Chapter 5

Hannah

It has been two weeks since I have started working at Capone Industries, and I was already in need of a break. Mostly stressing over brick. I believe he either just forgot who I was and left the lingerie on the sidewalk or is remembering who I am and still left the lingerie. Pushing my paranoia away, I thought about what today was. My off day.

Yes, he only gives me one-off day every two weeks. But it was better than my previous job as a waitress. I never received any of days.

Ever since Jules dropped me off the first day, I haven't seen her. In the beginning I thought she was in trouble or something close to that, but then she started messaging me, saying she was at her parent's house or at the mall, or some lame excuse. I have an inkling she got bored with me and just didn't want to be my friend anymore, but I pushed that aside because maybe she wasn't lying, and I was just overthinking as usual.

My phone began ringing as I sat on the couch watching television. I glanced at the contact name and nearly fell off the couch. It was Jules.

"Guess what we're doing today?" She asked as soon as I answered.

"Where have you been Jules? I have been worried sick. Wanting to hang out and all I get are lame excuses. If you don't want to-"

She cuts me off before I could finish.

Seriously, what was it with people cutting me off?

"Hannah, look, I am extremely sorry and will tell you everything when we go out tonight.'' She explained, adding the last part quickly.

"What do you mean, going out? I'm not going anywhere tonight. It's my only off day and I choose to use it wisely."

"Oh, come on, live a little girl. I promise to tell you every detail. Please, I just feel like we need a night out. I know you need it working for the kind of boss you have. And I really miss you.''

Now I had to go. I mean, she was begging me, and Jules never begs for anything. Not that she had to, anyway. People were usually the ones begging her.

I shook my head and sighed. "Fine. Where are we going anyway?"

"Thank you girl. I love you so much. You're the best."

"I love you too. But where are we going? Is it like a club, a restaurant, what?" I asked and began walking to my room.

"I think we should go for that new club opening up. It seems really cool and everyone keeps talking about it."

" I have no clue what you're talking about but sure let's go there."

"Great! Sending the address now."

"Alright, sounds good. I'll see you there."

"Bye Hun, see you then."

I decided to take a quick shower first. When I got out, I didn't have many options and As I was looking through my closet, I only saw a bunch of hoodies and 'depressing shit' as Jules would say it. Soon becoming frustrated and a little hungry, I headed downstairs but stopped when I saw Jules' room.

I knew she liked to party, so there would be plenty of dresses in her closet. Slowly walking in, I spotted the closet and entered.

Wow, she has a whole walk-in closet, and I'm left with a few drawers and a rack.

Just as I was about to walk back out, I spotted a beautiful gray, sparkly dress. I usually wasn't one to wear these kinds of dresses or dresses at all, but geez, this one was absolutely stunning.

It didn't have any straps, stopped mid-thigh, and had a matching scarf. I also found the perfect gray shoes to go with it. The shoes also had a star that went around the back of your foot. It was perfect.

I rush downstairs to call Jules and she answers on the third ring. "Hey, what's up? I'm in the middle of getting ready. You know I need all the time I can get."

"I know, sorry. I wanted to ask if I could wear that gray sparkly dress in your closet?''

"You want to wear a dress? And with sparkles? You're messing with me aren't you? Gosh, I hate when you do th-"

"I know it's hard to believe, but yes. I want to wear a dress." I reply and roll my eyes.

"Yes, absolutely. I can't wait to see you in it."

"Thanks, Jules," I respond, and hang up.

Running up the stairs so quickly I trip but recover and am able to get the dress. After putting on lotion and body spray, I pulled the dress on.

For this short period, I felt pretty. I knew it wouldn't last, so I soaked in the moment up for as long as possible.

Finally, finishing, I went downstairs to text Jules I was on the way. I grab my keys and coat before heading out.

Micheal

"Now get out of my office and don't bother showing up tomorrow. I promise you won't see another day in your life," I ordered Jim, one of my employees. I had caught him sneaking around after everyone left.

" Yes sir.''

I was already having a horrible day, stressing out because I couldn't get her out of my head. She was beautiful. Her green eyes made her appeal so angelic you could get lost in them instantly. That's if she would hold eye contact for over two seconds.

Hannah had brown, wavy hair. Sometimes she would put it down, but by the end of the day, it would be put back into a makeshift ponytail.

I wasn't just attracted to her body. It was a more of a bonus. It was more to her than her looks. It was the way she looked no one in the eye and if she did, she would immediately look away. Or always apologizes for little things. I also noticed every one of my assistants was always trying too hard. But Hannah, on the very first day, she spilled coffee and dropped the first task she had. Not to mention her first impression, leaving me a pair of her underwear.

Most women wait at least an hour after meeting me before they get to that step.

I needed to get her out of my head. Why was I thinking about a woman who I've only met two weeks ago, anyway?

Thankfully, my brother David called. Technically, he wasn't my biological brother. I was an only child. But I hung around David so much his parents practically considered me a second son.

David and I met freshmen year of high school way back when I was lanky Michael. Nowhere near as muscular as I am now. After my biological parents kicked me out, I had nowhere to go. Meaning I barely ever had anything to eat. So I became very skinny. But that didn't mean I would let anyone bully me.

I always stood my ground. It was my nature and most of the time would get me in a lot of trouble. I just didn't like the way I looked, and how every girl never spared a glance at me unless they were giving disgusted looks.

Then David came along. I had joined the basketball team and, seeing I wasn't in much shape to play, he let me use the gym in his house. I went there every day and soon I became a part of his family.

'"How ya been, man?''

"What the hell do you want?"

" I see someones had a bad day. What's got your panties in a twist buddy?"

"Don't call me that. And it's nothing, man. Just this damn assistant."

"Aww, you found someone that made you actually think about them for more than five seconds. Tell me everything. How did you meet? What's she like? I want all the details.'' He said, speaking in a mock woman's voice.

"What did you call me for? If it was to annoy me, you have succeeded. ''

He laughs and replies, "You do know I love to do that. But no, I was calling to say we're going to your club. I need to drink and you need some pussy."

My instant thought was to say no. I had too much work to do and every time I went out with David, it always ended badly. But I thought about how much I needed to get Hannah out of my head. Some thirsty chick was just what I needed to accomplish that. "Fuck it. I'm going. Be at my office in thirty minutes. We'll leave then. I have some work to finish first.''

"Nope already here." He replied just as my office door opened. I ended the call and set it on the table as he put his phone lazily in his pocket.

"Long time no see." He greeted when I stood and tried to punch my stomach, which I easily dodged.

"It's been a week. You're like a clingy girlfriend."I grumble and hug him. Letting go almost immediately after.

"Speaking of girlfriend, who's this assistant?"

I wasn't in the mood to say anything because I knew he would get weird about it. But I went ahead and told him since he wouldn't let it go.

"When I was walking the other day from meeting with that one company I told you about, she bumped into me. At first, I didn't see her because she was so damn small, but when I did, I saw she had dropped her things. So when I tried to pick it up for h-''

He looked at me with a shocked expression. I didn't know why. I hadn't even gotten to the shocking part yet.

"What?"

"Nothing."

"Just tell me."

"It's just that I never thought I would see the day you would help someone." David said dramatically, his hand over his heart as he wiped fake tears from his eyes.

"Fuck you. I help people." I protested, offended.

"Name when. And not someone you know."

I tried my hardest to think of someone, but my brain refused to help me. Refusing not to accept defeat, I came up with an excuse.

"I don't have to tell you. Anyway, when I was about close to being done with helping her get her stuff, I accidentally picked up some of her red lingerie and-"

He interrupts me again, "I never thought I would hear you say accidentally pick up panties either." He jokes, laughing way harder than I liked.

"The next time you interrupt me, I will knock your teeth out. Let me finish. When I picked up her panties, she just ran off. I thought I would never see her again.''

He nods.

"So then the next day, she shows up as my assistant. And now she's been here for two weeks and hasn't even recognized me. Who doesn't recognize me? I'm Michael Capone, for Christ's sake. You know?''

''Yep. Because it's a crime to not know the Michael Capone.'' He mocks and grins when he sees he has successfully pissed me off.

''You think this is funny?''

"No. Never.'' He smiles. "I just think I'm about to witness a love story, that's all. So when do I get to meet the bride Mike?"

"I will say it again. Fuck you. Let's go. I'm already sick of your ass."

He laughed out loud as I walked out of the office.
