“All right, guys, stop it!” I said sharply, stepping between them before the confrontation could escalate.

My palms were cold, but I forced myself to stand firm. The air was thick, charged with the kind of silence that hums before a storm.

“I wasn’t doing anything to her,” Damion said, his tone sharp, his hands raised in mock surrender. The faint smirk on his lips didn’t help.

Ashton remained silent. His eyes, dark and unreadable, burned into Damion. I could almost hear the unspoken threats in that look.

“We were just talking, Ashton,” I said quickly, trying to defuse the storm gathering behind his calm. “There’s nothing going on.”

“Really?” Ashton said at last, his voice low and hard, “Not from the point I was looking from.”

The way he said it sent a shiver down my spine. Then he turned to Damion, his expression hardening even more. “She’s mine. So stay away.”

Before I could protest, Ashton’s hand closed around my wrist firm, possessive and he pulled me out of the hall. I caught a gl

The noise outside the door tore me from the edge of unconsciousness like a blade ripping through cloth. At first, it was distant muffled voices echoing through thick stone walls but slowly, painfully, the sounds sharpened. Boots shuffled across the damp floor. A raised voice snapped in irritation, sharp enough to slice through the fog in my head. I stirred, my body aching in protest. Every muscle felt heavy, sluggish, as if I had been dragged through fire and then left to freeze. My eyes fluttered open, blinking against the dim light seeping in through the narrow bars high above the dungeon wall. The air was cold, damp, and stale, carrying the bitter scent of rust and old blood. The cold has seeped into my bones from the damp floor beneath me. I groaned softly and forced myself upright, chains clinking faintly as I pushed myself up. Still, pain bloomed instantly, sharp and deep, coiling around my lower abdomen and ribs. I gasped, clutching my side, forcing myself not to cry out

My head reeled from the impact of the slap. A sharp sting blooming across my cheek, followed by a wave of dizziness that made the room blur. For a few seconds, all I could hear was the distant echo of my own heartbeat thudding in my ears. I sat there, stunned, on the cold stone floor of the dungeon, trying to gather my thoughts as my cheek pulsed with heat. “A trickster!” he had called me. The word echoed inside my mind like a foreign accusation. Trickster? Why would he say that? My thoughts scrambled, trying to latch onto some meaning, some explanation, but nothing made sense. Had I done something wrong? Has someone lied about me? Why did that single word feel like a death sentence? Slowly, I lifted my gaze as Ashton crouched in front of me, his face shadowed by the dim torchlight flickering against the rough walls. But the man looking back at me wasn’t the Ashton I recognized. He was not the one who once healed my wounds, not the one who had carried me when I was too weak t

REENA'S POVI shivered, feeling cold all over my body. Confusion clouded my mind, and fragments of memories began to surface like bubbles in a murky pond. A wedding ceremony, the sharp sting of a bite mark on my neck, and the sound of a crowd cheering echoed in my thoughts. Suddenly, my eyes flew open, and I was met with darkness. Where the hell am I? Panic surged through me as I searched my surroundings. The air was damp and heavy, and I could see nothing but shadows. A sliver of pale light struggled through a small window in the room, illuminating the cold, hard floor beneath me. I forced myself upright, every muscle screaming in protest. My body ached, no, burned as if I’d been dragged across gravel.I looked down at my wrists and gasped. Chains bound me to the wall, their cold metal biting into my skin. I tugged at them, but they held me firmly in place. What is all this? I thought aloud, my voice echoing in the silence. “Help!” I cried out, but my plea was met with an eerie s

Gasps rippled through the courtyard sharp, disbelieving, echoing off stone pillars like a thousand tiny knives.Granny’s hand tightened around my arm, trembling. I didn’t dare look at her. The weight of the moment pressed down on us like a thick fog, suffocating and heavy. I could feel the eyes of the pack upon me, their expectations and doubts swirling in the air like restless spirits. I refused to answer Damion, knowing that he was trying to bait me into revealing my vulnerabilities. I wouldn’t fall for his tricks.Yet Damion, as always, was far from finished.“You say it is for the good of the pack,” he continued, his voice dripping with mock concern so thick it practically coated the air. “Yet you deny the very act that ensures our unity.” He took a slow step forward, savoring every eye fixed on him. “A king’s bite is a vow, isn’t it? Without it…” he paused deliberately, letting the silence choke the courtyard, “...what proof do we have that this union is real? That it even exis

ASHTON'S POVIgnoring the sharp gasps that rippled through the courtyard, I kept my gaze forward. The sound struck me like cold splashes of water, but I didn’t let myself flinch. I had expected shock or maybe outrage but not this suffocating silence that followed. Every pair of eyes was anchored on me, wide and searching, as if waiting for me to say I’d been joking, or that this was some grand test of loyalty.I wished that I could have handled this at another time, but this is the perfect time and that's why I allowed the wedding.“But why, Your Majesty?” Elder Rowan asked, stepping forward, his silver hair catching the sunlight. His voice trembled as much as the hands he tried to clasp behind his back. Before I could answer, Granny ascended the raised platform in surprisingly swift steps for her age. Her presence alone softened something in me just a little. But her face was grave, her brows drawn tight as she came to stand beside me.I turned to the elders instead. “My reasons ar

Granny left to see how things were going outside, promising to call when it was time. As soon as she left, my heart began a frantic drumming. Is this how I'm going to win Ashton over. I paced for some few minutes then stopped when a soft knock came on the door. “Your Highness! It’s time!”Time. The word struck something sharp inside me. My palms dampened instantly, my legs felt heavy, almost foreign, as if they weren’t mine anymore. But I'm not backing out now, with Lyra's help I gathered the skirt of my gown, inhaled once to keep myself from trembling apart, and stepped out of my room toward the staircase. The descent felt surreal, each step slow and heavy, each breath a little too shallow. The hallway glowed with warm candlelight, and the soft hum of ancient lycanic hymns vibrated through the air like a memory older than the world itself. As I walked, lanterns hanging from carved wooden beams flickered as though bowing to the passing of a queen. When we reached the final step, the
