Claire had deliberately set an alarm to wake up early the next morning so she could make breakfast and coax Ethan.

But when she opened her eyes, it was already past the time she had set.

There were faint noises coming from the kitchen.

She immediately threw off the covers, got out of bed, and walked to the kitchen door.

Ethan was just coming out carrying breakfast.

He glanced at her briefly, his expression indifferent.

After placing the plate on the table, he turned around and went back into the kitchen.

Claire pursed her lips.

“Did you turn off my alarm?”

With his back facing her, Ethan poured milk into a glass and answered curtly.

“Yes.”

Claire : “..."

Even a fool could tell that Ethan didn't want to talk to her.

Claire wisely turned around and went to wash up.

The two of them ate breakfast in silence before leaving the apartment together.

Claire remained distracted the entire day at work.

Sandra noticed and came over.

“What's wrong with you?"

Claire looked at her.

“Do you know any way to coax a man?"

Sandra blinked in surprise.

“Coax who?”

Claire hesitated before answering.

“My boyfriend..”

Better not mention “husband”

Her marriage with Ethan wouldn't last long anyway, and she didn't feel like explaining things if people asked.

It was easier to avoid trouble.

Sandra had always assumed Claire was single, since she freguently went on blind dates.

Naturally, she was surprised.

“When did you get a boyfriend?"

“Recently." 

Claire lied again.

She suddenly realized she had told more lies recently than she had in her entire previous life.

What a mess.

Sandra quickly accepted the news.“So what did you do to upset him?”

Claire scratched her head.

“Well…there was a misunderstanding.”

“A misunderstanding? Then just explain it."

“I can't explain it."

Sandra frowned.

“How could that be? Any misunderstanding can be explained... unless it's not actually a misunderstanding!”

Claire : “..."

"Fine. I'm not talking to you anymore!”

Sandra leaned closer instead.

“Actually, men are easy to coax. Just hug him, kiss him, or give him a little surprise in bed. He'll calm down immediately."

Claire :“..”

Her eyes widened as she stared at Sandra.

She looked so innocent, yet she was surprisingly bold.

Sandra pulled out her phone and opened G****e, searching for several revealing outfits.

“Pick one of these. Your boyfriend will definitely like it. At that point, he won't even remember why he was angry!" 

Claire gulped, “Are you trying to kill me?"

She immediately pushed the phone away.

“Take it away! I'm not wearing something like that."

Sandra laughed.

"Oh come on, we're all adults. Don't be shy~"

Claire scooted farther away from her, “Stop trying to corrupt my mind!"

Sandra had joined the company two years earlier and had been dating the same boyfriend since freshman year.

Suddenly, she seemed to realize something.

“You and your boyfriend haven't done that yet, have you?”

Claire nodded.

Sandra fell silent.

It made sense for someone inexperienced to be shy.

“In that case, you don't need to prepare anything," she said confidently.

“Just strip naked and pounce on him. He'll definitely calm down!"

Claire refused to talk to her anymore.

This woman kept suggesting she sell her body.

Absolutely not!

After work, while her colleagues were still seated, Claire grabbed her bag and left early.

She planned to buy groceries and cook dinner while waiting for Ethan to come home.

Since he had made breakfast, dinner would be her chance to show off.

After returning to the apartment, she cooked two dishes and a soup.

Once the table was set, she glanced at the clock. 

It was already seven.

Why wasn't Ethan back yet?

She picked up her phone and sent him a message.

[When are you coming back?]

Half an hour later, he replied.

[Working overtime.]

Claire's face immediately fell.

Looks like all her efforts were wasted.

Without Ethan there, she lost her appetite. She only ate a small bowl of rice before stopping.

The rest of the food went into the refrigerator.

At the company, Justin Grant, was about to leave with his coat when he noticed Ethan still siting in front of his computer.

He was holding his phone, seemingly lost in thought.

Justin walked over and patted his shoulder.

“Why aren't you leaving yet?”

Ethan turned off the screen.

But Justin had already caught a glimpse.

It was a W******p chat history with Claire.

He raised an eyebrow.

“What did Claire do to offend you this time?”

Ethan didn't answer.

Justin sighed.

“I really don't understand you. What's so good about Claire that you're this devoted?”

“She's not as innocent as she looks. She's clearly just playing with you, but you took it seriously!”

“You even borrowed money from Kyle to rent an apartment and buy that diamond ring. Is someone like her really worth your sincerity?"

Justin genuinely couldn't understand.

In his opinion, aside from being pretty, Claire had nothing that would make Ethan fall for her so deeply.

Ethan slowly turned his head.

His gaze grew noticeably colder.

Justin awkwardly shut his mouth.

“Alright, alright, I'll stop talking," he said with a helpless shrug. 

“Do whatever you want. When you get completely fooled by her, you'll be the one suffering.”

Ethan spoke calmly, “What exactly did she fool me out of?"

Justin replied bluntly, “Your feelings.!"

Ethan gave a bitter smile.

“My feelings are the only thing she's worth fooling me for."

Justin paused before patting his shoulder. “Don't be like this,okay?"

Ethan stood up, picked up his coat, and walked out.

Justin could only shake his head helplessly.

Back at the apartment, Claire washed the dishes, cleaned the kitchen, took a shower, and curled up in bed scrolling through her phone.

Just then, Roseline sent several voice messages.

“Claire, did you register on a few more dating websites like I told you?”

“Our neighbor, Carol, has a distant niece who married into Bellmont. She's living well now in a big villa and has a Mercedes car!”

“She has an older son who's still unmarried. He's thirty-eight"

"I showed your photo to Carol, and she passed it to her niece!”

“She seems quite satisfied with you and wants to meet you.”

"Tomorrow is Saturday, so you don't have work. I'll send you the address later. Remember to go!"

Claire stared at the screen in disbelief.

Was this really the original owner's biological mother?

A thirty-eight-year-old man..introduced to her.

She was only twenty-two!

She angrily typed a reply.

[Not going.]

Roseline immediately called.

Claire hung up.

A second later, another voice message arrived.

Just then, she suddenly heard the door open.

Looking up, she saw Ethan walking inside.

She froze.

Wasn't he supposed to be working overtime?

Why was he back?

At that moment, Roseline's voice played from the phone.

“He may be older, but he's wealthy and comes from a good family. You should at least meet him."

"Older men are mature and stable. They know how to take care of people.”

“I've already sent you the address. You must go tomorrow!"

Claire's eyes widened.

She hurriedly turned off the phone.
