Chapter 2: The Devil’s Contract

last update 公開日: 2026-07-15 06:04:44

I must have lost my mind.

That was the only logical explanation for why I was currently sitting in the back of a sleek, black SUV with heavily tinted windows, speeding away from the Icefang pack lands I had called home for eighteen agonizing years.

The fabric of my emerald dress was still damp from the tears I’d wept in the woods. My chest still throbbed with the raw, bleeding phantom pain of Ryker’s shattered mate bond.

And yet, here I was—sitting directly across from the most dangerously beautiful guy I had ever laid eyes on.

Dominic Garcia didn’t just project power; he wore it like a second skin. He was a senior at Blackwood Academy, our rival school, and the captain of the Blackwood Reapers—the brutal, undefeated hockey team that had been war-declared against Ryker’s Silverfang Predators for generations.

Sitting there, his broad shoulders stretching the fabric of his tailored black shirt, his silver eyes tracking my every breath, my inner wolf stirred. It was a dark, trembling reaction that Ryker’s cruel rejection had tried to kill.

"You’re quiet," Dominic said, his voice a low, smooth baritone that vibrated straight to my core. "Regretting your decision already, little wolf?"

I lifted my chin, refusing to let him see how much I was shaking.

"I don’t regret wanting to destroy Ryker. I just… don’t know what 'complete submission' actually means to a monster like you."

A slow, predatory smile curved his lips. "It means for the next three days, you belong to me. Your body. Your time. Your obedience. In return, I will help you ruin Ryker Blackthorn so thoroughly that by the time the state championship hockey game is over, he’ll wish he’d never been born."

My stomach flipped. It was a volatile mix of terrifying panic and a dark, forbidden spike of excitement.

"And what if I say no?" I asked, keeping my voice as steady as possible.

Dominic leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. He invaded my personal space without ever laying a finger on me, his rich scent of cedarwood and fresh rain wrapping around me like a velvet leash.

"You can say no, Elara. But every time you do, I’ll only make you want to say yes. I don’t force myself on people. I charm them. I break down every single one of your walls until you’re begging me to take what I want."

Heat flooded my cheeks. I hated how instantly my body betrayed me—the sudden tightness in my chest, the way my thighs instinctively pressed together under his heavy gaze.

The SUV finally pulled up to a massive, ultra-modern estate on the sheer cliffs of the Blackwood territory.

It was isolated, surrounded by dense pine forests, and completely hidden from the prying eyes of my old pack.

Dominic stepped out first, rounding the car to open my door. He offered his hand. When I took it, his grip was firm, shockingly warm, and intensely possessive.

Inside, the house was a masterpiece of dark wood, towering glass walls, and low, ambient lighting that made the entire world outside disappear. He led me up a grand staircase and into a massive bedroom dominated by a king-sized bed draped in black silk.

"First rule," Dominic murmured, closing the heavy oak door behind us with a soft, final click. "When we are behind closed doors, you call me Sir."

My breath hitched. "Sir?"

He stepped closer, his chest nearly brushing mine, forcing me to tilt my head back just to meet those mesmerizing silver eyes. "Good girl. You learn fast."

Those two words sent a shameful, electric spark straight down my spine.

Dominic’s fingers brushed against my jawline, his thumb catching on my bottom lip and tilting my face up.

"You’re breathtaking when you’re angry, Elara. Ryker is a blind fool to have rejected you. I’m going to enjoy watching you fall apart for me."

I swallowed hard, my heart hammering against my ribs. "This is just a game to you, isn’t it? Just a way to get under the Icefang captain's skin?"

His thumb traced the outline of my lower lip, his gaze dropping to my mouth. "At first, maybe. But looking at you now? This is quickly becoming personal."

He didn't kiss me. He didn't have to. The raw promise burning in his silver eyes was enough to make my knees weak.

"Strip," he ordered softly, his voice leaving no room for argument. "Slowly."

I didn’t know when my hands shook violently as It reached behind my back for the zipper of my dress. Every instinct told me this was madness. I didn’t know this guy why was I doing what he commanded against my will?

He was the enemy. But the agonizing memory of Ryker holding my stepsister Cynthia, declaring her his chosen Luna while the pack laughed at my body, pushed me over the edge.

I pulled the zipper down even tho I realized it was his alpha command that was controlling me. The emerald silk slipped off my shoulders, pooling at my feet and leaving me standing in nothing but my black lace underwear.

I held my breath, bracing myself for the judgment, the pity, the disgust I had faced my entire life.

Instead, Dominic’s gaze darkened to a deep, stormy charcoal. His eyes slowly roamed over my body—lingering on my full breasts, the soft curve of my stomach, my wide hips, and my thick thighs. A low, gravelly growl vibrated in his chest.

"Fucking perfect," he muttered, his voice thick with sudden, unbridled hunger. "Every single inch of you."

He stepped forward, his dominant aura trapping me against the edge of the mattress until I had no choice but to sit down. He dropped to his knees in front of me, his strong hands gripping my thighs and spreading them wide.

"Tell me, Elara," he whispered, his hot breath ghosting over the lace of my panties, making me shiver violently. "Have you ever had a real man show you how gorgeous you are? Or has that high school boy only made you feel small?"

"No one..." I whispered, my voice trembling. "No one has ever looked at me like this."

Dominic looked up, a fierce, protective darkness in his eyes. "Then tonight, I’m going to ruin you for anyone else. By the time I’m done with you, Ryker’s touch will feel like absolute ice."

He leaned in, his lips brushing against the sensitive skin of my inner thigh, and my world tilted completely off its axis.

I wasn't just doing this for revenge anymore. I wanted this. I wanted him.

But as his hands slid up my hips, the sound of a sudden, violent crash echoed from the floor below, shattering the silence of the estate.

The third period began with an eerie, unnatural hush that draped over the arena like a shroud. The blood-soaked excitement from the previous intermission had mutated into something cold, tense, and entirely volatile. As I stood in the dim, narrow concrete passageway of the lower south corridor, the distant, muffled thwack of hockey sticks hitting the ice echoed like gunfire.Kaelen stood a few paces away, completely enveloped by the deep shadows of a recessed equipment alcove. He had stripped off his bulky hockey pads, now wearing only his black Reapers training shirt and jeans. His massive, scarred frame was entirely motionless, his dark eyes fixed on the entrance of the tunnel. He was a silent predator waiting for the bait to be taken. My phone buzzed in my hand. A text from Chloe: Cynthia bit. She told Ryker you’re alone in the south hall. He’s skating off the ice under the guise of an equipment malfunction in two minutes. The lights are going down.My fingers trembled as I gripp

The final period was delayed. The arena was a powder keg, the air thick with the suffocating scent of aggressive Alpha auras clashing across the ice. Down the hall, the muffled shouting of Icefang officials arguing with the league executives echoed off the concrete walls.I stood in the cramped medical bay, my back pressed against the cold wall. Kaelen remained stationed at the door like a silent gargoyle of pure muscle, his dark eyes never leaving the corridor. Dominic and the twins had gone back out to the tunnel to deal with the refs, leaving me with Asher, who was currently leaning back on the examination table, his breathing finally leveling out under the soothing residue of our freshly ignited mate bond.Suddenly, a frantic commotion outside made Kaelen straighten. His hand dropped instinctively to his side, his posture shifting into a lethal, defensive stance."Let me through! I need to see her!"My heart stumbled. Chloe?"Let her in, Kaelen," I called out, my voice tight.Ka

The VIP box was a glass fortress overlooking a war zone. Down on the ice, the second period hadn’t just started; it had exploded. The referee’s whistle was completely drowned out by the bloodlust of the crowd and the brutal, metallic crunch of pads smashing into the plexiglass boards."Holy hell," Chloe whispered, her fingers gripping the brass railing of the suite so hard her knuckles turned white. "Dominic wasn’t lying. They are playing to kill."I couldn't answer. My throat was completely dry. I stood pressed against the glass, my eyes locked onto the black-and-silver streak that was Dominic Garcia. He was a force of pure, untamed destruction on the ice. Every time Ryker even touched the puck, Dominic was there, a towering shadow that slammed the Icefang prince into the boards with enough force to rattle the glass all the way up to our suite.Good, Lupine growled in my chest, her silver claws unsheathing in my mind. Let him shatter the boy who broke us and embarrassed us in front

The roar of the crowd outside the locker room walls was a deafening, rhythmic vibration that shook the very concrete beneath my sneakers. The Blackwood Reapers had just skate-shuffled down the tunnel for a quick intermission, but the atmosphere inside the away-team locker room was far from celebratory. It was thick with the copper scent of fresh blood, toxic testosterone, and a suffocating wall of Alpha pressure.I stood tucked away in the corner near the equipment trunks, still wrapped in the oversized black-and-silver Reapers hoodie Dominic had shoved into my hands before the puck dropped."Sit down, Vance!" Dominic’s voice didn't just command; it shattered the air. He ripped his helmet off, his dark hair plastered to his forehead with sweat, his silver eyes flashing a dangerous, luminescent white.Across the room, Asher slammed his goalie blocker against the metal benches, a rare, terrifying snarl ripping from his throat. The lazy, teasing smirk he usually wore at school was compl

Five pairs of eyes locked onto me.Time seemed to freeze in the crowded high school hallway. Dominic, standing at the center of the dangerous quintet, slowly let his lips curl into a lazy, devastating smirk. He lifted a hand, casually waving two fingers at me in a silent, possessive greeting. My heart did a violent flip. Heat surged up my neck, turning my cheeks a bright, furious crimson. Before I could think, before I could let those silver eyes trap me again, I spun on my heel, abandoned my fallen books, and sprinted down the hallway.I burst into the girls’ restroom, letting the heavy door slam shut behind me. Leaning against the cold tile wall, I pressed my hands to my burning face, trying to force air into my lungs. What are you doing?! Lupine roared in my mind, her inner wolf pacing with a wild, euphoric energy. Go back! Go back to them!"Are you insane?" I gasped aloud to the empty bathroom. "Lupine, what do you mean mates? Five of them? That’s impossible! Ryker was our fated

Dominic’s thumb froze against my bottom lip. The heavy warmth in his silver eyes evaporated in a split second, replaced by a cold, hard mask of sheer disbelief."You’ve got to be kidding me, right?" his voice was flat, dangerously quiet. He stared down at me as if waiting for me to laugh, to tell him it was all a sick joke.I shook my head, desperately clutching the velvet throw tighter around my shivering body. "I'm not kidding. I can't do this, Dominic. I want to go home. The deal is over.""The deal is over?" He scoffed, stepping back. The sudden loss of his body heat made me cold. He dragged a hand through his dark hair, a bitter, dark chuckle escaping his throat. "We haven't even started, Elara. Don’t you want revenge? Don't you want to watch Ryker crawl on his knees after what he did to you tonight?""I don't know!" I cried, the tears finally spilling over my lashes, hot and stinging. "I’m confused! He’s my fated mate, Dominic. The pain in my chest... it feels like I'm dying. I
