LYRA'S POV

The morning sun filtered through the tall windows of the Moonshadow Pack’s cafeteria, casting long shadows across the wooden tables. I sat alone, picking at a plate of scrambled eggs and toast I’d ordered from the kitchen staff, trying to calm the storm in my head.

The events of last night, Alpha Jerome’s note, the mysterious figure, the fixed door handle, and the chilling realization that someone was manipulating us kept replaying in my mind.

My fork hovered over the plate, I lost my appetite as I stared at the food.

A movement outside caught my eye. Through the glass doors leading to the garden, I spotted Ronan leaning against a tree, his sharp gaze locked on me. He tilted his head slightly, his eyes narrowing in a subtle signal come here. My pulse quickened.

He clearly had something to tell me, something he didn’t want to say in front of others.

Before I could move, a low voice spoke. “You seem distracted. Heavy thoughts for breakfast?”

I turned, startled, to s

  • Howl of the Broken Luna   Chapter Nineteen

LYRA’S POV My eyes blurred open. It was morning. I lay recklessly in bed and had finally gotten some rest. Silas wasn't there. “Good morning, Lyra,” Mary greeted with a calm smile on her face. “Good morning, Mary. You haven't by any chance seen Silas, have you?” I asked. “Yes, he and Ronan went for their morning run,” she answered. “But you really have a charm, don't you? I mean, you're the first person I've ever seen with Silas,” she said. “Oh, c'mon, Mary… it's nothing.” “Nothing? You got yourself curled up on him, and you call that nothing? I am older than you, Lyra. I've seen a lot of things, and I know a girl in love when I see one,” she added. “There's nothing, Mary. I'm out of here,” I laughed. “C’mon, tell me, what happened last night?” she teased. “Nothing!” I said, getting up from the bed before realizing that I was half-naked. I couldn't hide it anymore. “...That explains the stench that slapped my face when I came in,” she said. “But Lyra, you've got to be carefu

  • Howl of the Broken Luna   Chapter Eighteen

LYRA'S POV “You can’t be serious,” Silas muttered, staring at the hidden door that had just slid open. “We have to see what’s in there,” Ronan said, his voice, his eyes glinting with determination. I stepped forward, my heart pounding as we entered. The room beyond was like a secret lab, cluttered and eerie. A large table sat in the center, covered in maps, papers, graphs, and diagrams scattered like someone had been frantically working. The air smelled of old paper and something sharp, almost like blood. We crowded around the table, my eyes drawn to the strange drawings. The diagrams showed creatures,bhuman-like but wrong, with long fangs, or claws too sharp for any wolf. My breath caught as I read the handwritten notes: Hybridization Process: Wolf Blood Integration. Words like “vampire” and “Dracula strain” were scrawled everywhere, alongside charts about mixing wolf blood to create a hybrid, half wolf, half something monstrous. “This can’t be real,” I whispered, my fingers tr

  • Howl of the Broken Luna   Chapter Sixteen

LYRA'S POVI was really confused. What’s the issue now? Am I hallucinating? Am I losing my mind? A door handle that was broken suddenly got fixed in seconds. What’s going on in here? Then I remembered Alpha Jerome's writing, “1122.” Could it be a code to something in Alpha Jerome's library? I wanted to go in, even though Mary strictly warned me, “No one goes there,” she said. But there must be something there that may have caused that.I’m confused. I can’t go there alone after what I just witnessed. I’ll have to wait, maybe Silas or Ronan might be of help to me.The mansion’s door swung open, and Ronan and Silas walked in, their faces heavy with disappointment and exhaustion. The air around them felt thick, it was clear they carried bad news.I rushed toward them, my heart pounding. “What did the doctor say?”Silas looked at me. “It’s bad, Lyra. The pack doctor said Dad’s dying, fast. Whatever’s in his blood, it’s eating him alive. They’ve ruled out wolfsbane completely now. It’s som

  • Howl of the Broken Luna   Chapter Fifteen

LYRA'S POV I sat with Ronan and Silas, trying to uncover what could have caused the attack on both Eamon and Alpha Jerome. "Even wolfsbane can't be that lethal when attended to," Ronan said, his brow furrowed in frustration. "It must be something else, something more. Someone we don’t know about must be involved in this," he added, his voice tense. "Seriously... I just can’t handle this anymore," I snarled, my hands gripping the edge of the table. "Wait, you hear that?" Silas asked, his head tilting. "Hear what?" The sound of sirens grew louder from a distance before stopping at the mansion’s gate. Mr. Jerome was brought in on a wheelchair, a drip attached to the chair, connected to a vein in his right arm. It had been four days since the doctor told us he was stable, but it didn’t seem so. Alpha Jerome couldn’t speak or move his body; it was as if he was almost paralyzed. Only his left hand had a little energy to twitch slightly. The medics pushed Alpha Jerome’s w
