Chapter 4

Author: lvy
Selfish. Can't bear children.

So that was his truth.

Victoria hid in his arms, the corner of her mouth twitching into an imperceptible, cold smirk.

Eric was busy checking if the fetus was harmed; he didn't even spare me a glance.

I lay on the floor, staring at the trampled family photo.

Suddenly, it didn't hurt anymore.

When the heart dies, you stop feeling the pain.

Just then, Victoria, who had been huddled in his arms, suddenly shuddered violently. Her face went pale in an instant. She clutched her stomach tightly, gasping in terror.

"Ah... Alpha... my stomach... it hurts so much..."

Eric panicked immediately, holding her tight. "What's wrong? Is the baby in distress?"

Victoria looked up at him with fear in her eyes. "Eric, I'm so scared..."

She grabbed Eric's collar, her voice trembling. " The Luna just said... she said she would wait until I was asleep tonight, cut open my belly, and kill the baby... Eric, for the sake of the child, can you send the Luna to the Border Villa for a while? Just until I give birth... please..."

"Bella wouldn't do that." Eric frowned, instinctively trying to deny it.

"Of course she would!" Megan stormed over with two werewolf warriors, glaring at me coldly.

"Jealousy and betrayal are what humans do best. Eric, Victoria is carrying our future Wolf King. We cannot risk a single mistake." Megan stepped up to Eric, pointing a finger at my nose as she issued her ultimatum.

"Eric, if you don't send this woman to the Border Villa immediately, I will have the guards kill her right now for the safety of my grandson!"

"Mother!" Eric cried out, stepping in front of me, his face twisted in painful conflict. "Don't do this. Bella is my mate..."

"Mate? A mate who wants to kill your heir?" Megan pressed closer. "Choose one, Eric. Send her away, or I snap her neck right now. You know I'll do it."

Eric hesitated for a few seconds. Finally, avoiding my gaze, he spoke in a rasping voice. "...Fine. Send her to the border."

Buried in his chest, the corner of Victoria's mouth finally curled into a subtle, cold smirk.

I didn't argue. I calmly got into the black SUV waiting to escort me.

The moment the door closed, I sent a message to Alex:

Plan changed. Pick me up at the Border Villa in one hour.

I thought this might be for the best.

The Border Villa was far from the heart of the Pack, making it easier for Alex to get me out.

But half an hour into the drive, a tearing pain suddenly ripped through my lower abdomen.

Blood gushed from between my legs, soaking my jeans.

I instantly realized I was pregnant. And I was miscarrying.

The child I thought I could never have was actually inside me.

"Stop the car! Turn around!"

Clutching my stomach, cold sweat mixed with tears streamed down my face.

"Take me to the hospital! Hurry!"

The werewolf guard driving glanced at me coldly through the rearview mirror and pressed harder on the gas.

The guard in the passenger seat scoffed. "Drop the act. You were fine a minute ago, now suddenly your stomach hurts? You human women are so dramatic when you want attention."

The bleeding got worse, and my consciousness began to fade.

A human hospital couldn't save a werewolf hybrid fetus; only a Pack Healer could save him.

With trembling hands, I dialed Eric.

I couldn't just watch my child turn into a pool of blood.

"Eric..." My voice was weak, barely holding onto consciousness. "Help me... I'm bleeding... Save our child... send me to the medical center..."

There was a second of silence on the other end, followed by a low growl of suppressed rage.

"Enough! Bella, there's a limit to your lies!"

"You are human! There has never been a case of a human carrying an Alpha's bloodline!"

"First you frame Victoria with a dagger, now you're faking a miscarriage? When did you become so manipulative?"

My heart went cold as I felt the life in my belly slipping away bit by bit.

Just then, Victoria's sickly sweet voice came from the background:

"Eric... I think the baby just kicked! It hurts... come feel it..."

Eric's tone shifted instantly from rage to nervous tenderness. "Don't be scared, I'm coming."

The call ended.

The phone slipped from my hand. The agonizing pain swallowed me like a tidal wave.

I passed out in total despair.

My last thought before the darkness took me was:

Eric, you killed this child with your own hands.

When I woke up again, I was lying on the cold floor of the Border Villa.

The guards were long gone.

I instinctively touched my lower abdomen.

The little life was gone.

The deafening roar of a propeller sounded above the villa.

Alex kicked the front door open.

When he saw me—pale and covered in blood—this man, who usually killed without blinking on the battlefield, instantly had red-rimmed eyes.

He rushed over and picked me up with extreme care. "I'm sorry, Bella... I'm late."

"Take me away," I rasped, leaning against his chest. "And blow this place up."

Alex nodded and carried me onto the helicopter.

BOOM—!!!

Fire shot into the sky as the massive explosion leveled the entire mountain.

You're the only one who can wake his will to live."However, Bella's voice on the other end was calm to the point of cruelty."Mrs. Megan, I think you're mistaken. There is no 'past' between Eric and me,
