INICIAR SESIÓNLisa's POV
The air between us tightened, but Vincent continued anyway. “From that moment, I stopped being a father trying to understand. I became someone planning revenge,” he said quietly. “But then Christopher’s mother died, leaving him briefly alone. So I waited. I delayed my revenge, deciding to let him fully live through her loss before I struck. I wanted her to rest in peace properly before I began to destroy him.” He shifted slightly in his seat, his gaze locking onto mine. “And just when I thought I’d gotten the chance, you suddenly came into the picture,” he said, his voice shifting slightly. “You married him. So I stopped everything. I attended the wedding like nothing was wrong. I smiled, I played my role as the groom’s father… but from that day, I started watching you. Studying you. Trying to understand who you were—and why you had suddenly appeared out of nowhere and entered Christopher’s life.” Vincent’s eyes narrowed slightly as he leaned forward just a little. “And that was when I discovered who you truly were,” he said. “You weren’t just some ordinary woman. You were hiding something—your real identity. A carefully buried life you didn’t want anyone to uncover. And the more I looked into your background, the more interested I became, because nothing about your life added up the way it should. And with time, I also realized Christopher had been cheating on you long before you ever found out.” A brief, uncomfortable silence followed. “I knew everything, Lisa… even the moment you were almost killed. I sent my men to protect you, but they arrived too late at the bridge. Still, they managed to pull you out of the water just in time. Instead of bringing you back to the city, I decided to fly you out of the country and bring you here—to one of my private estates in Brazil—where you could be safe and recover.” My breath caught slightly at his words, but he didn’t stop. Vincent continued. “I thought you’d need help taking back everything you’ve lost…” His expression darkened slightly, then he leaned back, his voice softening just a fraction as he added calmly, almost too relaxed, “And that’s how you ended up here, honey.” By the time he finished speaking, my mind was overwhelmed. I couldn’t even process half of what I had just heard. Slowly, I forced myself to sit up despite the pain still burning through my body, and stared at him. I was so shocked and confused that I didn’t even know what to say at first. It felt like my brain was still booting, trying to recover lost files. Then I sighed and finally said, “I want to leave,” the words slipping out before I could even think of a more proper response. Surprisingly, Vincent didn’t react strongly. He only watched me as if he had expected that answer. But instead of arguing, he leaned back and studied me for a moment before speaking again. “You can leave if you want,” he said calmly, “but you already know Christopher will not stop looking for you. And I am the only one who can protect you the way you need.” “I don’t need your protection,” I replied sharply, my voice firmer now. “I will handle my revenge my own way. Stay out of it.” That made him pause. For the first time, there was a faint shift in his expression, as if he was analyzing me more deeply. “You want revenge,” he said quietly, “but you won’t survive long enough to take it alone.” “I don’t care,” I snapped. But he didn’t argue. Instead, he leaned forward slightly, his tone lowering. “Tell me something, Lisa,” he said. “Why are you so stubborn?” I frowned. “Well, I also have a question for you,” I said sharply. “Why me?” He didn’t waste time thinking. He spoke immediately, his voice calm but intense. “Because right now,” he began, “you are burning with rage, pain, and revenge. That combination is rare. It’s exactly what I need. That anger, that determination, that broken but unstoppable will to destroy Christopher… I need it. And you are the only one who carries it at this level.” Silence settled between us. I looked at him for a long moment, trying to understand him, trying to decide if I should trust anything he was saying. Then I shook my head slowly. “No,” I said firmly. “I am not interested.” For a moment, he said nothing. Then he stood up slowly, walked toward the door, and stopped just before opening it. “I’ll give you time to think about it, Lisa,” he said without turning back. “This is a very good deal. If you refuse, I will arrange your flight back to California.” He paused slightly before adding, “But think carefully. Because once you leave this place, I will not be able to guarantee your safety.” I stayed silent, watching him as he reached for the door. And then I suddenly spoke up, as if trying to seize the thin line of an opportunity slipping through my fingers. “I want to be declared dead.” I said sharply. He froze. Slowly, he turned back. “What?” I lifted my chin slightly, my voice steadier now. “If I work with you, then the world needs to believe I’m dead. I want to operate from the shadows.” There was no hesitation in him. “Done. What else?” he said, his tone swift and controlled. I exhaled softly, thinking carefully now. “I need to contact one person—Papa James. He needs to know I’m alive. And I need my company back. I am still the rightful controller of everything I built, so I’ll still have to take it back and continue from where I stopped… I want to rebuild it, grow it again, and return to the woman I used to be—the one who took what my parents left me and turned it into something ten times bigger.” Vincent nodded once, serious. “Done.” Then he walked back and sat closer to me again, his voice softer now, almost calculated but strangely calm. “You will enjoy every bit of this journey, Lisa,” he said quietly. “I will make sure of it.” Then, without warning, I leaned in slightly and said, “State your condition.” He looked at me, a faint, almost excited and victorious smile spreading across his lips. Without blinking, he answered swiftly, “Marry me. That’s all.”**********

The frustration, the pain, everything that had been between us had shifted into something else.Without a word, Vincent opened the drawer, reached inside, and pulled out a thick black file. The kind of file that looked like it contained something important. Something serious. He turned around and walked back to me.Then he extended his hand and held it out toward me.I looked at the file but didn't take it immediately."What is this?" I asked, my voice low.A small smile formed on Vincent's lips.It wasn't a happy one. It was more like a smile that depicted that he already knew something I didn't."The beginning," he said simply. My brows pulled together as I stared at him in confusion. “The beginning of what?” I asked, completely lost.He stepped closer, still holdin
Lisa's POV I was still standing there, staring at Vincent like my brain was struggling to process what I was seeing. The powerful, terrifying man everyone feared had actually spent the entire night sleeping on the floor outside his own room.Because of me.The thought was strange. Almost unbelievable. His back was against the wall, his long legs folded awkwardly, his black shirt slightly wrinkled from the way he had slept, his head tilted to the side as if he had fought sleep for as long as he could before his body finally gave up.For a few seconds, I didn't know what to do.I didn't know whether I should be angry, touched, or just frustrated that this man had a way of making everything harder for me.My legs moved before my mind even decided what to do.I stepped closer and lightly pushed my foot against his shoulder.Nothing.He didn't move.My brows furrowed.I pushed him again, slightly harder this time.Still nothing."Seriously, Vincent?" I muttered under my breath.I pushed h
Lisa's POV "What—" My voice broke on the word. "What did you just say to me"Lisa—" Vincent stepped forward immediately, hand reaching out, face completely overtaken by regret. "Wait. I don't mean it like that. That came out wrong—I swear that's not what I—"“Stop. Don’t come close—” The tears suddenly burst out all at once.He stepped forward. “Lisa, listen to me. I didn’t mean to say that part. It was an accident and I didn’t mean it like that. Lisa please—” He tried to come closer.I moved back quickly.Vincent’s face tightened. “Lisa, I swear—I didn’t mean it like that. Just hear me out first—”“You think I did this to hurt you?” My voice suddenly broke as tears poured out like a broken drainage.I continued, “You think I was trying to punish you? Vincent, I was scared. I felt genuinely scared the second I found out I was six weeks gone. I didn’t want you to feel bad. I thought I was protecting you by delaying the truth. But this is….” I broke down. “This is what you have to say
Lisa's POV His eyes searched mine. “You must have missed your period, haven't you?”I looked away. My silence answered him.“You must have been feeling dizzy, am I wrong? You must have been throwing up. You keep losing your appetite every fucking second. All of those signs—every single one of them—and you still weren't sure?”His voice became heavier. “You must have felt completely different. You must have been tired. Sick. Your body was changing, Lisa.” He stepped closer again. “And you’re telling me you noticed nothing?”I opened my mouth, but no words came—because I knew. I knew he was right.“I didn’t know how to tell you,” I finally whispered. Vincent's expression changed, something painful flashing across his face. “But you knew how to leave me?”I froze.Vincent looked away, shaking his head. “That’s what you did, Lisa.” His voice dropped;“You didn’t come to me. You didn’t trust me enough to tell me the truth.” He pointed at his chest. “You pushed me away.” His eyes return
Lisa's POV The question Vincent threw at me stayed trapped inside my head throughout the entire flight back home.I had heard him.I had seen the hurt on his face when he asked me how I could hide something so important from him, but the one thing I couldn’t stop thinking about was the final thing he said. The question that completely destroyed every single excuse I had been holding onto.‘What made you think I wouldn’t accept the baby?’I didn’t have an answer.Because the truth was… I didn’t know.I didn’t know why I was so afraid.Maybe because the moment I realized I was six weeks gone, everything suddenly became complicated.God… it wasn’t just a pregnancy. It wasn’t just a baby.It was a piece of Christopher.A piece of the man who had hurt me.A man whose name alone still carried a weight I didn’t know how to handle. And Vincent… Vincent had spent every second proving to me that he was nothing like the person I was afraid of.Yet I still doubted him.I still pushed him away.A
Lisa's POV Christopher looked back at me again, clearly restless. “Have we—” He paused, then shook his head slightly. “No. Never mind. Forgive me.” A small smile flickered on Vincent’s face, but he quickly hid it before Christopher could notice. Christopher blinked sharply, then turned back to Vincent, and their conversation continued. But even as they spoke, Christopher kept getting distracted—his attention drifting back to me again and again. They talked about the ceremony, the arrangements, and a few business associates who had attended. Christopher did most of the talking, yet his eyes never really left me. It wasn’t just curiosity. There was something deeper in the way he kept looking. Something I couldn’t understand. I was still watching his strange behavior when my gaze shifted—and then I saw him. Gabriel. My uncle. The same man who had attacked Papa James, taken control of my company, and stolen everything I had built. And now he was standing at my funeral—God, my
Lisa's POV I didn’t even realize how much my words had affected Vincent until I watched him slowly rise from the couch. He set his laptop aside carefully, but his eyes never left mine. There was something in the way he looked at me that made my chest tighten. Not anger. Not the coldness I expected
Lisa's POV I hadn't been myself since yesterday.Because how the hell was I supposed to think straight when I had just discovered that I was five weeks late for my period?God! Five weeks! The number sat in my chest like a stone I couldn't cough up. I'd checked the tracker three times, thinking m
Duncan's POV The deep familiar dangerous voice spoke up on the call, he said, “One of those men escaped from the house. He might have returned back to California…. Handle him before Christopher hears anything from his mouth.” “Boss. It's been handled already. He almost spoke. But I shut him up i
Duncan's POV I turned around completely, and Clara started coming down the stairs, her hair swaying gently from side to side with every step she took. When she finally reached the bottom, she suddenly stopped and stood there, leaving just enough space between us for me to look at her properly, al
