“Have you lost it?!” Lucas yelled as he rubbed his daughter's back, suppressing the cough which emitted from her.
Understanding the meaning behind that yell, the middle aged woman in front of the father and daughter immediately went on her knees as she begged with her hands clasped together.
“I am sorry Mr Logan, I will make sure this doesn't happen again,”
The reply from her seemed to have built up a sudden rage in Lucas because he quickly carried a bottle of whiskey from his bar and smashed it in front of the lady.
Breathing heavily as though he just ran a hundred meters race, Lucas massaged his temple to calm himself otherwise he might end up doing something he would later regret, most especially not in front of his daughter.
Speaking of which, he quickly turned and rushed to her side, pulling her into a tight hug. Caressing her long and straight hair he whispered “Are you ok? Should I call the doctor”
The little latter in his arms, pulled away from the hug and looked her father in the eyes. Shaking her head sideways she spat in disgust “No, don't call the doctor daddy. He is a bad man and I don't like him, he gives me painful shots.” she folded her hand on her chest.
*She really takes after her mother, scared of little things*
Lost in his own thoughts, Lucas reached for her face and placed a light peck on her forehead. After being mum for a while, he finally spoke.
“I can see that you are fine, sweetie, can you go to your room? He asked in the calmest tone but the latter didn't say a thing except giving him looks.
Being the smart and ambiguous man he is, Lucas clearly understood the meaning of those looks. They were more vivid this time and he felt a huge blow in his heart. They were looks of disappointment and sadness.
Over the years of taking care of his daughter he was just too busy to spend some quality time alone with her whenever she'd asked. Furthermore, he would tell her to go into her room and wait for him but as always, he never came.
After mulling over the issue for a while, Lucas let out a stiff smile and placed his daughter on his thigh instead.
“Sweetie can you believe me this time?” he tucked her wet hair behind her ears “I really won't disappoint you” his voice was clearly mixed with emotions as he spoke.
The latter looked at her father, reading his countenance, she let out a sigh and stuck out her pinky finger to her father's face “Promise me”
Letting out a chuckle, Lucas intertwined his pinky finger with hers “I promise you sweetie,” he replied calmly and she pecked him on the cheek before running upstairs.
“Careful, don't fall down” he yelled after her but she was already out of sight.
Meanwhile, seeing that the father and daughter session was over, the middle aged lady took the initiative and crawled over to where Lucas was seated before taking a hold of his legs.
Her face was stained with dried tears and her lips had already gotten pale, following swollen eyes. In a whisper her voice came out cracked as she stuttered “Mr Logan, I was a fool but please just forgive me this once and I guarantee you that it won't happen again,”
*What an excuse for a fool*
Scoffing inwardly Lucas lowered his head to her level “My daughter almost died in the swimming pool because her so called nanny wasn't there by her side...” he trailed off his words and stood up.
“What do you think could have happened if I didn't arrive on time?”
Having heard the question, the middle aged broke into cold sweats. His question alone felt like a fiery path to walk through before answering.
Anyone who knew Lucas Logan would testify of him being strict and arrogant. But right now, that was not the case because he was definitely different from what others had described. He was a heartless demon who gets rid of anyone that crossed the line and this woman was no different.
Letting out a throaty chuckle, Lucas turned to her “Was that question too hard to answer?”
Again the woman kept quiet, contemplating whether to answer or not. After what felt like an hour she looked at him with tears filled eyes “Mr Logan please forgive, I am really...”
“Sorry?” Lucas interjected “Sorry won't fix anything. You made a terrible mistake today and I can't let that repeat itself in the future.
Lucas turned to his assistant who stood at the entrance and ordered in a hoarse voice “Get her out of my sight and hold an interview for a new nanny.”
“Understood Mr Logan” he bowed respectfully.

Sofia Owen who was seated on a bench was thinking if she should leave the company or not. The dazzling sight of the other people that came for the interview made her lose her confidence. However, before Sofia could decide, a staff member suddenly called for her.
Upon hearing her name, Sofia raised her hand in signification. Carrying her bag quickly from the bench, she hung it around her shoulder and walked into the Interview room.
“Hello” She uttered in a rather sophisticated manner. Just then an interviewer ushered her to sit down.
One of the interviewer's faces held a placid expression as she asked, “Shall we begin Miss?”
“Yes ma'am” Sofia's expression was rather full of excitement. Her expression had even caused the interviewers to wonder if she had been here before and knows everything about the company.
“Well miss...” the interviewer began.
Stepping out of the company, Sofia suddenly halted on her track and turned around, taking one last look at the company.
Letting out a sigh her mind wandered back to the interview room. Back then the interviewers had told her that CV wasn't close to what they wanted.
Devastated Sofia flagged a taxi and headed back home. While in the taxi, Sofia thought of ways to get a new job in order to take proper care of her family.
Prior to this, she had once imagined her life to turn out this way ever since the accident took place five years ago but right now, her imagination wasn't even close to what she was actually passing through.
Just then a muffled sentence could be heard from the radio.
*Mr Logan is currently on the search for a nanny for his five years old daughter...*
Having heard the name *Logan* Sofia balled her fist but released it right after. Furthermore she tapped the driver and asked him to increase the volume.
*The interview is starting in two days and is going to take place in his company*
Sofia thought she had heard enough, so she brought out her phone to check if it was actually true. Just then a notification popped on her phone and there it was...it was actually true.
“This is awesome” Sofia's expression was rather placid. Up till now, she had never thought of a better way to get rid of Mr Logan and this seemed to be the most ulterior way.
*Just you wait Lucas Logan, I'm going to crush you soon*
The fingers clenching her phone were turning white while her lips moved soundlessly.

A few days laterLucas private captain announced the arrival of the plane at the new york city. Lucas and Sophia smiled at each other as they walked hand in hand out of the plane. A car was already waiting; Lucas led her into the car by opening the passenger door, leaving the driver to go get their luggage."You owned this car too?" she asked, just wanting to be sure. "Well! I do; you know I am freaking rich," he said arrogantly."Don't try to be pompous, Mr. Owner." They both smiled at the joke. He went into the car from the other side."Sir, it's been a while since you've been here; it's good seeing you again." His driver said, and he scoffed."Yes, I have been busy with work. How's everything here in New York?" He asked, trying to start a discussion."It's cool, sir; we've been pushing through." He replied, focusing on the road. They discuss some random things and also crack jokes with them, making the drive to the Logan house a smooth one.Getting to the house, Sophia saw the mar
Sophia came to their house to give them the news about her and Lucas going on a trip. She can't wait to announce that news to her family, but coming there, she saw Stephen dressing."Hey! "Are you going to school today, and what's the time?" Sophia asked, wondering why Stephen was dressing up really hot. Is he trying to impress someone?"Did I look cute? Please be serious," he asked, waiting for her reply. "Why are you dressing up so serious? Are you going to a party?" she asked, and Stephen chuckled softly."I guess the problem I have with you is that you ask questions a lot. Well! Today is Natalie's birthday, so I promise to take her around. Tell me where you can take a girl so as to make them happy?" he asked, waiting to hear from Sophia, who was just staring at her. She had come to express her happiness, but he's here playing a lover boy."Take her to hellfire; that's where girls love." She said with a slight hint of jealousy in her voice."Are you jealous that my son is now goin
Two Months Later"So where did you say we are going to?" Sophia looked up at Lucas with a bright smile, ready to go anywhere with him. Lucas pretended to be in deep thought, rubbing his chin before flashing his trademark smirk. The sun was shining down on them, casting a warm glow on the couple as they chatted. "I don't know for now," Lucas said coyly, watching as Sophia rolled her eyes but in a playful way. Sophia stepped closer to Lucas, narrowing her eyes slightly. "Tell me where we are going to when I am being nice," she teased. Lucas continued to hold back the surprise, delighted by Sophia's playful demeanor. "It's a surprise," he finally relented. "It's good to have some alone time to ourselves. Ava is with her grandmother, so I don't think we'll have any disturbances. Let's spend three days in another country. I promise to only think of you." A gentle breeze picked up and the surrounding trees rustled slightly in agreement with Lucas' romantic plan.Sophia's face lit up wit
"You don't have to worry, sweetheart; mom will be okay." He reassured her and sniffled."Should I come over? I want to see her?" She asked, her tone filled with worry."No, stay there. I will come get you soon," Lucas's voice strains through the phone."Okay, dad, I wished Mom a quick recovery." She prayed, her voice low. The call ended, and Lucas dipped the phone into his pocket. He went closer to the bed and sat on the edge, caressing Sophia's face. The hospital counterStephen and Kingsley rushed into the hospital and rushed to the counter, breathing heavily, their faces full of worries. They looked around but couldn't find Lucas."Please, my sister, where's she?" She was rushed here, and my brother in-law called to inform me that she needed a donor. I am here; can you take my blood sample?" He spoke sharply, his voice laced with concerns for her sister."What's your sister's name, and which ward?" The nurse in charge asked."Her name is Sophia Owen, but we didn't know her ward. We
She took the phone closer to ear immediately she clicked on the answer button. "Nice hearing your voice. I couldn't fathom that you're calling me personally. That's strange. Anyway, what did you call me for?" She said the last sentence sarcastically. Lucas was yelling at her end, and she could sense him boiling in anger right now. She burst into laughter before hearing his voice again. "Elena, where the hell did you put my child? Where's my child?" "This is kinda funny, I don't know how you got my number, I thought you don't have my number," she replied, "Anyway, she's also my child. Why are you panicking? Are you afraid I might hurt her? If you're afraid, yes, I can hurt her," she added. "No, Elena, you can't do that. She's your child, your blood." Lucas pledged and Elena scoffed at Lucas' words."Blood? I don't know why weak people like you believe you can't hurt your blood. I can hurt her, she's nothing to me," she said. "What did you want from me, Elena?" Lucas asked, In a n
