Chapter 5: Danger?

Since she was no longer with Evander, Poppy became more aware of her surroundings. Especially with her clothes, which were quite thin for this frozen world, the people around Poppy began to stare at her strangely.

Poppy quickened her pace to get to the Registration Office quickly. Fortunately, there were only a few people around, so Poppy hurried into the building.

“What do you need... Miss?” A tall, thin man turned to Poppy, although he sounded uncertain at the end of his sentence.

“Hmm, I just arrived at the base and was told I had to come here to register,” Poppy replied awkwardly.

“I see, come this way.” The tall, thin man greeted Poppy warmly.

Poppy walked slowly toward the man, who was standing at a higher desk. So Poppy had to look up a little to see the man.

“Your name?” The man put his glasses back on while holding a beautiful-looking quill pen.

“Poppy.”

“Did you come with your family?”

“No, I'm alone.”

Poppy waited a long time and realized that the man had only asked her those two questions. Soon after, the man handed me a brown plaque. The plaque looked like the one Evander had, the only difference being the color.

“Since you're new here, I'll tell you the conditions for staying at the base. This Bronze Plaque is only valid for two weeks. You have to leave the base to find supplies or anything else the base needs to extend your stay here.” The man explained the rules of the base seriously.

“What will happen to me if I don't provide supplies to the base within those two weeks?” Poppy was worried after hearing the explanation, but she had to know the consequences if she didn't follow the rules.

“Of course, you can't stay at the base anymore.” The man smiled broadly.

Poppy didn't know whether to be impressed or worried when she heard the man's words. Poppy swallowed hard and asked again, “May I know what currency is used at this base for buying and selling?”

Considering how she looked now, Poppy had to buy warm clothes immediately so she could blend in with the residents at this base.

“I forgot to ask your name. May I know your name?” Poppy looked straight at the man with glasses and gave him the most innocent look she could muster.

The man with glasses chuckled softly when he heard Poppy's words. He was truly amused by Poppy's frankness.

“Charles, you can call me that.” Without hesitation, Charles told her his name.

“What a beautiful name. See you again, Charles.” Poppy smiled warmly at Charles and waved goodbye to him as she left the Registration Office.

When Poppy stepped outside the Registration Office, she felt a cold wind blowing against her body.

“System, how can I see my Warmth Parameter?” While turning into the crowd on the street, Poppy did not forget to call the System.

Poppy dared to peek through the crack in the wood, and her eyes widened in surprise when she realized that the person who had been thrown against the wall was Evander.
