Warehouse Showdown

“She’s safe.”

Those two words broke the spell.

Alex’s whole stance changed in an instant. His muscles tightened, and he straightened his back.

His eyes, which had seemed gentle just a moment before, now showed a fierce determination. The mask he had been wearing, whatever act he had put on, vanished completely.

He took a step back from Isabella, his voice sounded cold, final and stripped of all pretence.

“It’s over, Isabella.”

She didn’t flinch. Her head tilted. Her lips curled, not in surprise, but expectation.

“Not surprised, Alex,” she murmured, circling him like a cat sizing up an old rival. “You always were quick to flip the board when you’re losing.”

He didn’t answer.

Isabella’s smile grew slowly and venomously.

“So what now? You going to cuff me? March me out of here like one of your little precinct thugs?” She leaned in close, breath warm against his ear.

“Except… you can’t, can you?”

Alex didn’t blink.

“Not without the De Lucas razing everything you lo

The war room buzzed with a tense energy, the blue light from the monitors casting shadows on the metal walls. Ava sat at the long steel table, looking focused. The table was cluttered with digital tablets, surveillance reports, and a few printed photos. However, one particular image stood out in the middle, capturing everyone's attention.Pearl, blindfolded, arms bound.Ava stood rigid before it, hands braced against the table’s edge, knuckles pale from pressure. The overhead lights glinted off her dark ponytail and the faint smudge of a healing bruise along her jaw, a reminder of a night that had nearly cost her everything.Selena stood to her left, her eyes moving rapidly between the screens, her dark brow knitted with concern. On her right was Rafael, arms crossed tightly over his chest, every muscle in his body tense.“Talk,” Ava said, her voice like cracked ice on still water.Selena tapped her tablet and mirrored it to the wall display. A grainy security feed appeared, with nig

“Start talking,” Ava demanded. The air in Ava's study felt heavy, almost like a thick blanket, and the walls were lined with books from floor to ceiling, making the space feel somewhat cramped. A warm light flickered from the mantle, throwing a golden glow over the shiny dark wood furniture. It should have felt cosy and inviting, but instead, it felt unsettling, like a cage.Alex stood still, the faint mark of Ava’s handprint on his cheek. He didn’t touch it or react in any way. Instead, he looked straight into her eyes, his golden-brown gaze meeting hers without any apology.Ava stood across from him, silent, with her arms rigid at her sides. She was tense, and her bright green eyes were locked on him, without blinking.“You want the truth?” Alex said at last. His voice was low, steady, but laced with something raw. “Fine.”He took a slow step forward. “I’m Alex Moretti, or as you’ve come to know… X.”The confession didn’t crack the air; it shattered it.“I’ve been running the Moret

  • I Found My Mafia Mom, A Cop Husband   082. No More Pretending...

Alex and Ava stood face to face, both holding their weapons high. Their backs pressed against the walls of the narrow corridor, eyes locked on the other, each one weighing their next move. It was as if they were searching for a hint of the people they used to be, trying to see past the betrayals and lies they’ve been covering up for months now.Alex exhaled sharply, a faint chuckle breaking the tension. “So… do I call you Dr. Ava Reed tonight, or La Rosa’s Godmother?”Ava’s face remained still, unreadable, but her voice was like a scalpel in silk. “Only if I can call you Detective Ramos. Or should I say… Moretti’s Ghost? X?”The air around them felt heavy with the weight of those names… lives they had kept secret, lives they had lived side by side… without the other realising it. Or maybe pretending not to see.A beat. Then, slowly… carefully, they both lowered their weapons.“I’m here for Pearl,” Alex said in a quieter voice now. “I know you are, too.”“Of course I am,” Ava replied

The old warehouse looked like a worn-out monster made of steel and shattered glass. A thick layer of dust covered the windows, dimming the moonlight and turning it into a muted grey colour. The air was filled with the smell of rust and mould, mixed with a hint of oil from old machines long forgotten. It felt like a place haunted by the memories of past industries. In the centre of the floor, a single folding chair stood beneath a flickering overhead lamp. On it sat Pearl, wrists bound with a thin zip tie, her ankles tangled loosely in rope. It wasn’t tight; it wasn’t even secure.Whoever had tied her up did it carefully, as if they didn’t want to hurt her. It felt like they were struggling with their own feelings, clinging to a line they weren’t quite ready to cross. But Pearl’s eyes were not afraid. Her eyes were steady and wide, filled with a quiet, intense anger that seemed too strong for someone her age. She wasn’t crying or shaking; she was just waiting. In front of her stood a

Evening – En Route to Reed EstateThe city rushed by outside the windshield—headlights flashed like ghosts in Ava's view, with every red light glowing boldly. She pressed down on the accelerator, the engine protesting loudly as she weaved through the traffic. Horns honked around her, but she didn’t pay attention to them. She gripped the wheel so tightly her knuckles turned white. Her lips were pressed in a flat, controlled line. She was beyond fear. She was operating on a deeper, darker level. She hit the call button on her car’s dashboard. Selena’s voice picked up on the second ring.“Ava?”“Meet me at the estate. Now. Call Rafael.”“What’s going on?”But Ava had already ended the call.---Reed Estate – Underground War RoomThe moment the elevator doors hissed open, Ava stormed into the subterranean control room. The space pulsed with LED displays and quiet mechanical hums. Maps glowed on one wall. Security feeds blinked across another.Selena was already waiting, standing like a g
