View MoreZara sat quietly across the table as she watched the mating ceremony planner enthusiastically flip through her notebook.
Freshly cut roses and lavender samples filled the air, and the golden glow of the afternoon sun streamed through the large windows of the Alpha’s residence.
Every detail of their ceremony was being sorted and arranged, and though Zara was grateful for the care and attention, she couldn’t help but feel a little out of place.
“Lilac and gold” the planner declared, holding up a piece of shimmering fabric and a delicate bouquet tied with a golden ribbon. “It’s symbolic for prosperity and eternal unity which is truly fitting for the son of the Alpha and his mate,”
Zara smiled faintly, her hands folded neatly in her lap. She felt out of her element in such a setting, surrounded by luxury and tradition. It wasn’t her world, not really.
Her mother’s reputation still lingered in the air like a shadow, even if no one dared to say anything outright. A promiscuous woman who had somehow found favor with the Beta.
Zara had grown up hearing whispers, feeling the judgment in the eyes of others. She never let it show, but it had shaped her. She was determined to prove that she was more than her mother’s daughter, and that she was worthy of being Jackson’s mate.
“You don’t like it?” Jackson asked softly beside her, breaking her train of thought. His dark eyes were fixed on her, his eyes carrying a little teasing look.
“What?” she asked, clearly startled.
“The colors,” he said, tilting his head slightly. “You’re probably thinking about whether you can stomach a room full of lilac and gold for hours aren’t you?”
Zara's face reddened with embarrassment, her cheeks warming under his gaze. He always saw through her so easily, peeling back her defenses like layers of an onion. “No, it’s... lovely” she said, though her hesitation betrayed her.
The planner joyfully clapped her hands, not even noticing the drama playing out between them. “Lovely! It's settled then. I'll make the final floral arrangements alongside the table settings.”
Zara wasn't entirely convinced of it all, but she nodded still in a polite manner. Jackson however seemed to be enjoying himself, relaxed on the chair with his hands dangling lazily over the backrest and watching her with amusement.
As the planner gathered her materials and prepared to leave, Zara felt Jackson’s hand brush against hers under the table. It was a brief touch but the effect was electric. His touch always had that effect over her no matter how many times they kissed or touched.
As soon as the planner left, Jackson turned fully to her with inquisitive eyes. “You know you don't just have to agree to everything right? Just because she's an expert doesn't mean you have to wear lilac and gold as she says, you can always pick something else.”
Zara loved the affection in his eyes. “I don’t hate it,” She said quickly. “I just... I don’t want to mess anything up,”
He frowned. “Mess what up? Zara this is our ceremony, It’s about us and not the colors, or the flowers, or what anyone else thinks.”
Her fingers twisted in her laps as she looked away. “I know Jackson, I just want everything to be perfect for you” she said softly.
“For us” Jackson corrected, his voice all calm and supportive. “And it already is, because it’s you and me, don’t forget that.”
Zara felt a lump rise in her throat at his words. She nodded, swallowing hard as she looked up at him. His face was so familiar, so comforting, and yet it still took her breath away. Before she could stop herself, she leaned in and kissed him.
It wasn’t their first kiss, but it still felt new and pulsating. His lips were warm and firm against hers, and he cupped her face gently as if she were something precious.
When they finally pulled apart, she was breathless and her heart was pounding wildly in her chest.
“You’re amazing you know that?” he murmured, his forehead resting against hers.
She gave him the warmest of smiles. “Only because I have you babe,” her voice was a bit shaky, but it carried pure sincerity.
He chuckled softly as he began brushing a strand of hair out of her face. “I’ll remind you of that when you’re yelling at me for leaving my boots in the middle of the room once we're fully mated,”
Zara laughed. She couldn't help herself… he made her feel that way. “I’ll hold you to that.”
Jackson stood up and stretched lazily, glancing towards the door. “I should probably get back to my room now, I've seen enough flowers and fabric with bright colours for one day. My head's starting to hurt” he added.
“Awww, my poor baby,” Zara teased, grinning at him.
“Laugh all you want,” he said, giggling. “But I’ll have you know that lilac and gold are exhausting colors.”
Before she could respond, he bent down and kissed her forehead, holding it for a moment before pulling away. “Goodnight, my love.”
“Goodnight” she said softly, watching as he left the room. His perfect frame vanishing down the corridor, taking some of the smile on her face along with him.
For a moment, she simply sat there basking in the warmth of their time together. But then a sudden memory jolted her….. His father.
She sat up straight as her heart skipped a beat. Earlier that day, she had overheard the Alpha speaking with the Beta about needing to see Jackson first thing in the morning. It had sounded urgent…. serious even.
“Oh no” Zara muttered to herself. She had meant to tell Jackson before he left, but had gotten so caught up in the moment that it had completely slipped her mind.
She stood quickly, intending to go after him, but then hesitated. He was probably already in his room by now, and she didn’t want to disturb him. It could wait until morning, she decided. She’d tell him as soon as she saw him.
But however she couldn't bring herself to stop thinking about it, what if it was really very urgent and could have a negative effect on Jackson?.
Making up her mind, she hurried off to his room.
As Zara approached, she could hear muffled sounds and panting coming from his room.
Was something wrong with Jackson?
Alarmed, she hurried up to his door, pushing it wide open without knocking.
And what she saw knocked the breath right out of her.
Directly in front of her was her mother,
naked on top of Jackson, and riding him like her life depended on it.
What followed next was a blur of sensations as hands, lips and skin all tangled up in a web of lust, heat and need, leaving Zara consumed and lost in the moment of forbidden desire. They made love to her, passionate love that left her head reeling in ecstasy. Theodore was smooth and gentle, almost like he was worshipping her body.He buried himself deep within her, feeling every curve in her body and sending sweet sensations running to her brain. She ached with the pleasure pulling him closer and almost melting into him. Then Xander took over and he did not carry the tenderness of his brother but rather he took her with a raw passionate hunger that had her quaking with pleasure.Every stroke, every thrust was sure and true, as he filled her completely. The atmosphere was consumed by their passion, their body heat overpowering the entire room. Zara was almost mad with pleasure by the time they came to a thrilling climax. The sky was only starting to lighten, the cool air of the earl
The welcome party had ended, and Zara was back in her room. She watched herself in her mirror, her reflection a mask of fury and uncertainty. She had a dangerous plan in mind, and it would take a lot of guts to execute it.Tonight she was going to make Jackson hurt for what he had done to her. She didn't have a plan for her mother yet, but that could come later. Zara took a deep breath and poured herself a drink for courage, the alcohol burning her throat as she tried to silence the voice in her head warning her against this path. But the anger, the hurt, it was too much. The thought of Jackson feeling so smug and untouchable only fueled her anger. Tonight she would make him pay, even if it meant dragging the Alpha twins into her twisted revenge. She could only imagine the look on Jackson's face when she told him what she'd done. She was aware of Jackson's hatred and jealousy towards his older half brothers, and he hated when they got something he considered his or wanted. And Ja
The Grand Hall of the main pack house was filled with the scent of roasted meats and sweet fruits, a huge feast had been prepared in honor of the return of the Lennox Alpha Twins, Theodore and Xander and their engagement to the princess of the Lycan kingdom. It was a way to tie the two kingdoms together, and put a stop to the skirmishes that were happening between the two kingdoms before it became a full blown war. It was supposed to be a merry celebration for the return of the young men but Zara didn't feel like it.Every clink of wine glasses and laughter that echoed through the room felt like a huge reminder of the trust that had been betrayed by Jackson. No facade could cover up how she really felt.Gerald, the Alpha king was seated on his throne with his mate right beside him, David, his beta occupied his left hand. Her mother was nowhere to be found, her seat next to Beta David glaringly empty, which was probably for the best. Zara didn't know what she'd do if she saw the woma
Zara's shocked scream startled the two figures on the bed, and they immediately separated, her mother lying back on the bed, still naked, a sneering look on her face when she saw her, while Jackson hurriedly grabbed a towel to cover himselfTears streamed down Zara's face at the absolute betrayal happening right in front of her. For a moment everything was still, then the room erupted with the sound of her mother’s voice. It was a cruel mocking laugh that cut through Zara’s chest.“I can’t believe you’re this naive, Zara. Did you really think he was ever going to be yours?” her mother sneered. “You were always too weak, too controlled by your own fantasies. Jackson belongs with someone who knows how to keep him.”Jackson, now fully covered with the towel, looked at her with remorse, his light brown avoiding her gaze. “I'm so sorry you had to see this Zara, it wasn't meant to be like this,” he said pleadingly. When she didn't reply, he continued after a nod from Zara's mother. “The t
