Chapter 4

Author: Ash Devon
Izzy started cursing in anger. “How dare he block my number?”

Carter held her down quickly. “Calm down. It is only the lapdog feeling hurt and humiliated. He is trying to make you give in to him. He is probably hiding at the event venue with the watch right now, waiting for you to forgive him. We should head over there.”

Izzy thought about it and decided it made sense. “Fine. I will let him continue his act a little longer. I will make sure he regrets this when we get there.”

That evening, luxurious cars filled the entrance of Capital Hotel, the venue for the bell‑ringing event of Sockman Enterprise.

Izzy arrived in a haute couture gown with Carter and Eugene linked at her arms, making a grand entrance. When they reached the hall entrance, two burly security guards stopped them. “Please show us your invitations.”

The smile on Izzy’s face froze. “I am the CEO of Sockman Enterprise. Why would I need an invitation for my own event?”

The security guards remained expressionless and did not move aside. “I am sorry, but the CEO of Sockman Enterprise has already arrived. This event is not open to the public.”

All three of them were stunned. “The CEO of Sockman Enterprise has arrived? Izzy is right here. Who else could be the CEO?”

Izzy sneered as Eugene frowned. “It does not matter who the CEO is. She will pay the price for posing as me. She will never find a place in this city.”

Izzy was about to barge in when a black Rolls‑Royce stopped at the end of the red carpet. I stepped out of the car in a black suit. The Patek Philippe watch on my wrist sparkled under the lights.

Izzy’s eyes lit up when she saw me, but her expression shifted to anger. She rushed toward me and pointed at the watch while yelling, “Did I not tell you that watch is for the executive of White Mount Investments? Who told you that you could put it on? You are not good enough for that watch. Take it off right now. The executive might not want it anymore if he knew you dirtied it. Can you afford the consequences?”

Carter and Eugene walked up behind her with mocking expressions. “The bell‑ringing is about to start, Shawn. What is with this outfit when you are not the one standing beside Izzy? Give her the watch and take us inside, and we will forget what happened last night.”

They had been in a hotel room with my wife, yet they spoke as if I had wronged them. It was ridiculous.

Izzy used the same patronizing tone. “This is your last chance, Shawn. Go over there and replace those dumb security guards, and I will forgive you for blocking my number.”

I tugged my sleeves with an amused look. “Forgive me? Are you still asleep, Izzy?”

“What do you mean? You…”

The doors to the venue opened slowly, and a cold, authoritative female voice came from inside. “I am the CEO of Sockman Enterprise. You have no right to forgive anything Mr. Colter does.”

Izzy turned around at once. She saw Leia in a flowing silver gown, walking out with high‑level executives surrounding her. Her exquisite makeup and confident posture made her look nothing like her usual timid self.

Izzy stared in shock as her eyes widened. “Leia Jameson? What nonsense are you talking about? If you are the CEO, then who am I?”

I looked at the woman I had groomed to become the CEO. She was smart, capable, and knew when to walk away. Most importantly, she understood her place and would never be as foolish or greedy as Izzy. I was not looking to carry a burden, yet I did not mind having a loyal partner by my side.I walked toward Leia and laughed softly when I saw her eyelashes tremble. “You do not need to work that hard for me.” I wrapped my arm around her slender waist and pulled her into an embrace. “Just do your duty as Mrs. Colter, and that is enough for me.”Leia shuddered slightly. Her eyes turned red before she buried her face in my chest.…A few months later, my assistant informed me that Izzy had become unstable. After being tortured and beaten by her debtors in an underground club, she broke down mentally. Carter and Eugene did not end well either. They were thrown into prison for selling stolen goods and committing fraud.“Mr. Colter, Izzy Sockman is now homeless on the streets. She cannot ev

Shawn sat in the main seat of a forum, looking commanding yet at ease. He looked like a conqueror who controlled the fate of everyone in the room. Leia sat beside him, shining brightly as the newly appointed CEO of Sockman Enterprise.A reporter asked, “Mr. Colter, we heard that you recently completed a billion‑dollar merger. Can we know the secret to your success?”Shawn tilted his head slightly and glanced at Leia before giving a calm smile. “It is because I have someone truly capable standing by my side.”The camera zoomed in on Leia. She looked at Shawn with admiration and love in her eyes.Izzy stared at the man on the screen, the man who once belonged to her. If she had not chased after lovers and done so many foolish things, the woman sitting beside him would have been her. That billion‑dollar empire would have been handed to her on a silver plate. She could not accept that Leia, a woman she believed was fated to have nothing and die overworked at her desk, was now the CEO.

Izzy broke down at once. It was only then that she finally understood that the abilities she had been so proud of, and the confidence she had in controlling everything, were nothing but a joke in front of me. “I… I will sign the papers.”Her hands shook with fear as she picked up the pen and signed her name in a rush.I took the papers from her and passed them to the lawyer before wiping my hand with cold indifference. “Get out.”The bodyguards opened the villa doors, and Izzy was kicked out like a homeless dog. She did not have a single cent on her and was not given time to pack any clothes.Carter and Eugene ran the moment they realized things were not going their way.The door slammed shut behind Izzy with a loud bang, forming a barrier between two different worlds. Izzy stood in the cold wind, staring at the luxurious villa she once believed would belong to her forever, and she finally broke down crying.Autumn rain poured without warning, drenching her completely. She walked

Izzy sat on the sofa while she watched the lawyer in a sharp suit stand in front of her. She let out a cold laugh. She had no talent for business, yet she was not foolish when it came to money. Even she could tell from the way I ordered White Mount Investments around and transferred billions in shares to someone else that I was a multibillionaire.“Are you trying to pay me off with this lousy piece of paper? Where is Shawn? Get him here to speak to me.” Izzy tore the divorce papers and threw the pieces at the lawyer’s face. “I will sign the papers if he gives me what I deserve from his billions in assets, Sockman Enterprise’s shares, this three‑billion‑dollar villa, and everything else he owns. Give me one cent less, and I will not agree to the divorce.”Carter and Eugene, who sat beside her, nodded in agreement. “She is right. Shawn has been a useless bum who hid this from Izzy the whole time. This is marital fraud.”“If he refuses to pay, we will expose him to the media and tell

“The billion‑dollar investment for Sockman Enterprise has been transferred to the public account registered under Leia Jameson, as you instructed. You may confirm it at any time.”The entire hall fell silent when Frank addressed me as Mr. Colter.Izzy froze for two seconds before forcing out an awkward laugh. “You must be joking, Mr. Collier. Why are you calling him Mr. Colter? He is a useless man who cannot even get a job. He married into a woman’s family and lived under the Sockmans’ roof for three years. He is only lucky he looks like some random tycoon. You must have mistaken him for someone else. There is still time to fix this. You should hurry and—”Frank flung her hand away in disgust and looked at her as if she were out of her mind. He sneered. “How could I mistake someone after decades in this business? Do you have any idea of your own capabilities, Izzy Sockman? Three years ago, your twenty‑person company was close to collapse. You had no core technology, and you did not

Leia did not even glance at her, as if speaking to someone like Izzy was a waste of time. She walked straight toward me and bowed slightly. “Everything is ready for you, Mr. Colter. We can begin the bell‑ringing ceremony.”“I wondered why an employee who did not show up to work would be here pretending to be a socialite.” Izzy snapped out of her shock and looked as if she finally understood what was happening. She ignored Leia and pointed at me with ridicule.“How much did you pay her? Yesterday was only an innocent joke we played on you. You should know your place and accept it when all you do is use a woman’s money. How dare you get this nerd to ruin my big day? Have you forgotten who the boss is after getting used to leeching off a woman? Mr. Collier from White Mount Investments is here today. What is a loser like you doing pretending to be a wealthy man?”Eugene stared at Leia’s haute couture gown with a greedy glint in his eye. “That gown has to be worth tens of thousands, Izzy
