Chapter 3

Author: Frost
My mother could not bear to see me like that. She rushed toward me and grabbed my wrist.

“Dylan, please don’t do this. I didn’t mean what I said earlier. Please, just let Adam stay for one night. Just one night.”

Her pleading voice reminded me of what she said three years ago.

Instead of waiting for me to speak up, Adam immediately said, “Mr. Scott and Mrs. Scott, please don’t make it difficult for Dylan. I have reaped what I’ve sown. I’ll make a move first. Besides, I owe you a formal apology, Dylan. I’m sorry.”

After he said that, he looked at me with a regretful expression, then left without any hesitation.

This time, my parents did not chase after him.

My mother turned around and sighed.

My father also let out a long sigh.

I felt unhappy as I heard the sound of fireworks going off.

I tried to lighten the atmosphere.

However, no matter what I said, my parents were no longer smiling sincerely.

They excused themselves to their bedroom before 10 p.m. I was left alone in the empty living room.

The laughter from the television show made me feel even worse in contrast.

I thought they would be upset for a really long time, just like they were three years ago.

However, in just two days, they returned to their normal selves. They took good care of me.

I was secretly happy about it. I thought they had finally understood the situation and were going to treat me, their real son, well.

Then, one day I overheard my helpers’ conversation.

“I told you so! Mr. and Mrs. Scott still love Adam the most! When they saw that he wasn’t doing well, they immediately bought a mansion in the city’s most expensive postcode for him. They even secretly transferred some of their shares to him.”

“I think they haven’t even fulfilled their promises that they made to Dylan, and they have yet to transfer the shares to him.”

“As expected, blood relation means nothing compared to true companionship. They raised Adam, so they’re closest to him.”

Even though the heater was on and the house was very warm, I felt cold all over.

In order to make it up to me for my amputated leg, my parents promised to transfer half of their shares to me.

However, whenever I brought this matter up throughout these three years, they kept finding excuses to delay it.

In contrast, when they found out that Adam was doing food delivery on New Year’s Eve, they immediately gave him a house and their shares.

I stood in the corner for a long while before I quietly left.

The next day, a private detective sent me the address of that mansion.

I stood outside the garden and saw my parents having afternoon tea with Adam through the mansion’s floor-to-ceiling windows.

The three of them were chatting and laughing, as if they were a true family.

The security guard saw that I was pacing before the entrance, so he stepped forward and asked, “Hello sir, are you looking for someone?”

I pointed at my parents, who were peeling fruits for Adam, and said softly, “I’m looking for them. They’re my parents.”

Upon hearing that, the security guard immediately sounded disgusted.

“Sir, even though I’m not educated, you can’t lie to me like this. Mr. Scott told us that he only has one son. Even if you want to pretend to be their son, you should do some research beforehand.

“Alright, this is a private residential area. Please leave now. Otherwise, we’ll take action.”

I glanced at the security guard indifferently and then pressed the doorbell.

The security guard was shocked. He wanted to gather his other colleagues to escort me out.

A second later, someone opened the door.

When my father saw me, he froze.

[What on earth is this drama?][I bet the rich parents are embarrassed of their disabled son, so they would rather protect their fake son.]Everyone was discussing this online. Adam was finally paying for what he did. Scott Corporation was badly affected as well, and it almost went bankrupt. After work, I saw my parents waiting outside my apartment. They looked a lot older compared to the last time I saw them. It seemed like Scott Corporation was in deep trouble. Upon seeing me, my mother’s eyes lit up. She immediately grabbed my hand and said, “Dylan, you’re finally home. Are you tired? Is your work tiring? Maybe you should consider working with us again.”My father also looked at me with a meaningful gaze. “That’s right, Dylan, it’s better to work with us than with other people. If you’re willing to come back, you can be the vice president of our company.”Upon hearing that, I was expressionless. I took my hand back. “Why are you looking for me? If it’s for Adam,

Actually, I was afraid that my biological parents would not want me anymore. However, I no longer wanted them. What would I be afraid of? I walked toward Adam and smirked. “Adam, you know why I lost this leg, don’t you?“Why are you acting so arrogantly before me? Aren’t you afraid that I’ll take out the evidence of you doing something to my brake pads?“Tell me, if the police detain you, do you think your so-called parents will try to save you? After all, without you, Peter would no longer be able to threaten them.” Upon hearing my words, Adam’s face became ghastly. He wanted to refute me, but he could not say anything. His friends saw that he was speechless, so they quickly helped. “How dare you talk to Adam like that? I’m going to exile you from this city tomorrow.”“Adam, he’s too arrogant. Let us teach him a lesson.” Adam gritted his teeth and lowered his voice. “Dylan, didn’t you tell Dad that all evidence was gone? How dare you lie to him? I will tell him

My parents were no longer that close with Adam. They were grumbling when they talked to him. It was then they recalled how good I was. My mother even came to my new apartment. “Dylan, you’ve been gone too long. Come home with me. I’ve missed you.“As you’re my biological son, you’re still the best. If you weren’t swapped when you were younger, we wouldn’t have to deal with all this now. Come home with me, Dylan.” Upon hearing those words, I was angry. They had started missing me again because Adam was causing trouble for them.It was obvious that they did not love either one of us. They only loved themselves the most. When my mother saw that I had remained silent, she thought that I had agreed to her request. She quickly grabbed my hand and said, “Don’t worry. As long as you come home, you’ll inherit most of our assets. My father and I will throw a huge party to recognize you as our son.” Three years ago, when I first came home, they told me that they wanted to intr

They did that to prevent Peter from disrupting Adam’s life. However, Peter was a gambling addict. It would not be an easy task for him to change his ways and start all over again. In just three years, he had already spent all of his money. On that day, the Scott family members were meeting a few important business clients. Suddenly, they heard Peter shouting outside the gate. “Why are you stopping me? I’m here to look for my biological son! I’m telling you, my biological son is the successor of the Scott family! If you dare to lay a finger on me, I’ll immediately ask my son to fire all of you!” “Mr. Scott, who’s that man outside of your house? Why did he come here to look for your son?”One of the clients had just returned to the country, so he was unaware of the Scott family’s matters. However, my parents’ expressions changed when they heard his question. Adam, who stood to one side, was at a loss too. Peter saw that no one was responding to him, so he shouted even l

When my mother found out that I had cut them off, she immediately called me. I had just answered the call when she questioned me, “Dylan, why did you use Adam’s video to threaten your father? I’m really disappointed in you.“Is money really that important to you? Is it really more important to you than your father and me?“The car accident happened three years ago. Adam has also gotten his punishment. Why are you still holding onto it?“I don’t care where you are right now or what you’re doing. Go apologize to your father. Otherwise, I refuse to acknowledge you as my son!” I remained silent for a bit before agreeing. “Alright, Mrs. Scott. Please don’t contact me in the future.” After I said that, I ended the call without waiting for her response. Then, I blocked all of their contacts. I bought a cozy little apartment for myself. I personally chose every single decoration for the apartment. Since my biological parents were not willing to give me a home, I would build my

“Three years ago, in order to persuade me to drop the charges against Adam, you promised that all shares would be mine in the future. “But you’ve secretly transferred my shares to this fraud. How is this fair to me?” After I said that, I felt a blow against my cheek. My father had just slapped me. He glared at me. “It’s my company, and I decide how to give out the shares. It’s not your place to decide.“Get out of here now and stop embarrassing yourself. Otherwise, don’t even think I’ll give you a single cent in the future.” My mother was shocked as she held my father’s arm. She chastised him, “Why can’t you just say it nicely? You didn’t have to hit him! We’re in public!“Dylan, your dad…” Before she finished talking, I turned around and left immediately. I had an epiphany after he slapped me. Instead of wasting my emotions and effort on people who did not love me, I should be loving myself instead. After I walked away, I could still hear my father’s angry shouts.
