Noah stood in his father’s study while the older man paced behind the desk. The city was still dark beyond the windows. The video played on a muted tablet between them, looping the terrace moment in cold, clear detail.

“You will end this,” his father said. No raised voice. That made it worse. “Whatever it is. Whatever he is. Finished. Today.”

Noah kept his hands at his sides. “There is nothing to end.”

“Do not lie to me in my own house.” The tablet was turned so the screen faced him again. Elvis’s face. His own. The way they stood. “You will call Clara this morning and apologize for leaving her side. You will attend every remaining event at my side. And you will never speak to that driver again. If you do, the trust closes. The shares revert. Your mother will be instructed not to contact you. Am I understood?”

The silence that followed felt final.

“Yes,” Noah said.

His father studied him for a long moment, then dismissed him with a small movement of one hand.

Outside the study Noah leaned against the wall and dragged in a slow breath. His shoulder still ached. The cut on his temple had started to itch under the makeup. None of it compared to the weight settling across his chest.

He lasted six hours before he broke. The message he sent was short.

Old east track. Midnight. Alone. Elvis replied with a single word.

Yes.

The east track had been abandoned for two years. Weeds pushed through cracks in the asphalt. The old floodlights were dead. Only the moon and the thin beam of Noah’s headlights cut the dark when he arrived.

Elvis’s black GT-R was already there, parked at an angle near the start line. Elvis sat on the hood, elbows on his knees, waiting. He had changed out of the suit. Black jeans. A dark long-sleeve shirt with the sleeves shoved to his elbows. The same restless energy rolled off him as always.

Noah killed the engine and stepped out. The night was cool. Somewhere in the distance a dog barked once and went quiet.

“You shouldn’t have come to the gala,” Noah said.

Elvis slid off the hood. “You shouldn’t have looked at me like that across the room.”

“My father has the video.”

“I figured.”

They stood several meters apart on the cracked asphalt. The air between them felt tight, stretched.

“He gave me an ultimatum,” Noah said. “I stay away from you or I lose everything. Money. Name. Family.”

Elvis’s expression didn’t change, but something in his posture did. “And what did you tell him?”

“What he wanted to hear.”

A short, humorless breath left Elvis. “Of course you did.”

“What did you expect me to say?”

“The truth.”

Noah laughed once, sharp and tired. “The truth gets me cut off with nothing. The truth puts a target on both of us.”

Elvis closed the distance in four long strides. He stopped close enough that Noah had to tip his chin up to hold his gaze. “Then why send the message? Why come here?”

Noah had no clean answer. The words sat in his throat, tangled with everything he had swallowed for years. The races. The near-crash. The terrace. The way Elvis had looked at him while blood ran down his face.

“I don’t know how to stay away,” he said finally.

Elvis’s eyes searched his. The anger was still there, but under it lived something rawer. “Then don’t.”

The last bit of careful space between them collapsed.

Elvis’s hand came up, fingers sliding along Noah’s jaw, firm and certain. Noah could have stepped back. He didn’t. The first kiss was rough, almost punishing, all the weeks of rivalry and denial poured into the contact. Noah made a low sound and gripped the front of Elvis’s shirt, pulling him closer. Heat sparked fast. Teeth. Breath. The taste of adrenaline still lingering under skin.

They broke apart only far enough to drag in air. Foreheads nearly touching. Elvis’s thumb brushed the edge of the healing cut on Noah’s temple.

“This is a bad idea,” Noah whispered.

“I know.”

They kissed again, slower this time, deeper. Noah’s back met the side of his own car. Elvis pressed in, one hand braced beside Noah’s head, the other splayed at his waist beneath the open jacket. Every point of contact felt electric. The night air was cool but their bodies generated their own heat. Noah’s fingers found the back of Elvis’s neck and held on.

A low sound rumbled in Elvis’s chest. He mouthed along Noah’s jaw, down the side of his throat, biting lightly at the pulse there. Noah’s head tipped back against the metal. For a few stolen minutes the rest of the world—fathers, engagements, consequences—fell away. There was only the press of mouths and the hard line of Elvis’s body and the dangerous relief of finally stopping the fight.

Then light cut across the track.

Both of them froze.

Headlights. Far end of the straight. Two vehicles, moving slowly, deliberately. Not random traffic. The beams swept the asphalt as the cars advanced.

Elvis stepped back first, jaw tight, eyes narrowed toward the approaching lights. Noah’s heart hammered against his ribs. His lips still tingled. The night that had felt private a second ago suddenly felt exposed.

The vehicles kept coming.

Elvis’s voice was low and edged. “Get in your car.”

Noah didn’t move. The headlights grew brighter, closer, until the shapes of the vehicles became clear. One was a dark sedan. The other looked like a security SUV.

Recognition landed cold in Noah’s stomach.

His father’s men.

Elvis saw it too. His expression went hard. “They followed you.”

The cars stopped thirty meters away. Doors opened. Figures stepped out into the beams.

Noah’s phone buzzed in his pocket at the same moment. A message from his father.

You were warned.

He looked from the screen to Elvis, then to the men waiting in the light, and understood that the small window of freedom they had just claimed was already slamming shut.

The men did not raise their voices. They simply stood in the wash of headlights and waited. One of them held up a phone. Noah’s father’s voice came through the speaker, calm and final.“Get in the car, Noah. Now.”Elvis shifted his weight, ready to move. Noah caught his eye and gave a small, sharp shake of the head. Any fight here would only make the consequences worse. He stepped away from the car and toward the sedan. Before the door closed he looked back once. Elvis stood alone on the cracked asphalt, hands clenched, face unreadable in the glare. The ride home passed in silence.Three days of carefully constructed distance followed.Noah attended every required appearance beside Clara. He smiled when cameras flashed. He answered questions about the upcoming announcement with practiced ease. At night he lay awake staring at the ceiling, replaying the feel of Elvis’s mouth and the exact moment the headlights cut across them.Elvis disappeared from the usual circuits. No messages. No

  • Hold The Apex    Chapter 3- the Gala

The ballroom smelled of expensive perfume and forced smiles.Noah stood near the tall windows with a crystal glass he had no intention of finishing. Clara Voss rested her hand lightly on his arm, the picture of polished grace in a pale blue dress. She laughed at something his mother said, the sound bright and practiced. Noah mirrored the expression expected of him. Inside, everything felt scraped raw.Four days. That was all the time his father had left him.The cut on his temple had been carefully covered with makeup. His shoulder still ached beneath the tailored black jacket. Every time someone congratulated him on the “exciting news,” the words landed like small blows.Across the room, the main doors opened.Elvis walked in as if he belonged there. He wore a dark suit that fit too well for someone who usually lived in racing gear. His hair was still slightly damp, as though he had showered in a hurry. He didn’t look around for permission. His gaze found Noah within seconds and held

  • Hold The Apex    Chapter 2- The rear of Noah’s car snapped sideways on the blind left-hander.

Elvis saw it happen in the sharp white glare of his own headlights. One second the silver R35 held a perfect line. The next it was sliding toward the sheer drop, tires screaming, taillights flashing red against black rock. Noah corrected hard. Too hard. The back end swung the other way and the car slammed into the low concrete barrier with a sound like a gunshot.Metal crumpled. Sparks sprayed. The R35 bounced off the wall, spun once, and stopped at a crooked angle, nose pointed toward the void.Elvis’s heart slammed against his ribs. He stood on the brakes, felt his own car shudder, and stopped twenty meters short. Dust and rubber smoke rolled across the track. For a frozen second nothing moved. Then he was out of the driver’s seat and running. The quarry lights were sparse. Most of the other cars had already passed or slowed far behind. Someone shouted in the distance. Elvis reached the silver car first. The driver’s door was jammed. He yanked it once, twice, then braced his foot ag

The engine screamed like something alive and furious under Elvis’s hands.Night air tore through the open window of the black GT-R as he drifted through the final hairpin on the abandoned industrial stretch outside the city. Headlights cut the dark. The smell of burnt rubber and high octane fuel clung to everything. Behind him, a silver R35 closed the gap with brutal precision. Noah. Always Noah.Elvis’s jaw locked. He downshifted hard, felt the rear end step out, and powered through the apex with a snarl of tires. The finish line was a spray-painted stripe across cracked asphalt two hundred meters ahead. He could taste the win already until the silver car lunged beside him, engine howling, and Noah’s front bumper edged past by half a car length. They crossed the line almost together.Almost. Noah took it.Elvis killed the engine and sat in the sudden quiet, breathing hard, knuckles white on the wheel. The underground race crew was already shouting, money changing hands, phones lighti
