Chapter 4

Penulis: Flower Bunny
I arrived at the parking garage to see Zachary and Sierra standing beside his car. Both of them were smiling widely as they stood inappropriately close to each other.

"Didn't I just send you home? Why have you come here?"

Sierra wrapped her arms around his waist. "Bingo is missing… I just went out to throw the trash, only to come back and find him gone…"

Zachary patted her back and comforted her, "He's just a dog. Who cares if he goes missing?"

"But you said he was a token of your love for me, a symbol of our relationship…"

Gently cradling her cheeks, he pressed a kiss to her lips. "Be good now. She has so many other dogs in her clinic. Just tell me which one catches your interest, and I'll bring it to you again."

Sierra tilted her head back to look up at him, tears still clinging to her lashes. "Zach, I can't bear to part with you. Keep me company again tonight, will you?"

"Don't be like this. We already talked about this. I've already spent two days with you," Zachary said, comforting her patiently.

"I don't care! Every time I think about you two sleeping together, I feel like I'm about to die from how much it hurts!"

With that said, she grabbed his hand and placed it on her chest. Biting her lip, she said in a tearful voice, "Just feel it yourself. My heart hurts so bad."

Zachary laughed wickedly, tightening his fingers, but Sierra went along with it and leaned into his chest. He eagerly kissed her, his movements filled with urgency, passion, and an unwillingness to part.

"Zach, I love you so, so much. Can you not get married?"

Hearing that, Zachary paused before pulling away from her lips. "Enough with the nonsense."

"I'm not talking nonsense! You clearly love me, so why can't you openly be with me?"

Sierra burst into tears, appearing utterly pitiful and aggrieved.

"I'll take you back and spend one more night with you." Instead of answering her question, Zachary unlocked his car and got ready to open the door.

"Why can't you do that?" I spoke up.

Zachary and Sierra's heads snapped around when they heard my voice. Zachary instantly turned pale.

At first, Sierra was surprised, but when she saw who I was, a triumphant look flashed in her eyes. She gripped Zachary's arm in a tight, possessive grip, clearly staking her claim.

I stepped closer to them.

"Why marry me when you love her? Why involve me in this mess when you two clearly love each other deeply?"

Zachary's lips moved, but no sound left his mouth.

It was Sierra who suddenly stepped forward to stand protectively in front of Zachary as she begged, "Jessica, please don't blame Zach! This is all my fault. I was the one who clung to him, and I was also the one who forcefully kissed him earlier!"

Her acting skills truly were on another level!

I responded with a hard slap across her cheek. "You don't get to speak here."

At that, Zachary finally snapped out of his shock and seized my wrist.

"Jessica Lane, were you following me?"

Wrenching myself free of his grip, I retorted, "If you didn't want me to find out, why would you be all lovey-dovey right here in our garage? Why would you use my money to support your mistress?"

Zachary's eyes flashed. "I can explain—"

"Explain what? About how it was so difficult and tiring for you to juggle two families for the past three years? Or are you going to tell me why you stole my dog away and gave him to her?"

He reached out to grab me again, but I flung him away with such force that he stumbled back a few steps. Nonetheless, he still refused to give up, stepping forward to try to take my arm again.

"Jessica!"

This time, I mustered up as much strength as I could and smacked him in the face.

Zachary's head snapped to the side, a bright red handprint surfacing on his cheek soon after.

Seeing that, Sierra screamed and charged over.

Jabbing a finger at Zachary, I said, "Riverside Condominium, Block 19, unit 102. That's just two blocks away from our home! You've been involved with each other for three years, yet you're still trying to lie to me? Zachary Yandon, the wedding is canceled! It's over between us!"

After that, Zachary lost his nerve and never appeared before me again. However, I had severely underestimated just how crazy Sierra was. After she was fired by the hospital due to "a serious violation of professional ethics, causing a highly negative social impact", she turned all of her hatred and resentment toward me. Having lost everything, she swiftly took me to court, claiming that I had damaged her reputation by publicly stating her real name and workplace on the internet.Nonetheless, I faced the court case calmly. In the end, the judge ruled that I had indeed mishandled Sierra's personal information when exposing her online, so I had to make her a public apology. My lawyer shot me a worried look. "Ms. Lane, we can ask for a retrial…""No need." I folded the written judgment. "I'll apologize."That afternoon, I set up my phone camera in the treatment room of my clinic. After starting the recording, I looked into the camera and began speaking."Good day, everyone. I'm J

That afternoon, I brought in the same construction workers who had worked on renovating my marital home with Zachary. Pointing at the elaborately designed feature wall in the living room, I ordered, "Demolish that wall.""What? Ms. Lane, we only just finished that wall! The craftsmanship and materials are also the very best out there…"The foreman was bewildered."Get rid of it," I replied without any change in tone. "Also, remove the flooring.""But…""The custom cabinets, kitchen island, and the bathtub in the bathroom too."The foreman waved a hand. "Alrighty. As you wish!"As the pounding of the sledgehammers rang out, I took my phone out and recorded a short video of the mess. Following that, I logged into the pet education account I had on Instagram, which had a sizable following. I then started a post with the simple title of, "Scumbags Don’t Deserve to Have Dogs, Let Alone a Home."What followed was a series of photos, including a screenshot of Sierra's first post on

I had no idea what Zachary did to appease Sierra, but there was no denying it was effective. Within hours, all related posts and videos had been deleted. She then used that account that had accused me of stealing Bingo to issue an apology, admitting that she'd accused me due to malicious competition and that she'd simply staged it to manipulate public opinion. She also admitted that the video and negative reviews had all been fabricated.Although some were suspicious of the truth behind the apology, most people ended up turning their hostility toward Sierra. The incessant harassment got to the point that she had no choice but to shut down all of those accounts. The incident was finally over, but the damage to my career was already done. Because of that, Zachary assumed that he now knew what my weakness was.Using that as a threat, he insisted that I go on with the wedding and resume paying for the house loan and other expenses. Besides that, he shamelessly expressed how he wanted t

To my surprise, Sierra made good on her words. The next morning, my clinic received over a dozen new negative reviews."Heartless vet! She killed my rabbit!""She claimed she was selling me an imported premium kibble brand, but it turned out to be just some cheap dog food! Everyone, avoid this place!""This clinic is terrible! They give pets expired medications!""Avoid at all costs! It's confirmed that they abuse animals!"On Chatter, a social media platform, someone claiming to be a powerless owner had posted an article saying they had lost their beloved dog.The title read, "Owner of famous vet clinic near Riverside Condominium came to feed my dog, only to steal my precious golden retriever, Bingo."There was an attached photo, which was a screenshot of the surveillance footage showing me taking Bingo away. The contents of the article were incredibly inciting, painting me as this warped dog thief who stole other people's pets.A short video with similar content started goin

I wasn't sure if it was the bills that scared Zachary off or if it was something else, but he didn't bother me again. However, three days later, Sierra sought me out. She invited me out to a cafe near the vet clinic. The instant we sat down, she dumped a stack of photos on the table, all of which were intimate photos of her and Zachary.I merely glanced at the photos before curling my lips into a smirk."What are you trying to say?"Sierra picked up one of the photos. In it, both Sierra and Zachary looked much younger than they did now."Jessica, you say I'm the mistress, but the truth is, you're the mistress here! Zach and I have been together since our university years!"I squeezed the coffee cup tightly, my eyes narrowing slightly. Nevertheless, I quickly regained my composure."Then why did you keep silent for the past three years when you knew we'd gotten together? Ms. Goldman, I've been to your house, and I've also seen your social media account. If I truly was the mistre

With that said, I ignored Zachary and Sierra and stormed back to my house, locking the door behind me.Zachary chased after me. When he realized he couldn't open the front door, he began pounding on it. Completely disregarding his image, he yelled, "Honey, open the door! Let's talk about it! Please give me another chance! I know I was wrong!"I pretended not to hear him, assuming he would leave after shouting for a while longer. However, I had underestimated just how shameless Zachary was willing to be this time. The loud commotion attracted the attention of our neighbors, who came out to see what the noise was all about. When Zachary noticed them, he cried out, "Ma'am, please talk to my fiancee for me! You know how good our relationship usually is. I made her angry earlier, and she's kicked me out."Convinced by his words, the older lady from the unit opposite ours came over to knock on the door as well."Miss, it's only normal for couples to get into a little spat. There's no
