Ashley's POV

The deeper we ventured into the pack, the less certain it became that we would get to the Seer. Silence, enveloping us all like a shroud, made it easy to note a dark bird or rustling leaves beneath our feet.

"Who has an idea where we're heading to please?" Arin who walked behind me asked.

"The path to hell did we take," Leo replied, Arin scoffing and patting his shoulder. But each step for us seemed heavier than the one earlier, more like the ground itself was reluctant and unwilling to let us pass.

"No signs, paths, nothing!!" Arin complained.

" We're being tested perhaps," Leo added. " But we've long failed!!"

We all chuckled as he said this. It seemed to arouse our sense of humor and made us feel free and loosened.

We gradually moved deeper and deeper into the ancient pack, the cold sensation that followed quiet terrifying. I shivered, clutching my cloak tighter around me. The chill I felt at that point wasn't only from the cold. It was the feeling of being swallo

Ashley's POVWe waited, the passage of time not really significant in any way. The passage of time was indeed difficult to measure, where even the shadows that passed danced in a particular rhythm. "Never knew the Seer would be kind as such," David said, turning to me with a smile. His eyes were excited and I could see that he had complete trust in the Seer. But was it supposed to be so? I let my eyes wonder around the room as we waited for her, observing the entire room more carefully than I had done before. I noted the twisting and interlocking symbols that was in familiar shape and pattern with the one we had back in the Alchemy. "Strikes a chord?" David asked, tracing my gaze. I nodded, stealing a glance at him and feigning a smile. "But this doesn't seem right in any way." He turned to me, amazed. "What do you mean?" I turned to him eagerly, my eyes meeting his. "Look at the marks, how do you perceive them?" David furrowed his eyebrows, stealing a glance at me and back a

Ashley's POVMy lips parted in wonder, but no words just came out. The seer's stare held me in place, her eyes, ever golden and ancient seemed to peel back the layers of my soul. "What do you mean?" I finally asked her, my voice quite low and uncertain. "What do you mean death clings to me." At first, there was general silence in the room. David and Leo had long sheated their claws and felt the calmness that I felt around the Seer. So they just watched in awe. She suddenly laughed. It burst out from her throat like a thunderclap, rich and ringing and echoing around the ancient room. It seemed to rattle through the walls, the lanterns above trembled in response. And with the effective force of her laughter, her hood slipped. "Oops," she exclaimed, turning naturally to grab the hood but it was already on the ground. We all gasped as we saw her face for the first time. David drew in a deep breath, Leo too staggered widely, his eyes wide. Her skin shimmered like ageless wine kiss

Ashley's POVWe locked the door behind us, still hearing Arin's voice as they tore him to pieces. "Fuck!!!" Leo screamed, rushing to the door and attempting to pull it open, but David and I quickly got hold of him and pulled him backwards. "Pull yourself together Leo," David commanded, pulling him towards the wall adjacent us. Holding him till Arin's voice was no longer heard, we watched as he calmed down and slowly move away from him. The silence in the room was almost deadening, broken only by our ragged breaths. "What's this place," I mumbled to myself, turning around slowly as my eyes adjusted to the lights coming from a distance. Lanterns hung from carved wooden beams overhead, the air thick with the terrible scent of lavender, burnt sage and something much older, much renown. I trembled slightly at the thought of it. "No way. You percieve that right?" I asked David who stood before me. "Yeah, it doesn't smell good," he replied, his eyes fixed on a certain point in the ro

Ashley's POV"We don't have much time left David," I stated, growing impatient and tired of just about everything. He turned to me sharply, obviously irritated by what I said. "And that's that supposed to mean? We're all in this together Ashley." "I know we are, but it's getting just impossible. Just take a look behind us..." "Those beasts dare not be merciful Beta," Arin chipped in an interruption. "Do we turn and fight or forge forward into the cottage?" "We'd ve dead either ways," Leo revealed, looking up to the vibrant moon as it casted it's light on us. "But the moon light isn't a full one. What's with the transformations?" "Quiet!!" David roared, turning around and facing us fully. "I'll need just enough time to think things through!!""Take all the time you need Beta David, " Arin started to say. "Yeah Beta, all the time you need," Leo completed. "One more word from you both, you'll be killed and sent to the wolves before they move on more inch, " I warned, shooting a fi

  • I Am The Alpha's Rejected Mate    Chapter 88

Ashley's POVDavid’s claws extended again, his whole body tensing like a pulled bowstring. "She's our healer. She's not going anywhere."The others snarled lowly, a chorus of rusted growls vibrating the ground. But still, they did not attack. Not yet. The leader leaned closer, his scarred nostrils flaring as he sniffed the air around David and then me."You wish entry," he said finally, "then leave her here.""What?" Arin said immediately, a sharp edge in his voice. "That’s not happening."The leader’s pale eyes moved to him, slow and deliberate. "The girl stays. You go."David stepped forward again, chest heaving, his hands now clenched into fists. "We're not leaving her anywhere. You want to guard your sacred halls? Fine. But this isn’t a negotiation where we sacrifice one of our own for passage.""Then you won't pass, it's fair," one of them replied, smiling and revealing a set of dark teeth in the moonlight. I took a step towards David, tugging his shirt. "We have no time you kno
