat. I will spit it out. In Fact, I am working towards it already…” Adrian Lester declared. “Thread gently, Adrian. You might fall in love with Ava later” Patrick coaxed. He had known about this whole marriage thing for a long time and he wished it would turn out better for him and Ava eventually. “I don't love her. I only want Lola” Adrian declared, writing down some things and sending it to his secretary to take action on it. “For two years now, I haven't fallen in love with her. There can never be a chance for that besides, Lola is back and I am going legal with her this time” Adrian informed. “What do you mean Legal? What about Ava Leon?” Patrick Connor asked in haste. This marriage wasn't Ava’s fault either. He shouldn't make her suffer more than she already does. “I don't know anything about that woman. You can ask my grandfather if you need answers to your questions” Adrian snapped at him. Patrick Connor was quiet. He has this feeling that Adrian will not be available to have a date with Ava. He doesn't regard her at all. Few hours later, Ava Leon sat before the vanity mirror and glanced at the woman staring back at her. This cannot be her, right? But she equally knows that's none else but herself. She looks splendid and sweet. Grandfather had arranged for her in a saloon and had the chauffeur drive her there. A stylist made her hair. A make-up artist saw that her makeup was done perfectly and she wore a hundreds of dollars worth of dinner gown. As she stood up, it seemed to her that she is a different woman from the Ava Leon that she used to be. It remained fifteen minutes to the dinner time and the chauffeur would drop her off and return to the mansion. The rest of the evening and returning home, was going to be Adrian's duty. She hopes he will spare her a glance this time. She glanced at her off shoulder dress and liked it. She might not be a high class lady but just for the night, he should take her as one because of her dress. Ava Leon arrived there as instructed by grandfather and it was a place prepared for them indeed. It's an open park, decorated for that singular purpose. Not far away was a beach and the noise of birds chirping were heard, a perfect place for lovers to have fun and feel good. A table for two was set up and filled with varieties of drinks and snacks. The place was lit up temporarily and the collection of rose flowers were placed in a vase and kept next to the table. A sight that brings a tingle of love. Ava smiled and waited. She hopes he comes. That he would see the surroundings of it and for once, spare her a glance. Ava Leon was waiting for Adrian to meet with her while the latter was engrossed in a passionate kiss with Lola in a five star restaurant…Jimmy's action pacified the entire family but not Simon Blake. This girl called him by his full name and that's a humiliation on its own. How can she be so disrespectful? “You talk to father that way, you called him by his full name and rebuffed his final decision on your stupidity? How dare you humiliate my father this way?”Jimmy declared. Without another word, he pulled Magda by her wrist and took her into the bedroom. He shut the door and bolted it from within and forced her against the wall painfully? “You suddenly became senseless because you are pregnant. You're not the first person to be pregnant in this family but your pregnancy has succeeded in turning you into a maniac. He pressed himself against her to the wall and pinned her chin with his fingers, making her completely powerless and unable to resist him. “I didn't force the pregnancy on you, I didn't rape you either. We made love, we were happy doing it,it pleased us both, we got satisfied and the
Adrian stood up quickly, he was going to look for her. He searched around and she'd left indeed. He dialed her cell phone but it was switched off. He sighed softly and decided he would talk to her by morning. He sighted Patrick seeing Amanda off. He waited until the latter drove off and went to meet Patrick. He saw his face glow with excitement and he smirked. “You've got yourself a new girlfriend eventually” Adrian stuttered, sounding sarcastic. He didn't expect that suddenly a woman had bonded with him and it's at grandfather's candle night. “She's a friend. Not a girlfriend in the context of your thoughts” Patrick snapped at him. What's wrong if he's been accompanied by a woman? “Whatever. It only surprises me that she sprouted out of nowhere to be by your side. And you obviously forgot that Jessica was here to keep you company at your grandfather's death…” Adrian was saying when Patrick interrupted him. “Shut it Adrian!” Patrick bellowed, his gaze unfrie
Patrick glanced at Adrian casually and looked away. No one gets really close to his mom and wouldn't fall in love with her. Maybe it's her charisma or it's simply magical. If Adrian of all people could start loving her, it only means that his mom would be on par with angels soon. Because hardly can anyone not love angels. “Luna is an amazing woman. She'd been here often these few days to check up on Father. And last night, she decided to stay up all night by his bedside when she saw his critical condition…” Richard stuttered. The women were busy, instructing the maids and supervising them. Things need to be put in order and a real touch of perfection is all they require. “Aunt Luna, we could just sit and watch. Hasn't the entire decoration been contracted out to a company already?” Aurora urged. The decorations of the mansion have been really given out to a company, now they just needed to await the beautiful work of art that would be done. Jessica kn
She'd stayed up all night by his bedside to administer his medication according to the hourly prescription. She stayed there along with his nurse. But at midnight, father opened his eyes weakly and said “You're the one here Luna?” He'd asked. Initially she'd wondered why he used those words. But then, she soon understood what he meant. “All these years, I'd always thought Anna will be by my bedside when I die,but she'd gone before me and here you are, in her place” Those were the last words of father to her. Luna sniffled and stood by the sidelines, beside her was Richard. They all were broken and for a while none could console the other. But there was something else that father said and Luna couldn't say it out loud. She'll keep it in her heart in order for her not to act selfishly. “The ambulance is waiting outside. Father's remains must be taken to the morgue” Richard informed. He would be taken there while they made preparations for his funeral.
It wasn't only Aurora who appeared to be sobbing,Clara Leon looked away hiding her tears. She pulled her hands off Aurora's grip and fetched a tissue paper. She stretched her hand and offered Aurora one and she took it, cleaning her tears too. Adrian knew both of them were sobbing, not for pains or sorrow, but for being pleased with him. He didn't mind their silent sob, he continued: “When grandfather insisted that I should marry your daughter, I thought he was being old fashioned, not considerate nor did he know the feelings of the heart. I thought I knew better but I was a fool. Grandfather was offering me my life saver and I didn't realize it. He was insisting that I hold onto an asset of an inestimable price, but I was mad at his dictates. That made me swear to never have anything to do with your daughter. I vowed to make her miserable and I swear, I did just that. But I was privileged to be given a second chance. It was late when I realised that I had hurt a
Lena hurried into the office and saw the frosty gaze of her boss, glaring at her furiously. What had she done to make him feel so furious with her? “How did this trash get in here?” He demanded, his index finger pointing to the beautiful flowers that had found itself in the trash can. “Miss Jessica brought it for you and since you're both acquaintances, I let her drop it on your desk…” Lena was explaining when Patrick yelled at her. “Do I look like I am an acquaintance of Jessica? How dare you allow that woman into my office?” His tone was filled with contempt for the one who brought the flowers. Lena couldn't find her voice to answer Patrick Connor. She saw them both together the previous day and even went to lunch together. They're not lovers but they really get together. “I'm sorry sir” Lena apologised. She didn't expect that from yesterday to that morning, their closeness had become history. Something has gone wrong and she was wondering too, why woul
