LOGINWhen the Deputy Hospital Director and a group of doctors and nurses left, Jeremy Lawrence looked around, amazed. "Elara, why have they moved me to such a nice room? Did Adrian arrange this?"
Jeremy did not yet know that Elara Sterling and Victor Ashford had broken up. "It wasn't him." Elara frowned in confusion, also unclear about the situation. Victor had already broken up with her, he couldn't possibly be this kind-hearted. It was even less likely for Leon Cross. This VIP ward seemed very high-end, staying here without doing anything would cost a significant amount of money. No one from the Sterling family would be willing to pay this much. Then who could it be? Who was so kind-hearted that they would help the two of them out of the blue? Elara was baffled with this thought. "Knock, knock, knock!" A knock on the door suddenly interrupted her thoughts. Elara went to answer the door. Outside stood a young nurse, who smiled and said, "Ms. Elara, our Dean would like to discuss your brother's condition with you. Please come with me." Elara was taken aback, surprise evident in her eyes, "The Dean wants to see me?" "Yes." Dean's Office. The young nurse led her to the door and knocked gently. The office door wasn't fully closed, half concealed. A pleasant and young voice came from inside, "Come in." Elara was startled by the unexpectedly youthful voice. She gently pushed open the door. As she walked in, she saw a young man sitting at the desk, who looked to be around 25 years old, with a handsome and mild face, wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, the epitome of a refined noble young man. Was this... the Dean?! Elara was visibly surprised and taken aback. The Dean was that young? She had initially assumed that he would be at least in his fifties or sixties. "Ms. Elara, hello. Please have a seat." While Elara was looking at Denver Lancaster with a surprise on her face, Denver Lancaster also looked up to appraise her with interest. Is this the young girl who once had a fling with Adrian Vale? He had to admit, even with her plain looks, she was a beauty. Looking at the girl in her twenties, she had very delicate features and her skin was fair and radiant. Even to him, who had seen many beautiful women, she was quite impressive. After appraising her for a moment, he said with a smile, "Ms. Elara, don't be nervous. We're all young, just treat me as a friend." His smile made Elara feel a bit more relaxed. She nodded, also smiling, and sat down. "Dean, I heard you wanted to talk about my brother's condition?" Elara asked directly, "Has there been a change in Jeremy's condition?" Denver Lancaster picked up the coffee on the table and took a sip, "There has been some change." Elara immediately became nervous, "I don't know..." "Your brother's disease should be treated as soon as possible. Because of this bout of illness, he has actually missed the best time for surgery." Elara's face changed instantly and her voice trembled, "What do you mean by missing the best time for surgery? Does it mean he can't have surgery in the future?" "It's not that he can't have surgery, but the post-operative effects won't be as good. Ms. Elara, your brother's surgery can't be delayed anymore." "I know..." Elara clenched her fist, "I, I will find a way for him to have surgery as soon as possible. Only, you said that if he has surgery now, the post-operative effects won't be too good..." "It depends on who performs the surgery." Denver Lancaster casually mentioned, "I know someone who is very good at this type of surgery. If he could be convinced to help, your brother's cure rate could be as high as ninety percent. But..." A cure rate as high as ninety percent? Elara Sterling's sinking heart suddenly ignited with hope, and she immediately asked, "But what? Dean, is this person you know a doctor at this hospital?" "No." Denver Lancaster shook his head, "He's a businessman and hasn't practiced medicine for many years. That's why I said he might not be willing to help." The glimmer of hope that had just ignited in her heart sank down once more. He hasn't practiced medicine for many years? Would he still perform surgery on Jeremy Lawrence? But... Even if there was only a one percent chance, she could not give up. Jeremy was the only person she cared about in this world. No matter what it took, she had to fight for him. "Dean, could you give me that person's contact information?" After a moment of contemplation, Elara looked at Denver Lancaster with a mix of pleading, apprehension, and anxiety in her eyes, "I would like to talk to him." A glint of cunning flashed quickly in Denver Lancaster's eyes, but he feigned a troubled expression on his face. After a few seconds of silence, he nodded and said, "Alright, I'll give you his contact information and address. However, when you meet him, don't let him know that it was me who sent you to find him." A look of joy appeared on Elara's face: "Thank you, Dean!" Heath Group. Looking at the towering skyscraper before her, Elara stood outside the revolving glass door, feeling a bit timid for a moment. But thinking of Jeremy, she gathered her courage. She took a deep breath and stepped inside. As soon as she approached the receptionists, she was stopped. Both receptionists were very attractive women with great figures. They wore exquisite makeup and adorned themselves with luxurious brand jewelry. At first glance, they seemed like wealthy young ladies. One of the receptionists saw that Elara was very beautiful, and a hint of hostility arose in her heart. Noticing that she was dressed modestly, she spoke even more arrogantly, "Miss, you need to register if you're looking for someone. Who are you looking for?" Elara hesitated for a moment before mentioning the name Denver Lancaster had given her, "Hello, I'm looking for Adrian Vale, is he available?" As soon as she finished speaking, she heard two sharp intakes of breath. The already hostile receptionist glared at her even more, practically staring her down, "Who are you? How dare you directly address President Adrian by his name. You need to make an appointment to see President Adrian, do you have one?" President Adrian? Elara was momentarily stunned. Was this man named Adrian Vale one of the senior executives at this company? Judging by the reaction of these receptionists, his position must not be low. She replied truthfully, "I don't have an appointment." "Hmph." The receptionist sneered disdainfully when she heard that Elara didn't have an appointment, "President Adrian isn't someone anyone can just meet. Without an appointment, do you really think you can see President Adrian? These days, some women have incredibly thick skin, thinking that they can cling to influential men just because of their looks. Can you casually imagine getting close to President Adrian?" Elara frowned slightly upon hearing this. She patiently tried to explain, "I think you've misunderstood me. I don't want to..." Before she could finish speaking, the receptionist interrupted impatiently, "We're not interested in hearing what you think. In any case, without an appointment, President Adrian won't meet you. You can leave now.”A heavy silence settled over the villa.Adrain eyes turned cold, the warmth in his eyes that he just showed to Elara disappeared replaced by the ruthless business man that the world knows. He looked at Alex. “ Block every road leading to the exit if this island”.“Yes sir,I'm on it”.He turned to the security men that had rushed in earlier. “ Make sure nobody leaves this place,I want him caught this time”.He turned to face Elara who was still shaken but don't want to show it. He adjusted the strands of her hair away from her face. “ I'm sorry”.“This isn't your fault”.His eyes soften only for a second. “ It became my responsibility the day I asked you to stay by my side”.She look into his eyes. “ I will be fine”.But he wasn't convinced,he turned to the two female security guards. “ Stay here with Elara”.They nodded. After they stood on their position did Adrain walked away with Alex.…..Outside the villa the security personnels has already spread across the island.Drones buzzed
The villa was quiet as they layed there together still hand in hand.Adrian mind drifted back to how his life was before he met Elara. Cold and distant from everyone including his mom, until he lost her.Now they are trying to take Elara away from him too. The most annoying part was that he didn't know who he was up against. He finally got the chance of claiming her love, finally she felt the need to kiss him and admit she's getting back the feeling that might have gone MIA during the accident. He finally gets to meet the Elara he was leaving with, the only woman who took his virginity from him.The first woman he was able to open up his heart. And now some enemies are trying to gamble that with whatever their reason might be.He needs to confront them or he needs to get close to Lydia and from there,he might be able to know who she's working with.Adrain thought hard on how to plant something close to Lydia without her noticing it.Something or someone he could be able to trust, with
Elara woke up before Adrain. She stood at the window and the air smelled of salt and blooming flowers. She felt relief, the weight inside her heart was lighter this time since she woke up from the hospital. The door behind her slid open.Adrian stepped outside, dressed casually in a white shirt with the sleeves rolled to his forearms. His hair was still slightly damp from his shower.Adrain stood when he saw her. “You woke up really early “.She smiled, turning to face him. “ I don't want to miss this “.Following the directions of her eyes,he saw her looking at the ocean. “ It is what waking up for”.He stood beside her while they enjoyed the view together in silence which was no longer awkward but comfortable. After breakfast, they rented bicycles and followed a narrow coastal road that wound through hills covered in wildflowers. The ocean remained beside them almost the entire journey.Elara laughed whenever the breeze pushed against her.She looked back once and found Adrian watchi
Elara and Adrian fully packed that night. She took a lot of things with her which he felt was unnecessary since he said he can actually afford anything she wanted when they got there. But she was just being a girl, she packed everything she needed and the next morning they left for the airport.Elara couldn't have been more happy, she actually needed the vacation. A lot has been happening at home which she doesn't think she can carry the weight of at the moment.Adrain really did her good and she was grateful. They boarded the plane and sat in the VIP section. Adrain sat close to Elara. He didn't want to leave her side anymore with the fear that he doesn't know what will happen to her even with them being in the plane. He knew perfectly well that the person he was dealing with could actually do anything. He wanted to find out who was working with Lydia and why he agreed to do it before knowing his next move. But first he needs to take care of Elara, she's the only woman in the world tha
It's already too late. The word stared at Adrian, the entire security fell into a suffocating silence. They have never seen their boss struggle with evidence like this before.Adrain stared at the screen. Whoever he was dealing with wasn't just challenging him,the person is openly mocking him now.Alex immediately ordered one of the technicians, "Disconnect every terminal. I want the system isolated before they gain access to anything else.”“Yes sir”. The technician hurriedly started doing that.Within seconds everything was disconnected, the screen went blank.Adrain stood where he was with his leg rooted at the same position. His expression read nothing but his mind kept on racing. The missing maid, the anonymous email. The prisoner who vanished from a locked cell and now someone has hacked into their system. This isn't just anyone,he must be well equipped.Alex stepped closer to him. “Boss, what are you thinking?Adrain sigh slowly. “I think they are trying to control what I do,they
Silence filled the library Adrain eyes remained on the tablet in his hands. The photograph was clearly taken moment ago, Elera was still standing where she is a few minutes ago holding the frame before he snatched the medical report from her.He zoomed in on the image and it was just Elara and the bookshelf nothing else.Yet his instincts told him there was something hidden. “Where did this email come from? He ask without looking up.Alex shook his head. "Our cybersecurity team traced it through twelve encrypted servers across different countries. Every trail disappeared before they could identify the sender.”Adrain clenched his fist, right there he knew they were professionals that's handling this thing. But he still doesn't understand why Elara seem to be the main target. For all he knew the enemy Elara has is the sister but her sister definitely can't pull this all by herself.Or does she have back up?“Can someone please tell me what's going on*. Elara asked looking at her both
The cafe Lydia chose was small and quiet. Lydia was already there when she arrived, seated at a corner with her coat still on and a coffee in front of her.Her face was carefully composed and her eyes lit up immediately she sighted Elera across the room. She stood as Elara walked up to her.“Thank y
Elara woke up to the smell of coffee. She lay still for a moment, blinking at the ceiling, letting herself to fully wake up. The light coming through her curtains was the soft one that meant it was still early. The house was quiet. Then she remembered the night before and everything in her chest
The Space BetweenInside the house was quiet and warm.Elara turned on the light in the living room. The soft light spread across the room and made everything feel slower and gentler.Adrian stood near the doorway, one hand resting lightly against the wall.He was still moving carefully, still hol
Sleep did not come that night either.James lay on his back in the dark of his bedroom and stared at the ceiling the way he had been doing a lot lately. His bedroom was small and organised in the way that a man living alone organises a space. The notebook was on the side table. He had written eigh
