Chapter 4

(Carlisle)

I wake up with the worst migraine, my head feels like it has been stepped upon a thousand times, struggling to open my eyes. Raising my hands, I try to get a feel of my surroundings. Lastly, I remembered I was in the forest being grabbed by trees, letting out a scream, my eyes flying open.

I’m in a room of some sort with decor that seems expensive but dark and there’s a girl not much younger than me staring at me with wide eyes, the bowl of soup she’s holding clutters noisily to the ground as she stares at me. “Uhm hi? Where am I?”

Instead of granting me a reply, she takes steps backwards and races out of the room, shaking my head at that awkward encounter, I continue to survey my surroundings. The room is painted brown with small splatters of white as if to give it life. The draping looked like they had the same material as that of the one in the throne room back at my father’s palace... “the palace, father” I murmured to myself. I need to get out of here and find a way back home. I could not afford miss father’s burial, pulling at the bedding used to cover me up, I try to set my feet on the ground and walk but I hadn’t moved far before my feet gives out, “Ouch”

How long have I been laying down for? I whisper go myself

“What are you doing?!” Snapping my head up at the voice, my eyes met with the most beautiful sight I had ever seen, this must be heaven. The man standing at the door of the room staring at me with an intense look in his eyes. He looked very much like a god, with gray eyes and brown hair, he looked like something out of the books I would often sneak to read with my friends at the palace.

Blinking, I realize he is still talking to me, “are you okay? Is it okay if I lift you up?

“Y-ye-uhm yes, please.”

Bending down to where I laid on the floor, he put his hands around my waist and my legs and lifted me up, laying me carefully on the bed and covering me up once again. “Were you trying to leave? You have been asleep for two days, your body needs rest.”

“What? Two days? Who are you and where am I? Why does your voice sound familiar?”

“One at a time, my lady. First, my voice may sound family because I rescued you and you are in the home of the Alpha of the blue moon pack. I am the Alpha and also your mate.”

“You are my what?”

(Damon)

She looked so shocked when I told her she was my mate, like she couldn’t understand what I was saying. I tried to search my memory for stories about the Fae. Did they also have mates?

“Your mate? I’m a fae, you are a wolf, that’s not possible”

“So it would seem but my wolf’s instincts do not lie and it tells me that you are my long awaited mate.”

She turned up her head and stared wide eyed at me, like she could not fully comprehend what I was saying. I had to stop. She’d just woken up after being asleep for two days, she needed rest and food.

“I apologize. I forgot my manners, you must be tired and famished, you were asleep for two days and before that you were in the dark forest, it must have been a scary time for you. When you are well rested and cared for, we can discuss more on this and I’ll answer all the questions you may have. For now, I’ll send a maid to you to help you, is that okay?”

She nodded her head meekly and avoided my eyes.

“Alright. I’ll get out of your hair and let you be now.”

Giving her a small smile, I turned and left my room which had now become hers. I’d have to discuss switching rooms with her, until she was ready to become my Luna. Smiling at the thought, I almost missed my sister rushing towards me, “Damon! There you are, is she truly awake? How's she? Will she be your Luna now?”

“Wow wow, slow down buttercup. It is far too early for these questions. She must be tired, please go get the maid that was watching her, tell her to bring appropriate clothing and something to eat. She must be famished and I assume she’d want to clean up.”

“Alright, I’ll go do that now.” Ruffling her hair, I kissed her forehead.

“Thank you buttercup.”

(Carlisle)

My mind was running in circles, a mate? To a wolf? Another reason to be an odd one out. Even in my father’s kingdom, I had lived feeling like the strange one and even here, I couldn’t escape it?

My mother had abandoned me for my father as soon as I was born, all I knew was I was half fae and half of my mother, what the half of my mother was, I had yet to figure out, could I be half wolf? Would that be possible?

“My lady?” Snapping out of my thoughts, I find the maid who I had seen earlier when I woke up standing at the edge of the bed with a tray of food, with a girl that looked around my age hiding being her with what looked like clothing.

“Hi?”

“The Alpha asked us to bring you a meal and clothing, should you be interested in cleaning up, this here at my back is the younger sister of the Alpha, Lady Arabell. I am Aurora and I’ll be your maid.”

The Alpha’s sister poked her head out and waved “Hello.”

“Uhm, hello? I’m Carlisle, thank you for your kindness, I’d like to clean up before I eat, if that’s okay?”

“Of course my lady, I’ll go get the water ready for you.”

The maid Aurora quickly made her way to the door at the end of the room I was in, oh that must be the bathroom.

Left with the Alpha’s sister who seems a bit shy, I didn’t know what to say to her as I had no clue on how to address the sister of my supposed mate “uhm, do you want to come sit?”

“Oh, I’m sorry, I’m just nervous, the entire pack has been expecting my brother’s mate for years on end and now, here you are”

“Years?”

“Yes, Damon didn’t tell you?”

“He said he’d be back to discuss things after I was properly fed and rested.”

“Oh, we’ve been expecting you for decades, my brother is a 103 now so it’s been a long time and..”

“He’s what?!”
