Revenge

It was already five in the morning, when Sophia woke up and prepared breakfast for her mother and sibling. Thereafter she cleaned the entire house and took a cab heading back to the company.

By the time she arrived at the location of the same company which rejected her yesterday, the time was already seven o'clock. It was stated that the application for credentials would begin at 8:30.

The entrance of the company was filled with female figures already, making it so compacted that everyone had to form a line in order to get in.

However Sophia was far from them, the line and everyone. Her gaze was fixated on the name of the company *LL electronics* and just seeing it makes her blood boil in fury.

The only thing she had in mind was revenge, since looking at the company's name brought back a memory she could never forget.

   •FLASHBACK OF FIVE YEARS AGO•

Entering the supreme court was the prosecutor and his client Mr Logan, who walked majestically to his seat having no expression on his face at the moment.

On the other side of the court was Sophia Owen who was seated close to her attorney. Having a worried facial expression, she somehow met with those pitiful but sparkling eyes which just by staring at lifted up her self esteem.

Her mother nodded at her and shot her a smile that screamed *You can do it, don't worry* Somehow Sophia felt more calmer and darted her gaze from her mother to the crowd.

“All rise,” said the Judge in a commanding voice. Just then everyone who was seated stood up and sat down for a short period.

Kicking off, the trial was in access and it was the last one which was going to determine if Mr Logan was guilty or not. The past two trials didn't end up well as a result of Mr Logan pretending to be sick.

Sophia suddenly rubbed her arms which were filled with sudden goosebumps. She was suddenly having the urge to vomit, however she controlled herself.

Relaxing her mind, her attorney whispered to her “Don't worry as long as there is no solid evidence we will win.”

Somehow the moment the words left her attorney's mouth, Sophia high hopes revived and passed her mother a smile.

Shortly after, Mr Hiller, Sophia's attorney , stood up and submitted a picture regarding the bruises on Sophia's body.

“Here is a picture of the bruises on my client's body. If you look properly, you'd see a sign of scratches and here...” he pointed at the screen “Here is a sign of strangle on my client's neck.”

Mr Hiller walked back to his seat and brought out a ziploc bag which contained a bloody wristwatch. Walking back to the evidence desk, Mr Hiller held up the bloody wristwatch for everyone to see, which emitted whispers from the crowd.

The revelation stunned Mr Logan that he could not hide his expression. If it wasn't for the prosecutor who was in charge of his case, then he would have jumped from his seat.

Slowly the prosecutor in charge of Mr Logan's case turned to him “They have your wristwatch in custody, now that is a problem for us” In a gritted teeth she added “How could you forget such an important thing?!”

The last bit of color left Mr Logan's face. He was at a loss for words as this revelation was too much for him to handle.

*That unholy bitch, you think you've won huh?*

Despite Mr Logan's thought, he still managed to quirk his lips in a grin trying his possible best to stay calm and not surprised.

“The object I'm holding right now belongs to the one responsible for taking advantage of my client and that is...” Mr Hiller pointed at the direction of Mr Logan and yelled “Mr Logan,”

Just then the prosecutor in charge of Mr Logan's case banged on her desk “Objection, this attorney here is only making a speculation and I refuse for that wristwatch to be submitted as evidence.”

“Do you have a witness or alibi attorney?” the judge voiced out from his pendulum.

“I do have an alibi for your honor.” Mr Hiller uttered, having a glint of amusement on his face. He turned around and called for Sofia's mother to the witness stand.

Mrs Owen, Sofia's mother, walked to the witness stand and swore. Then Mr Hiller walked to the witness stand and began his interrogation.

Taking a deep breath, he said “Mrs Owen narrate to the court what you know about this rape case.”

Mrs Owen took a glance at her daughter and in a few minutes, she began as she narrated “Before Sofia left the house I asked for where she was headed to but she reminded me about her part time job at the hotel. An hour passed and Sofia called me but the only thing I heard when I answered the call was *Mom help me*....” Mrs Owen's words were stopped abruptly by her sobs.

“I am so sorry to hear that Mrs Owen” Mr Hiller said calmly while passing a handkerchief to her.

Mrs Owen stretched out her hand to take the handkerchief. She used it to wipe her tears before she continued. “Just then the phone hung up and when I tried to call back, it was switched off. After what felt like eternity, Sofia was dropped by a black bentley.

When I saw my daughter her whole body was filled with bruises and her private organ was bleeding so bad, then I took her to the hospital”

“Do you know the time when you received that call? And also the time she arrived home?” Mr Hiller asked Mrs Owen.

Meanwhile Mr Hiller rubbed his stomach slightly when he felt a painful sensation within him but he bothered less about it.

*What is this feeling I've been having since morning?* Putting his inner thoughts aside, Mr Hiller regained his composure.

Racking her brain, Mrs Owen clicked her finger “Yes it was there about eight o'clock. I remembered because Sofia's part time job usually kicks off at seven and I received the call in an hour.” she explained further. “Then she arrive home close to an extra hour after I received the call”

Having heard the explanation from her mother, Sofia couldn't stop herself from crying. Therefore she used her hands to muffle the sound of her sobs.

“It was stated that Sofia left home by seven and at that same time, Mr Logan wasn't at his residence but at a five star hotel.” Mr Hiller said aloud for everyone to hear and there again, the whispers among people could be heard.

Right now, the atmosphere was tense to the extent that Mr Logan had to loosen his necktie in order to breathe properly. Mr Hiller glided over and stopped in front of them, his expression held a glint of excitement.

In a whisper he leaned down as he asked “Don't you think it's high time to turn yourself in? Huh Mr Logan?”
